This is my favorite sushi place. They have an excellent lunch special with a huge bowl of undone soup

This place is the best sushi around! The quality is great especially for the price. The ginger honey chicken is amazing. Service can be a bit off depending on who you get. It’s our family’s favorite place to go out.

This is our favorite sushi place in Geneva. The spicy Tuna, spicy salmon, Mexican roll, volcano roll are my favorites.

We originally tried this place one weeknight in November. We wanted the hibachi grill and were subsequently seated, then told that there was over an hour wait for a chef! We looked around and saw only one hibachi table occupied at that time, and the chef had already begun the cooking. We were pretty hungry so we opted to leave and go next door, to Colonial Café. Fast forward a few weeks. We decided to give Mr. Samurai a second chance. We were seated with another couple at a hibachi table and placed our orders. When my iced tea arrived, I detected a faintly odd taste… it just tasted old. Yuck. I asked for a water instead. The salad was fine, but it was the soup that was really disappointing. At other hibachi restaurants, we have been served a nice broth soup containing fresh vegetables and sometimes noodles. At Mr. Samurai, I watched the waitress pour hot water from a large carafe into the bowls, obviously reconstituting a dried mixture. My husband ordered the steak and shrimp, which was actually quite good, and I ordered the spicy chicken. The entrees were of good quality and flavor. The fried rice that we paid extra for was a tad on the oily side, however. Our chef was nice and cooked the food properly. All in all, not a terrible place, but I have definitely had better hibachi food and doubt I’d return for the same at Mr. Samurai.

Yum! Try the hibachi steak and the sushi. Oh yeah, the chicken & broccoli is delish! We have a 3 year old and the staff was very friendly to us. Seriously the steak…

This restaurant has exceptional décor, great service and the food was very good. But its another one where I felt that none of the positives rated the menu prices. I left feeling like I paid too much for what I got. The overpriced menu seems to be becoming a trend in the western suburbs, so maybe its the new norm. Overall good food, but not special enough for the menu prices. We have not returned and have no plan to.

The freshest sushi around! The menu offers a lot of variety from your basic rolls to more unique rolls. My favorite is the mango roll. I’m drooling right now just thinking of it! The prices are average, if not on the low-end, and for high-quality, beautifully presented sushi with a ton of options available, don’t even think twice… just RUN to Mr. Samurai! :)

I had high hopes but was sadly disappointed. Service was slow and nonexistent. The sushi was just ok and the rolls where poorly put together.

I dined at Mr Samurai last night(Tuesday) and had one of the worst experiences I can remember. To be fair, I’ve been there about 10 times in the last year, and usually was somewhat pleased. I started with a seaweed salad, which comes garnished with pieces of crab stick. The seaweed and cucumbers were fine, but the crab sticks were off. A fluke I figured. Next they brought me two white tuna sushi and the first of two rolls I had ordered. The rice in both was, I suspect too wet, but for whatever reason, the rice wouldn’t hold together and it was impossible to actually pick any of it up with chop sticks. The server(she’s always been somewhat aloof) could see my issue, so scooted around so as to avoid eye contact. Then she brought my bill, but I never got the second roll I ordered. She asked if I wanted to have it made now, and I told her no, what I had been served wasn’t very good, and I couldn’t see throwing good money after bad. She took the 6 or 7 dollars for that roll off my check, but avoided asking about what I wasn’t happy about with the rest of the meal. I kind of figure the guy didn’t make the second roll because it wasn’t wrapped as the first one was, and there was no way he could get rice to stay together to slice it into serving pieces. Had this been my first Sushi experience, it would have also been my last. it likely will be my last meal at this place. Any kitchen can have a bad day, but it was pretty obvious they knew it wasn’t right, but didn’t care to fix it. As I was leaving, the ladies seated to my left were refusing to eat something they described as «mushy and bad smelling». The chef sent a young guy I’ve never seen there before to try to convince them they were wrong, rather than facing the issue himself. Just not a good night.

My daughter finally convinced me to try sushi, I LOVETHISPLACE, staff is awesome, friendly and patient. The food is great, they have other things other than sushi such as chickin and steak that they cook in front of you. I ate the crazy boy sushi, wonderful I will be back. This is place is also very clean and very affordable.

Walked in for the first time and was not greeted by anyone. The place had 2 other customers so it wasnt busy at all. After 20 minutes of waitinf without anyone even looking at us, my party and i decided to leave. Very bad customer service, actually no service arlt all.

I’ve dined in many sushi restaurants and this was just marginal at best. You ever have chewy sushi? My meal had many pieces.

I’ve been to Mr. Samurai several times and enjoyed it on all occasions. Friendly owners and staff make you feel like family. Food and drinks are great. I’m not even a sushi lover but I appreciate all the work that goes into it. Good times! Nice job Mr. Samurai keep it up.

I cannot begin to express how amazed I am with this restaurant. I absolutely loved it! Everything from the sushi to the atmosphere made my night. We were celebrating a friends birthday, and the owner and servers made it incredibly special for her. The hibachi chef was very generous as well and gave us all free shrimp which were amazing! I only have one complaint and that would be how slow the service was. Granted we were in no rush, it would have been nice to have our food in less than an hour. Besides that Mr. Samurai is a must try!

You just can’t go wrong with this place for your fill of commercial grade sushi. You aren’t going to find a premium experience here and there isn’t an exotic selection. However, you will find a broad enough selection and everything is fresh and tasty. The service is good and the folks are friendly! Go there!

Ok… have to add an amendment to my review. Came out to Mr. Samauri tonight, but this time for the hibachi. Parents are a little particular when it comes to dinners out, but we were all super happy with the hibachi! We all got combos… hubby and I had the shrimp and scallop, my mom had chicken and salmon, and my dad had chicken and shrimp. The entertainment factor was great, even though they were SUPERBUSY(each hibachi was full of people, plus the tables that are typically reserved for sushi diners). Each hibachi meal comes with soup, salad, rice(we upgraded to the fried rice), noodles, vegetables, and your selected entrée or combo. The entire meal was a flavorful, and I fell in LOVE with the garlic sauce they served with each entrée. Note to self… roasted garlic, cream and mayo make an amazing marriage: D Try Mr. Samauri for the sushi, the hibachi, and the awesome staff and owners!

I went here the other night and the food was amazing, the presentation of the sushi is spectacular. And the hibachi was good as well. We had Sonny cooking at our table and he was friendly and talkative. Mr Kim the sushi chef was very kind and Mrs Kim the owner was super friendly. Out waitress was also nice and did her job efficiently. Overall the experience was great and I’d definitely come back.

Tried Mr Sushi for the first time and it’s a difficult review to write. Things gone wrong — it took over an hour to get 2 sushi rolls on a Tuesday night. I wanted to get in and out so I was getting very frustrated. I sat at the sushi bar and it was so cold I had to put my jacket back on while I waited to eat. Things gone right — they knew I wasn’t happy and offered me complimentary edamame and pot stickers(come from the kitchen not the slow sushi chef). The sushi was very good and probably the nicest presentation I have ever received. Overall I would say YES to going back to Mr Sushi, I will just make sure I have time and am not famished when I walk in the door. It appears to be a mom and pop run place, very friendly atmosphere and the wait staff was awesome!
