No longer dog friendly, such a disappointment since we walked specifically to eat here based on the reviews.

This place is a literal mixed bag. We were staying at the adjoining inn(Same name), and they gave us a pair of $ 5 vouchers for breakfast. I had the burrito and my GF had the french toast. The prices here are reasonable, but the service is really on/off. When we arrived there were around ten servers busily working the two rooms. By the time we had been seated and our drinks were on the table this number had dropped to around 3. We ordered and then there was only 1 server left. Our food arrived quickly but after it got to our table no other servers entered the dining room for almost twenty minutes. Both of us had empty drinks and were looking around for help. I ended up walking into the hall area to ask the hostess for some help. The food was okay. The burrito was stuffed with eggs and had nothing else in it. This makes for a gross breakfast burrito, only mounds of semisolid egg falling from a chilli slathered tortilla. The french toast was fine, nothing to brag about. TL;DR: okay food, hot/cold service, there are better options for breakfast here.

Food was a 3 but service was a 5! I had one dinner and 3 breakfasts here while staying at Jaybird’s Inn. Our dinner party was a group of nine– 8 adults, 4 of whom were senior citizens, and an infant. We had drinks at the bar first and the bartender was really friendly and accommodating. Once seated, our waitress was super sweet, even when the dads who were splitting the bill asked for the Jaybird’s Inn guest discount AFTER their credit cards had been swiped. She cancelled out the first transaction and reran their cards with the discount applied. Very nice! I split a yummy gluten free pizza with my sister and everyone else’s food looked great but involved bread so I couldn’t try it. The next morning I had breakfast with just 2 family members. I had the breakfast skillet but skipped the gravy. It was like a Denny’s skillet breakfast but much better quality and not as greasy! Our waitress was attentive and kept refilling coffee– my mug was never empty! On morning 2 the whole gang of nine met there for breakfast. The servers all made a fuss over my beautiful nephew, so points for that of course, and all around it was great service! I got the breakfast skillet again but I saw some lovely fluffy french toast across the table along with some giant pancakes! Everyone was happy and full at the end of the meal. On day 3 I breakfasted solo and it was very pleasant. Bacon, scrambled eggs and home fries filled my belly before my trip home. If you need a casual place to eat in St. Augustine, Jaybird’s Restaurant is worth checking out.

We are here on thanksgiving so I can’t speak to their regular menu. The thanksgiving menu had several options. I’m a vegetarian(well I do eat fish occasionally) so I was happy to see mahi mahi on the menu. I also had sweet potato casserole & squash. Husband got the traditional thanksgiving plate. His stuffing was SO good(I think I must’ve eared ½ of it!). My son got chicken fettuccine, he’s picky and I was happy to hear him say he loved it. Service was excellent. Restaurant was clean.

Hands down, the best breakfast I’ve had in a very very very long time! I was on a weekend trip for a wedding, staying at the Jaybird Inn. After the wedding we all were in need of a little late night cap and nighttime snack. The bartender was one of the best! She made us handmade, crazy delicious, mojitos. We washed those down with pizza and walked to our room. The morning after we all were in need of some breakfast medicine so the short walk was perfect for our state. We had a table of 7 and were seated pretty fast. We all ordered something different and everything that came to our table looked better than the next. The pancakes… they are their own planet. My omelette was one of the best I’ve ever had. Next time I’m in St. Augustine, no matter if I’m staying at the Jaybird Inn or not, I’m making a trip here!

Nice place, menu, food & server. We had a good experience. We would definitely come back if we are in the area.
