Still searching for a decent Mexican restaurant in St. George – very difficult to find. This is a cute little place & the food is decent enough.. .. the first time we went, it was for lunch – I ordered a beer, only to find out they don’t have beer. What? The second time we went, it was for breakfast – I ordered coffee, but they don’t have coffee. Really? Wow, this is even more strange. The third time we went, it was lunchtime & they totally lost my order. I mean, the place is really small & so I’m not sure how they lost my order. Needless to say, we haven’t been back.

We eat here about once a week. Everything is excellent. The best Mexican food in this state. Check the salsa bar and the cute twins who do the waitressing.

I came as a result of reviews and family members. I wouldn’t recommend it. service was great, people very friendly. Salsa good, not great or excellent. Rice was delicious, everything else was ok. Food reminded me of Beto’s. Nothing was awful, it just wasn’t anything I’ll return for — I had relleno and enchilada, my friend had chimichanga, neither of us finished because it just wasnt that good. If you want friendly servers, average food, this is the place.

Our to go order was very tasty and the hot green salsa was exceptional! I would have given them five stars but they forgot to smother my husband’s burrito. For two meals and one beverage at $ 20, I expect our order to be correct. We plan to try them again and would recommend.

Everything we ate was authentic and tasty. The mole poblano sauce is rich dark and sweet with the pungent chile flavor perfect for the chicken burrito served wet and for the platter with chicken cooked so tender. But the bomb was my torts Cubans. I ordered the small but when it came it was so large i can’t imagine what a large looked like. You could easily feed 2 people with a small torts but between sharing bites and stuffing myself I managed to clean my plate. The bun was soft but crispy on the edges. The 3 meats were also tender and crispy on the edges. Try this place when you’re in town so good!

I visited Irmita’s as a recommendation from Unilocal! It was as great as recommended! I had the carnitas platter and my company had spicy pork. Both were excellent! The service left nothing to be desired. I will come back if I am ever in the area.

Delicious! Had the chicken enchilada and spicy pork taco plate. LOTS of yummy food! Beans and rice and salsa very tasty, too. Friendly service. Bright, colorful, clean interior. I reccomend it to all. I’ll definitely be back!(The pricing was a little confusing – not listed.)

Always the best. We go here every time we are in St. George. The chile verde and the carne asada are always great. My wife got the fajitas and boy were they great too.

From the outside, you wouldn’t think much about stopping in for lunch. Boy am I glad we did the first time! When you walk in, the food smells so yummy! I have been in several times and by far, my favorite thing to get is the enchiladas with mole sauce! My family always orders a variety of food and we have never been disappointed. I would recommend Irmita’s to anyone who loves fresh, delicious Mexican food!

On my search for decent Mexican food since moving to St George, I still haven’t found it. I came in here for lunch and had the shredded pork burrito. It was okay, with lots of meat but nothing else(veggies, peppers, cheese, onion, spices, etc)… it wasn’t all that great, IMHO. The chips are nearly hard enough to break your teeth, and the salsa bar only has a three choices(mild red, hot red and hot green). On the other hand, one Mexican after another came in while I was eating — so I guess it’s authentic cuisine. The owner/chef is really friendly. Pop is $ 2 each for a glass with refills — my total bill was $ 11+, too much for a meal I didn’t like. I’ll continue my quest, but I don’t think I’ll be back to this Irmita’s. Each to his own. I’m just not a fan.

Best burrito I’ve ever had. I have been getting the«spicy pork burrito» for years and I have never been disappointed. It is consistently well prepared and delicious. My spouse gets the«pork burrito»(not spicy) and he loves it too. The pork looks like it comes from a very good quality roast and is partially shredded and partially thick sliced. The flavorings have been perfected and the salt is just the right amount to bring out the best favors. Also the burritos are large enough for 2 meals. I can tell the family takes pride in what they serve and that makes for a great meal.

We’ve made it our thing to try Mexican food all over the world, and, we are from SoCal — basically I’m saying, we love good Mexican food, and this place was AWESOME. The girl at the register(who was very helpful and full of smiles) suggested that we try the Machaca(a hot shredded pork). It was just about the hottest thing I’ve very put in my mouth. We decided to order mulita’s(basically tortas on corn tortillas) with half Machaca and half regular shredded pork. Let me underline, this meal was SOOO hot. What made this place awesome though was that under the heat was a super robust flavor that usually is left out of Mexican food. The atmosphere was awesome, the staff was super nice. I would recommend this place to everyone visiting St. George.

Possibly some of the best Tex-Mex in southern Utah(which isn’t saying much bc most Mex/Tex-Mex here in Utah is quite horrible). Their food is flavorful and spicy, w/being drowned in sauces, sour cream or cheese. More true Mex than Tex-Mex, honestly.

Exceptional traditional Mexican dining. The owner suggested a wonderful combination of food. Large portions and a salsa bar make this place a winner.

We rode into Irmita’s at the end of a 3 hour mountain bike ride. It’s an awesome family-run casual roadside Mexican restaurant tucked in behind a used car lot. I asked for a recommendation and had the carne asada mulita with grilled peppers. It was delicious. Don’t expect a sit down, never-ending bowl of chips overpriced margarita experience.

Ugh! There should be an option to give minus points. OK — I admit to being a Mexican food snob. I lived in SoCal for 50+ years and I have that background as a bias. But even factoring that in, this place is the second worst Mexican food I have ever tried to choke down.(Worst is Mr Cebollin in Veyo, Ut.) We went here based upon positive recommendations from other sites, and I wonder if they went to the same place. Our disappointment started with the nice, but unhelpful(and only) wait person. The menu was made by hand, not even remotely professional and not very helpful. We ordered and received the tiny bowl of chips and salsa. The chips were hard, thick and oily and the salsa not very tasty. I ordered the standard cheese enchilada and beef taco combo as it usually gives me a good idea of their take on how to prepare the food. The beans tasted almost as good as the plain label canned beans from WalMart. Almost. The rice was actually pretty good. The taco was a soft shell corn with dried chunks of beef and nothing else. The beef was very bland. The enchiladas were covered with a bright orange sauce. It looked odd, but that didn’t deter me as I was pretty hungry. Sadly, the sauce was Chipolte which I’m sure a lot of people love. Unfortunately I’m not one of them. No where on the menu was the word Chipolte and enchilada near each other which is surprising as I expected to get traditional enchilada sauce. My wife had the carne«steak» which was a cheap, gristley cut of meat that came from the Carniceria’s day old bargain shelf. After waiting for a check that never came we went to the cash register and paid. It was then that I noticed there was a condiment bar with stuff for my taco. That would have been helpful to know. I guess there is a reason we were the only two people in the place until 4 poor unsuspecting people came in as we were leaving. If you’re in St George and want Mexican, go to Don Pedro’s on Valley View. So far it is the best I’ve found here.

Delicious food, but not so delicious service. Here is how it shaked out: Chips and salsa to start the dinner, standard. The red salsa lacked something to be desired. The Burrito California was stuffed as large if not larger than any other Mexican restaurant. The menu was large and not an easy read, but better organization and font selection would correct that. The service was quick. My table of four ordered waters. They brought us a pitcher of water which was nice but the water pitcher was a pitcher of ice with little water. The server seemed new and a little hesitant. He forgot to ask us for what type of meat we wanted in our burritos. He was nice and attentive. The food came out one platter at a time. The final plate arrived five minutes after all of the other plates had been served. Annoying but the burrito I ordered was worth the wait(because I waited for everyone’s plate to arrive before I started eating). All in all this is a decent eatery. The food is good and authentic. If the service improves this will be the sit down place to go in St. G. If it doesn’t, this place is like any other smash and grab, quick Mexican bite.

The food was *okay*, but we won’t be rushing back. Hubby had a burrito, which he said was good, and it was a good price for it. $ 6 I had the carne asada with rice and beans and deep fried onions… which were really a few sauteed onions. It was $ 8.50 and overpriced for what I got, considering I couldn’t eat the rice and the carne asada wasn’t flavored at all. I couldn’t eat the rice because it was extremely salty. When will a cook learn that flavor doesn’t mean dumping salt on? The tortilla chips were good, but the salsa… which you get yourself, though nothing is labeled, so you take your chances… is in such tiny cups that one must break up the tortilla chips into pieces to dip them. The staff are friendly. The service is quick. The tables were dirty. The food was less than impressive. There are better places for Mexican fare.
