Hands down the best Italian restaurant in Stamford. The food is superb, the waiters very attentive but no overbearing and the ambience really casual and inviting. The prices are reasonable and the wine menu is truly good. We liked to see that the owner/executive chef took the time to walk around the restaurant and make sure that his patrons were happy.

Yes, Café Silvum is an excellent restaurant. Having grown up on Italian food and visiting Italy many times, I can truly say these guys do a good job. There are dishes that I have had there that I didn’t like but I have been going here for 10 years and I can say that we have been satisfied almost every time. Personally, I am not a fan of their raviolis. However, I did enjoy their seasonal pumpkin raviolis in a sage, butter sauce. I love their homemade cavatelli come il faceva mama! They will do half and half too so if you find two pasta dishes you like, just get a half order of each! They serve white beans and bread complimentary with every meal. Generous wine portions and a nice desert menu to top it all off! Now for the bad. This place is always packed. Tuesday night, yup, line out the door. Now I appreciate that people know good Italian food and it is one of the better restaurants but this makes it hard to plan a night out. To make matters worse, they have the strangest reservation policy and I’ve been given conflicting information from staff on this. I really wish they would post their reservation policy on their site. It used to be no reservations except parties of 5 or more on weekends. Then my husband and I went on a Tuesday night and we were told no tables, should have made a reservation. Apparently they now take them for parties of 2 or more. Called on a Friday, for a Saturday night reservation for 2 and told, no reservations on Friday or Saturday unless you have a party of 5 or more! Come on guys, even your staff is confused! As far as I can tell, make a reservation for any party Monday-Thursday. Make a reservation only for 5 or more Friday and Saturday. Otherwise, first come, first serve on weekends which kind of stinks because obviously those are their busiest nights most of the time. Overall, the staff is pleasant, service is decent, the food is excellent and we really enjoy this place. Just for the love of all that is holy, please post your reservation policy clearly because it gets really confusing and your staff isn’t even clear on the policy!

This is my favorite Italian restaurant in the United States. Every element is perfect. Ambiance: Charming and beautiful. Owner: Friendly and charismatic. Prices: Reasonable. Food: Oh my goodness, the food. Meat lasagna? YES. Orechete with mini meatballs? Holy cow. Fish? Divine. Seriously, I have eaten her countless times, and never been disappointed. Family and friends now drive to Stamford from New York just to eat with us here. Only problem is that there is always a long wait for dinner since it’s such a popular place. But honestly, it’s worth the wait.

Love this spot ! What nice people. Everyone who works there is welcoming. Went on Saturday when they don’t take reservations. The line was out the door. They give you free wine while you wait you just need to ask. The food was great. The black linguini with scallops was delicious. My husband got veal scallopini with Gorgonzola sauce he loved it. Great spot good prices I can see why they have a line out the door.

Completely legitimate, genuinely tasty and well-balanced; warm living-room atmosphere. I’d take my mom here, or a date, if I thought she had a good enough palate to appreciate it. Caesar salad was toothsome and not over-dressed; lobster ravioli had a nice, sweet, tanginess that almost reminded me of tikka masala! In a state with a lotta good Italian food, would eat here again.

I had been dying to try this place and finally went for dinner last night. I went with my boyfriend and we walked in and already felt the atmosphere was friendly and inviting. We were seated and quickly placed an appetizer order which was the Bruschetta. It was absolutely delicious because the tomatoes were so fresh. I ordered the homemade fettuccine with meat sauce and he ordered the orecchiette. Everything was cooked perfectly and so rich in flavor. Our server(so bad that I don’t remember his name) was an absolute delight. This is now my new favorite restaurant and can’t wait to go back. I follow them on IG and saw a picture they posted of homemade spaghetti and meatballs and hope thats one of the specials when we go back. Fantastic experience!

I’m embarrassed that I haven’t left a review for café silvium until now. In my opinion it is the best all around restaurant in Stamford. The food is outrageous and the service is impeccable, you are treated like one of the family here(even if you’re not a regular), this place is packed every night of the week. I have ordered so many different things here(most recently I got the lobster ravioli and before that the rigatoni gnact gnact), they change their long list of specials all the time and their dessert list is long and delectable. I just moved to TN and café silvium is on my short list of «must visit» restaurants when I come home.

Hands down one of the best if not best Italian restaurants in Stamford. The wait might be long during peak hours but it’s well worth it. From the delicious bread and bean table pickings to the delectable entrees café silvium embodies the perfect old school Italian restaurant. I’ve only tried the chicken scarpiello and cavatelli with mushrooms but both far exceeded my expectations. Pricing is fair as well and just an overall wonderful dining experience.

Another great delightful evening at café Silvium. Excellent service, the food was great as well. We ordered the mozzarella stuffed with prosciutto, simply divine! My husband ordered the sword fish, which was the best fish I have tried in my life! Note I do not like fish but this was just great! My virtual greetings and congrats to the chef. I ordered the rigatoni gnat gnat? Hopefully I spelled that right. The pasta was just superb. We also ordered the chicken breast with mushrooms and artichokes. Lastly the desserts, I ordered the chocolate mousse cake and my husband the Cartellate, these are melt in your mouth crispy dough bow ties sprinkled with powder sugar and fig syrup.(Tip: You should order a scoop of ice cream and whip cream on top). Thank you so much Fernando and Nick(They are the servers) for such an spectacular evening on my birthday and for being so attentive. I come here once a year but I don’t think I will wait this long to come back again ;)

Old time Italian food like my grandma used to make. I recommend the veal cutlet, its divine. This place is so good it doesn’t have to be open on Sundays, but you’ll wish it was. No reservations unless you are a party of 6.

If you’re looking for authentic Italian — you must check out Café Silvium! The service is impeccable and the food is outstanding. Decent wine selection and I love the atmosphere — very cozy and the closed off outdoor section is great for lunch. I wish I was able to come back every day to have the veal and pasta! So fantastic and well done, bravo!

We LOVE Café Silvium!!! It’s a family run business and they treat you like their family every time you have a meal there. We had my husband birthday dinner there and it was outstanding: we got the best food, a bottle of wine on the house, and such a fun and pleasant evening it is hard to forget! It’s always crowded and booked ahead of time but well worth waiting! This is an authentic Italian place to go in Stamford and no other places can beat that!

4 stars. Great food and great service. If you don’t have a reservation, don’t bother going — call first. This restaurant is ALWAYS busy. They’re mussels in red sauce are divine along with their meatballs with polenta. Entrées were branzino Oh My God to dye for. Highly recommend. Great for 8, 4 and of course party of 2. From beginning to end it was all great!

My friend went to Café Silvium for the first time last week and has been raving about it non-stop. He’s not easily impressed so I had to see what all the fuss was about. I went there for lunch today and all I can say is, «WOW! Where have you been all my life Café Silvium?» I’ll start with the service. From the time we walked in to the time we walked out, every one who we encountered was super friendly and attentive, but definitely not overbearing. It was quite busy when we arrived but service was anything but slow. We were greeted and seated right away, our waiter introduced himself immediately and he was very knowledgeable about the ingredients(and handsome haha!!!). We started with the mussels appetizer that was accompanied by the most delicious sauce I’ve ever tasted. I’m pretty sure that we finished all the bread in the basket dipping it in the sauce. If I have one criticism it’s that the sauce could’ve used a little spice(heat), but that is really a personal problem since I like extremely spicy food. We also had the bruschetta that was very simple yet so tasty. Of course I also sprinkled it with the sauce from the mussels so… :) For my entrée I had the black ink linguine with scallops in a basil marinara sauce. O-M-G… Perfect. Flavorful, light, fresh, just yummy! Delicious! I want more right now. I’m serious… The scallops were cooked perfectly, the linguine al dente and it was not in any way over sauced. In fact, there was the perfect amount of sauce for every bite and I got my heat by adding red pepper flakes which made it perfect for me. I’m notorious for not finishing my meals, especially during lunch and after downing 1⁄3 of two appetizers I thought that it would be impossible, but I could not stop eating. I’ll be returning very soon…

Hands down the best Italian food other than my grandmothers… and that’s just because she feeds me for free. I wanted to take the owner home so I could eat like that forever!

Being from West Texas I don’t often get to experience really good Italian cuisine, so I was excited to hear our group would be eating Italian during a recent weekend trip to Stamford. After our meal at Café Silvium, I have a new goal in life: Eat there again. I started with the Caprese salad — fresh mozzarella with tomato and basil, a traditional favorite of mine. It was easily the best fresh mozzarella I’d ever had, wonderfully creamy and moist but with just enough firmness, and the tomatoes were plump and flavorful. As an entrée I had the Rigatoni Gnact Gnact — rigatoni with prosciutto, pancetta and sausage in a vodka sauce. It was heavenly, the pasta cooked perfectly al dente, the sauce smooth and tangy yet with a creaminess and flavor that made me want to laugh it was so good, and just the right amount of meat. My wife had a special pasta dish the name of which I can’t remember — it was little tied up pouches of stuffed pasta in a creamy prosciutto and peas sauce — but it was heavenly. We’ve been eating Italian together for 25 years and we agreed this was the best dish we’ve ever had. Dessert was a nice Tiramisu for my wife and a crème brûlée with pears for me. They were good but it ws the pastas that floored us. The place was pretty crowded on the Friday night we ate there, and the parking lot is small, but whatever trouble we went to was worth it. The service was attentive and polite, and I never felt anyone was trying to upsell me anything. An overall excellent experience. I don’t know how I’m going to get back there, but I will find a way.

I went here on a Thursday night with a friend. I ordered lasagna and the calamari as an appetizer. The calamari was okay, it was a bit bland but I was so hungry that I ate everything. As for the lasagna, it wasn’t anything special. It barely had any meat in it. I just expected it to be better. But my friend ordered a dish that had shrimp and fettuccine and it was AWESOME. I wished I had ordered that plate instead on my lasagna. The tiramisu was great. It was light and fluffy. Great atmosphere and the waiter was extremely attentive.

Very homey little restaurant. Attentive service without being smothered. Went here for a business lunch last week and didn’t feel we were rushed or out of place. Some restaurants give you the sense of «How dare you conduct business in your establishment!!». Café Silvium was the opposite– quite welcoming actually. For lunch, I ordered the roasted salmon in a mustard cream sauce. Could possibly be the best piece of salmon I’ve ever had. Flawlessly prepared. Crispy on the outside and super tender throughout. The mustard cream sauce added a velvety richness to the(otherwise healthy) dish. Accompanying the salmon was a vinegar-based slaw that provided great contrast to the richness of the fish and cream sauce. I found myself having a bite of the bright, acidic slaw after a few bites of fish. Interesting combo, but I really dug it. My colleague ordered the homemade squid ink pasta with scallops.(Lots of garlic– so beware!) Our client ordered the veal chop in balsamic glaze with portobello mushrooms. Everyone raved about their dishes. PS– Large servings here too– I’d guess my salmon was almost 8oz. In summary, you can expect fresh, simple and well-executed Italian fare in a relaxed casual atmosphere.(Mostly everyone was business or business casual, however). I will definitely go back next time I’m in the Greenwich/Stamford area. Other notes: 1) Parking lot is small, so it’s hard to get a spot. Might need to park in adjacent shopping center and walk over. 2) Menu is HUGE and has daily specials. Hard to figure out what we wanted to eat. Not that that’s necessarily a bad thing– just wanted to comment. Keep up the great work!
