very quaint and unique. loved the vibe of the inn and the pub. walking distance to many restaurants and stores and pier. room very clean and very comfortable. Noise was not a problem from the bar on fri or sat night. kinda of an oasis on a main street. Met a lot of people who stay here year after year.

Amazing place. Just stayed here 1 night because we had reservations at another place. Wish I could have just stayed here for the entire trip. Awesome room with so much personality. We had a corner room with 2 balconies. We loved the room and hotel so much we found it hard to leave to do other stuff on the island. So quiet and quaint. The bed was so comfortable; wish I didn’t have to get up so early. When I return to the island, I will be staying here.

We spent a weekend here with another couple to celebrate a birthday. My review will be easiest as a pros and cons… so here we go: Pros: great location in walking distance to shops, restaurants and pier; very nice rooms and a decent continental breakfast; friendly staff; clean and comfortable rooms… we had a nice walk in shower while our friends had a shower/tub combo… live entertainment on weekend nights Now, the cons: not sure if this is typical, but it seemed we were the only patrons younger than 50… many seemed over 60; if you go in warmer weather, the pool is tiny; bartender on our first night gave himself a generous tip which we did not see until check out on my friends credit card(my husband had already given him cash — shady!) All things considered, I would probably not return-just mainly because I prefer Jekyll island which is a short drive from st Simons. Also the older crowd wouldn’t have bothered us but many seemed snooty and unfriendly:/

An adorable bed and breakfast in a great location. Comfy bed! The people that worked there were very welcoming and friendly. You are super close the pier and some awesome shopping. The pub part is also a nice touch. Locals come to the pub frequently so you get to meet some friendly folk and get some good ideas for what to do in SSI.

I had always enjoyed getting a glass of wine and checking out the live music at the Village Inn and Pub when down in SSI. The bar comes off as far classier than Murphy’s(duh) and way less touristy than Brogen’s(also pretty easy to accomplish), so I’ve been a fan of this place for years. However, for the first time ever, we were in need of a hotel room, and thus a stay at the Village Inn was in order. One of my friends reserved a room for two nights online, and I have to say $ 185/night is more than fair for such a quaint little hotel right in the heart of it all on Mallery Street, especially when split amongst three of us. The front desk is located in the bar area, and we were greeted and promptly shown to our room. We were located on the ground level facing out on the swimming pool. The room itself was very well kept but small, typical B&B set up. Honestly I don’t think we could have handled another guest in the room with us because there was next to no walking room by the time that we had all of our belongings spread out on the floor. I say the floor because they have an armoire that houses the TV and has a tiny«closet» where you can store approximately 4.7 articles of clothing. In other words, there is no actual closet so to speak. Then again, it’s the beach and I don’t come here to hang out in my hotel room. I want to say that they have guest happy hour, but we were so involved in graduation weekend festivities that we never got to test this out. Actually I never even had a drink at the Village Inn this stay, which is quite a bummer. However, I did indulge in the continental breakfast both mornings. Overall the price and location are hard to beat, and the staff couldn’t have been any nicer. I highly recommend the Village Inn for anyone looking for a great place to stay or play.

A beautiful area that looks snobby but the staff and place as a whole is fantastic. I accidentally came here, but would definately come back

This place is very quaint. The beds were top notch. The rooms were very designed in a calming way and very nice. The service all around was good. The cute little pub in the front is comfortable and inviting. The pool is in the center of all the rooms, so being quiet out of respect would be thoughtful. You can walk down the main strip in 6 min. Perfect location!

They own two properties, the«Inn and Pub»(main building) and the«Village Retreat»(a separate complex down the street). We have stayed at both. «The Inn and Pub” — Awesome! 5+ stars! Beautifully kept grounds, nicely furnished rooms, comfortable beds, pretty balconies, and well appointed bathrooms. Been there twice and will continue to visit. We love it! «The Village Retreat”-3.5 stars. Lipstick on a pig… The rooms are spacious, bathrooms are nice; but, there is plenty of room for improvement. The doors are keyed entry(not card access), and their is no additional locking mechanisms from inside the room(no chain or deadbolt). The grounds of the Village Retreat are clean, but lackluster. Few, sporadically placed plants, junk stored on the side of the building(old boat covered in a plastic tarp, scrap wood, beat up cooler, etc…). For the price per square foot, you are getting a good deal. But paying the same price to stay at the Village Retreat, as it does to stay at the main building(Inn and Pub); it does not seem like a good deal. In summery, if you are planning on staying at the Inn and Pub, do it! Hands-down, it is among nicest hotels on the island! If you are thinking of staying at the Village Retreat, you should consider other options; but, do not rule it out if everywhere else is booked.

We came here fairly regularly for Wednesday night trivia. This is a hotel(Village Inn) but has a great little pub attached to it and everybody is welcome. RB(the main bartender) will definitely make sure you are taken care of! They don’t serve food here, just FYI, only bar nuts but if you’re looking for a place to drink, or play Trivia, this is a good little spot.

Cozy place in the village at SSI. Stayed in a junior suite off the front overlooking Mallory. Room was very clean and pub and inn workers were very friendly. I agree with the other reviews the pub while very lively does produce some patron noise, but it wouldn’t stop me from staying there again. It’s also a short walk to the pier where I enjoyed my morning coffee.

The Inn is a nice, cozy B&B, except there is absolutely no parking for inn guests. The staff seemed very concerned with getting our car & plate information when we checked in, because they said they will tow otherwise. This confused me, as they have NO reserved parking for those guests staying at the inn. For example: We left for dinner, came back and found the lot and surrounding streets full. So, we went inside and asked if there was parking for Inn guests. His response was«You have to park across the street at Dairy Queen for the night». I explained that I was uncomfortable leaving my vehicle at Dairy Queen all night, and he responded«Well, we are open to the public. Sorry». What kind of hotel charges $ 200+ per night, yet gives parking preference to its bar patrons? When we asked if we could park in the spot listed as Guest Registration(the LAST open spot), he said we’d be towed immediately. Thanks for being so accommodating to your guests!(And FYI, this all happened at 8:30pm, so it’s not like it was in the middle of the night or anything…) Also, the pool was full all day with people playing loud music, bragging that they were from Brunswick and came to this pool because they were able to sneak in and use it without staying at the inn. So, don’t plan on getting much rest, relaxation, or privacy! The room is nice, but very small. If my husband opened the bathroom door while I was standing at the sink, the door would hit me smack in the back. Barely enough room to turn around! Our room advertised a balcony, but the chairs were so uncomfortable that my husband lasted 10 minutes before he couldn’t sit any longer. The view is nice and the inn has a quaint, cozy feel, but just not the relaxation that we needed, or the customer service that we had hoped for…

This is one sweet looking little hotel. Although I wasn’t able to book a room in the inn, I did however get to visit the pub and take a look around at the hotel. Situated off Mallery St in the village it offers an atmosphere that makes you feel as if you are at a private resort, while the village is only a couple of steps from the front door. The parts of the hotel we saw while there were really cute, from the quaint pub complete with live music, small swimming pool and the hotel’s Spanish style architecture. When we arrived at the pub(also the hotel office) we were greeted by a very friendly bartender and the few patrons that were in the bar. We were a little disappointed we were unable to get a room, but the bartender made us a drink and made us feel right at home in the pub. The pub is romantic and quaint, and during the winter you can enjoy a drink by the fireplace on the sofa while you relax and wind down for the day.

Always enjoying staying here, though it can be either loud(depending on crowd), or quiet(depending on the crowd) — I am sort of OK either way, but by wife prefers the Quiet Village Inn and Pub to the Loud version. Perfect place for late afternoon cocktail with often interesting visitors and locals(sharing great stories). The pub is, for me, the most intersting aspect of this property… probably because I love people.
