Me and three others received undercooked chicken and got food poisoning. This developed during my finals week so to say the least I didn’t have time to be vomiting for an entire day and have an upset stomach for many more after that. I used to be an extremely loyal customer to Rice House(1 – 3 times per week). Now the idea of their Cashew Chicken makes me sick. It really bums me out to write a bad review but after that ordeal other should know!

I travel a lot. I eat a lot of mediocre Chinese food. I love mediocre Chinese food. Philadelphia has a chain of immigrant friendly to go restaurants, low prices medium quality, super amazing. The best Chinese food in America is in Champaign Illinois. A giant neon sign that says Get In Here, and buddy, they mean it. Until Rice House. The sole similarity? The initial menu is entirely ideogram. Great sign, pun intended. Clearly intended for foreign students in the know aching for a taste of home. Call ahead, order to go, this is not a sit down family thing. This is also not to be missed. This place is something special, they don’t skimp on the spice, the portions area extremely generous, along with their prices.

I went there in the summer when there were fewer students(it’s across from Missouri State University). It is a smaller location, so, there is a good chance that it may be over crowed, also depending on the semester, and midterms, finals, etc… There are some establishments nearby which sell alcohol(which includes a sports bar), so, if you’re dining on a Friday later in the evening, it could be loud and annoying outside. Overall, it’s a nice dining restaurant. Good food and nice atmosphere. One of the best in Springfield!

The front of the house girl that is always working does an awesome job with everything and is super nice. Lunch menu is well priced and the portions are very generous. Great food! Thanks Rice House

Pretty good little off the radar Chinese joint. Looks to be family owned and run by the family. I went during lunch and it was quickly crowded by many Asian MSU students. I got the General Tso’s chicken. It was very good but nothing like I’ve hat at any other Chinese Restaurants, it also came with fried rice and choice of crab rangoon. Which brings me to another point, the crab rangoon are freaking delish! Nice small size, sweet and cooked just right. Not too crispy and just the right amount of filling. I will definitely be going back for lunch again some time.

I’m so happy to write a good review of this place! My daughter and I have eaten here 6 times now and the 1st time was only about 2 months ago! Boba Teas and Boba Frozen drinks are a treat! They come covered with cellophane sealed on, so it’s a great drink on the go for Downtowners! The food is fresh, healthy, and vibrant! So many beautiful vegetables, all at their peak of ripeness, not a speck of aging edges on the greens. I get the Mei Fun noodles with pork and veggies! And it’s so large that I have left overs for a second meal… It’s good cold as well! My college aged kiddo gets the Lo Mein, which she says is hard to find(in springfield) in the thicker variety which she believes is best, and they have them! Rice House was even giving away 2 liter soda bottles and offered them to us when we didn’t ask! And here’s a hint Springfieldians… when other Asian Nationals are coming in bunches… it’s a good place to eat! Every time I’ve been there at least one Asian family or group was coming to get TOGO food. Some of our Aging Asian food places have slowly slipped into too much greasy, too cloggy sauces, etc. Forget them! Go Fresh!!! You won’t regret it.
