We’re eating hot pot and suddenly the gas tank exploded. This was so dangerous I cannot believe it. We ordered bubble tea 5 times for half an hour but the servants didn’t even care. We ask for bowls to eat with the hot pot and they brought plastic cups for us. They even said that oh sorry we didn’t have bowls so you guys had to eat plastic cup with hot pot instead(omg seriously?) the impolite waitress gave us an unacceptable attitude That i couldnt eat. Also, when we asked for more soup, the waitress poured cold water in our soup, splashing the water all over. she did not show guilty or apologetic manner. She spoiled the whole soup. then, they came out the bubble teas with no bubbles and without our permission, they put jelly. People in here did things without asking our permission. They also kicked us out of the karaōke room. Racist, irresponsible, rude, unprofessional– Every single staff in here(except for the old man). I’m definitely not going here for a second time. Such a waste.

I’ve tried uncle Chen’s, China Dragon and some others and I can say that so far this is the best delivery Chinese I’ve had. I got the Hunan beef and it was pretty good. It Had a decent mix of vegetables that tasted fresh and the sauce wasn’t too watery or thick and had a nuanced taste– not just spicy brown sauce. It arrived warm even though I entered the wrong address too.

Saltiest food i ever ate ever. No joke. Everything about the food and service here seemed great but i ordered drypot chicken to go and soup. Wow. Salty. My mouth is still recovering even after chocolate candy and milk. Both the soup and entrée were equally unbelievably salty. Still cant believe it.

The food was ok but our waitress was not. She was sitting at one table and eating with her friends from when we got there till we left. She made the order and any service like doing us a favor. We have to wait till she got a chance to place our order, however, we were the only table except the one she was eating at. We got the boxes for leftover ourselves because she didn’t had time for us. She didn’t even bother to look at us when we left.

My kids love this place. They have done so many things here. I like to spend my time motivating my family to do some art.

More of a 3.5. The place is decent for the only hotpot place around. They had an all u can eat deal, which I hear isnt there anymore, but if its there again I suggest u take it. Ordering A la carte will pretty much end up costin u the same. I liked most of the ingredients and the broths were ok too. Only thing I disliked was the meat quality. It was pretty much trash compared to hotpot on the west coast. Im not sure if its cause it was sliced to thick or if it was the meat quality itself, but the meat was not tender at all. Overall, even tho i hate AYCE, i would come back for that deal especially if i was cravin hotpot. This aint the greatest joint but itll def hit the spot. Oh btw service sucks. It took 30 mins to get an extra order of meat, but meh its an azn spot what do u expect.

Apparently they’re open, at least for the moment; I was given to understand the closure this summer was permanent and so posted a CLOSED notice, but it looks like they’re open for now. So. A hasty review. If you’ve not done hot pot before, this can be a treat, particularly for a large group. You have hot broths you order for the table, and then you get items to dip. Meats, fish, noodles and dumplings, and vegetables. It is a bit easy to over-order things to dip. It can be messy, and it’ll take a while since you’re cooking it yourself. My real issue is the service can be uneven, and I’ve had issues with not getting the same thing twice when ordering it the same way — particularly with the mushroom options. Vegetarian and Vegan is doable, though you’ll want to check on the broths. I can’t really speak to the non-Hot Pot food or the karaōke experience, though the rooms looked nice. So. Stop in, take over a big table with 8 – 10 of your closest friends, and do it family style with the items to cook in the pot.

First off, don’t bring a date here. Second, this might be a really fun date. Let me explain. This place has broths, then items(meats, fish, dumplings, vegetables, etc.) that you order and cook in the broths at your own table. It’s a fun concept, and the portions are generous. But overall, we did not have a good experience. My husband and I came in for dinner. We ended up being seated at a table for four, which was a bit of a challenge because the table was large to accommodate the hot pots, so we were so far apart that we couldn’t really talk. Add the distance to the noise level– the place was packed– and we managed to shout a bit at each other before we basically gave up. So if you’re kind of nervous about your date, this’ll work because you won’t have to talk much– you won’t even be able to. But there’s also a built-in activity, which takes some of the pressure off. But, if you WANT to talk, it’d be tough. Plus, the tables come down really low(again to accommodate the pots), but the chairs are normal height, so you can’t push your chair under the table and end up sort of awkwardly pushed away from the table, stretching across to put your food in the hot pots. Do bear in mind that I’m not tall. This might present less of a problem for a taller person. So if you don’t want to talk to your date, perfect. If you want to not feel and possibly look awkward… Oh well. The server was nice enough, but we left unhappy with our experience. Why? Well, the above issues didn’t help but if the food had been good we probably wouldn’t have minded a whole lot, especially since we’ve been together a while and no longer care how awkward we look. The problem was, the broths, while fine, didn’t lend much flavor. We both kind of sat there, bored with our food and picking at it half-heartedly until we got our check. It wasn’t until we were leaving that we realized there was a whole area of sauces that you’re supposed to use for your food. We never saw this until we were on our way out the door. We didn’t see any signs pointing this out, nor did we see any mention of it on the menu(not saying there were no signs or info in menu, but if there were, we never saw it). And our server, who stopped by a couple times, never pointed it out either. I feel like the fact that we were picking at our food and had none of the sauces should have warranted some direction from the server, but no such luck. We felt like we totally wasted our money on a meal that had almost zero flavor, and though the sauces probably help, we are so unimpressed we don’t plan to return.

Overview: Nice place for hot pot with great sauces and reasonable pricing! Food: After the mixed reviews, I wasn’t certain what to expect. I was, however, pleasantly surprised! Our hot pot was brought out within minutes of us ordering, with the meats and veggies not too long after. We ordered the kimchi broth which was amazing. We ordered the vegetable platter which was ENORMOUS and also the shrimp balls and sliced beef. Everything was fresh and delicious. I particularly loved the condiments bar! Recommend: Definitely get the kimchi broth! Atmosphere: I really liked the inside. The tables were rather awkward to sit at, but that’s no big thing. Service: The woman we had serving us was extremely friendly and helpful.

The soup based is quite decent considering that this place even exists in State College. Unfortunately, it’s too pricy since the portion is too little and we have to order so many things. It is ridiculous, they charge every single thing even just noodle and veggies. Second thing I hate the most is their table, I can’t even stick my leg properly under the table. I won’t even bother to come here anymore. Honestly, I am considering seriously to just buy my own hot pot set and make it at home since I went to this restaurant.

Foods are good, especially the lamb is very tasty. But the service is awful! We waited for half an hour to get the food after we already wait for a long time for the pot. We ordered two additional lamb, they just never showed up! We asked the waitress about it for more than five times and at the very last time she told us they were sold out…

Poor service. Extremely poor service. I was seated at 11 am as soon as the restaurant opened but the hotpot was not ready until 35 minutes later. When the server finally took out the hotpot there were no sauce selection.

Tried a lot of things with a group of five and it was great. NOTE: Expect to spend more than one hour, do not put too many ingredients in at once, and make sure you are fairly proficient with chopsticks and/or spoons(or bring a pasta scooper, as one friend did). But to the food: great selection, wonderful condiment/spice bar, super fun and attentive waiter, and lower prices than expected. Went for a long lunch and it was perfect. I imagine that dinner would be even longer and funner. Recommendations: Fatty beef(delicious), scallops(big and high quality), dumplings, pickled red peppers, and fermented bean curd. And, of course, veggies and noodles.

This was our first time having Chinese hot pot so I don’t have anything to compare to, but we really enjoyed it. Kind of like fondue so it’s as much about the experience as the food. Our waiter was very helpful with ordering and even helped us by creating some awesome dipping sauces at the condiment bar. We got the chicken and spicy pots and two bubble teas. Everything was great and if you enjoy karaōke the had cool private rooms. We will definitely come back next time we are in the area.

I am with mixed feelings reviewing 1000 Degree. I love hot pots, and I really want to love this place, but my dining experiences have made it harder and harder. A quick summery: Food: Ambiance: Price: Service: ? First off, the food is very fresh and quite tasty, with a lot if options, perhaps overwhelming for people unfamiliar with hot pots or authentic Chinese food as a whole. The place is also been completely and very nicely remodeled, or at least for how it looks. The expensive-looking dining tables are actually too vast for diners to chat across and too low to fit one’s legs comfortably. What a shame. However, this is only a reflection of this whole place: a 100% perfect notion, with an imperfect execution. Now, what makes it almost intolerable is really it’s service, which is lacking at best. I think the fundamental problem is that the restaurant still has not figured out an effective flow for managing the processes for so long. Even so, it is not forgivable for some of the rude behaviors on the servers’ part, and some training is definitely needed. In one instance, we sat for an hour before any waiter offers us water and beverage, or take our order. At last, we had to note down our own orders and sent them in to an apparently very annoyed server. They neglect or refuse to accommodate with customers’ requests, and would sometimes respond in sarcastic to discriminate manners, which is unbelievable, and happens more often than you would imagine, especially when the restaurant is crowded. My latest experience with them was so horrible that I almost wanted to suggest anyone to avoid this place entirely. But if you really are craving for some hot pots and have absolutely no means to cook it yourself, and if you are not so hungry and have the patience to wait for 30 – 60 minutes to get your food(or even seated), here is my recommendation: Make a reservation(even though it does NOT at all accelerate your wait; but they hate it if you don’t. I don’t know why either!); Eat some light food before you go(so you won’t be starved to death); Sit next to the person if you want to talk and hear him/her, instead of from across the table; Take whatever sh*t the servers direct your way. Who knows, he may be perfectly happy that day, and not ruin your meal! Bring a Chinese friend as a guide and interpreter, if possible, which is much needed; Enjoy your food(which is pretty good, and the only reason I had been returning)! After all, I STILL want to love this place, and hope its service catches up really soon. But, I do not know if I could summon up enough courage to give it another try anytime soon.

I came here for strictly for the hot pot and I thought it was done very well. When I came in, my boyfriend and I were seated at a table with four cooking chambers. Someone mentioned the low tables in their review and I have to second that. The table is a bit awkward when you first sit in them. Also, when you go with a party of two, you’re forced to put the pot a bit out of each from the other person. Other than that, there’s a ton of room for the many dishes you can order. We ordered one pot of broth, which came in a small deep pot. Having had hot pot at home, I was not used to this pot setup(it’s easy to lose things you put in even with the mini metal mesh strainers that are provided). There are many broths to order from, but I don’t think we got lucky here. Our chicken broth was a white murky broth and had a few floating chopped scallions, tomatoes, and a slice of potato. It was not flavorful at all; I didn’t taste any of the chicken flavor and had to use what was available at condiment table to make it more flavorful. The condiments bar was amazing! There are many sauces to try out, both for dipping and for changing the taste of your broth. There’s also chopped scallions, ginger, sugar, salt… you name it. If you are new to the many sauces available: try them all! I highly recommend the«Seafood Sauce,» which tastes like a light hoisin sauce. We ended up ordering a decent amount of food. It was more than enough for the both of us. The pork came rolled and frozen, and the angus beef was fresh and very tender. We also got straw mushrooms and frozen dumplings. Also, each hot pot comes with a small dish of veggies, which you should remember when you order. All in all, I think this is a wonderful place to go with a group of friends and I would definitely go again. The food was great and priced decently. My only real complaint is the lack of flavor in my broth, but I would definitely go back to try a different pot.

After getting a coupon in the mail, I decided to try this new place out. It’s a great addition to the great variety of asian restaurants at State College. Including tip and tax, we paid $ 40 for two people to share one pot of broth and left very full. The chicken broth was good with the addition of shacha sauce. If I went again, I wouldn’t order the dumplings. They came frozen and became soggy in the hot pot.

Wow. Seriously, though: WOW! I was so blown away by my recent dinner here that I am breaking my personal rule of never reviewing a place after only one visit. The owner(who runs half of State College’s Chinese restaurants & then some) has clearly put a LOT of thought, not to mention cash, into completely remodeling what used to be the old HiWay Pizza — in fact, I had to remind myself of what used to be in this location, and how dingy that place used to be. But no more. The front of the restaurant is bright, clean and inviting. There are special tables for those who come for the main attraction — the hot pot, as well as regular tables for à la carte Sichuan items. The special tables are available with either personal hot plates or hot plates for a table to share. My only criticism/warning about these tables is their construction, which I’m sure can’t be any other way since they contain the heating elements — but they are very, VERYLOW. So, if you’re fond of your kneecaps and would like to keep them attached and safely in place, keep that in mind when you sit down. It’s a little awkward, but once you get used to it, it’s all good. And by good I mean absolutely fantastic. You can choose between a great selection of different broths — spicy Sichuan, seafood, chicken, veggie, clam, beef, etc. etc., and then you choose from an extensive menu of items to cook in your broth — meats, seafood, vegetables, various kinds of mushrooms, tofu in all of its glorious variety, dumplings, different noodles… it sure takes a while to work your way through the menu. We picked two broths: the spicy Sichuan, which was incredible — studded with peppers, serious mà lá, and glistening with hot chile oil, and the veggie, which was a bit of a letdown — the broth was seriously lacking salt or *something* umami. It was pretty bland to the point of watery, but sorta made up for that by containing a good amount of veggies like lotus root and tofu skin(yes, I know that’s not a veggie). For our cooking items, we chose fatty beef, pork, black mushrooms, king trumpets, shrimp dumplings, scallops, 2 orders of udon noodles and 2 orders of the veggie combo — mostly napa, spinach, watercress & a few potato slices. The next thing to do is visit the condiment bar. And oh-my-freaking-goodness, does that condiment bar rock. I won’t list all the many excellent sauces & condiments here, and there’s also fresh chopped garlic, scallions, cilantro, ginger, chile peppers in all kinds of preparations, etc. to take the hot pot experience to a whole ‘nother level. The owner was nice enough to prepare a ‘special sauce’ for us – I believe it included *lots* of chopped garlic, sesame sauce, sesame oil, hot oil, soy sauce, scallions, cilantro plus a few things more. This little bowl of awesomeness then serves as a dipping sauce for your prepared foods, and you can refill it at any point, or mix yourself a completely new flavor experience. The service is incredibly friendly and attentive; the prices are moderate but fair, and you will NOT leave hungry. After we paid, we were given a brief tour of the karaōke facilities: several private rooms that can be reserved on an hourly basis with state of the art sound systems, comfortable couches and tables, and even a bit of a light show :-) As for now, the place is BYOB, but is supposed to get a liquor license in the future. I cannot recommend this place highly enough. And to think they only opened a week ago! No growing pains here, for sure. What a wonderful new addition to the State College dining scene!
