Best Thai food in State College. I highly recommend the Drunken Thai Noodles and the Calamari!

More of a 3.5 but Ive generally found the food to be pretty decent so i rounded up. The portions are pretty big but dinner prices can go up to an avg of 12 bux, which I find slightly excessive. I don’t mind the specials being 15 bux or so, but I feel the staples like pad thai or whatever should be below ten. Anyways, if you wanna keep your prices low, the lunch specials are where its at! Everything is 8 bux! The portions for the noodles were so big that I wonder how much id get for a 12 dollar dinner portion lol. The portion for the curries are about 2⁄3 the size of a dinner portion(and it costs 2⁄3 the times of a dinner portion) so u dont save much money there cept you dont hafta spend an extra 4 bux gettin the costco dinner sized portion thats gonna last you 3 days. Theyre really great about keep the food super hot for delivery. I usually get the food bout an 45 mins to an hr from order time and its always piping hot. PS: Dont get noodle soup as delivery… I got the Tom Yum Noodle Soup and all the noodles inside basically got too moist and broke apart. I think it woulda been fine if i ate it there… PS2: Ive had better pad thai. The flavor was fine. The noodles could have been better(chewier). Beyond that, they dont have a lot of fancy stuff, but they got all the staples. I really liked the curries and id probably order delivery from them again.

This unassuming hole in the wall was a pleasant surprise! We were hungry after a long day of thrift-store shopping, and we found that My Thai’s food makes up for a lack of presentation. It is nice for the price. We opened with the calamari appetizer and wontons– both were fantastic! My Thai Iced tea had almost no cream in it– which I found to be odd compared to every Thai iced tea that has made the trip down my gullet, but it was still tasty. My beau tried the Panang Curry and I ordered the Pad See Ew. Portions were large and filling, with plenty of leftovers(all hail the second meal!) I think we might have to go there again– tomorrow.

Very good environment and nice atmosphere. Very good service. The food is OK, kind of tasty but not delicious enough. And the amount of food is a little bit small.

I ordered the chicken pad Thai. The noodles were delicious and the portion was large. However, I could not eat the chicken. It was large slices of chicken that were tough and dry. If I got this again, I would just get vegetarian pad Thai.

Nice little Thai place with large portions. Bring your hunger. I’ve been passing through State College and visiting a friend. First time we went to the Pan-Asian place on the corner of the strip mall. We decide we’re working our way around — next time we’ll go to the HotPot place. After that is apparently a RiteAid, for which we’re pondering the logistics. I’m thinking potato chips and Ding Dongs, but, hey. We’ll figure that out in the months ahead. We started by splitting the calamari. It was tasty and well spiced, but not spicy at all which was a little of disappointing. My friend ordered a green curry, which she devoured, and I had a pad thai. It was tasty and tangy and not greasy. I also had a Thai iced tea, which did not impress me. It was rather tasteless. The place was quite clean, including the bathrooms. The bathroom I used was cute — I loved the sink! Very handicapped accessible, from parking spaces right across from the door, an easy to use front door, a well designed bathroom, and generally lots of maneuverability.

This place is great and I highly recommend trying it out. The waitress and cook did a great job creating the Basil Duck that my husband wanted and it was perfect. I had Shrimp Pad Thai and i was amazed how big the portion was and how large the shrimp were, not those little popcorn shrimp. Super good and will be back next time we are visiting State College.

We got delivery from My Thai, several dishes, soups, and a salad, the Green Papaya Salad, my favorite Thai dish, and a pretty standard dish. I have had it thousands of times … the salad was just and heavily tasting like garlic and salt, no hint of the other sweet and sour flavors you get in this dish. So I called the restaurant, mistakes happen, I wanted them to send me the right salad. The person I spoke to said it was probably made wrong, she didn’t say they would bring another but she said when the manager comes, she will speak to her and they will refund this. I wasn’t happy I wasn’t getting my Som Tam, but I was like oh well. An hour later I speak to a woman from the restaurant — I explained again that this tastes nothing like papaya salad, please either send me the right one or refund as the person before said. The woman said«that’s how we make it» while accepting that yes it should have some sweet and sour, and hearing me say this is just and very strong garlic taste only. She said they will not send a new one or do a refund, I could take it to the restaurant… I said I can’t leave home today that’s why I ordered delivery. She then spoke with a guy there who spoke perfect English, wouldn’t come to the phone and I could hear them talking, she was saying there is nothing wrong with the salad it just tastes like garlic. Obviously she doesn’t think that the taste is something entirely different for a classic dish an issue. The whole conversation was absurd, and messed up. They send something we didn’t order or something that is very bad… This is an incredibly standard dish. And they won’t do anything??? The salad was only 6.25, a fraction of our entire bill… I was unhappy not to have the salad, but this isn’t even about money… the whole treatment was ridiculous. I asked to talk to the man the woman was talking to and she refused to let me talk to him, I said this is no way to do business and she said«I don’t make that decision,» well… obviously. The Bangkok noodles, the Massaman Curry, and the rice were very bland… but edible as we were hungry. However, what is Thai food without flavor? Chicken satay sauce was ok(it’s hard to mess up peanut sauce really!), but the satay was dry and tiny like a lollipop. Very strange. The soups weren’t edible.

I loved this place. This was my first time having Thai food ever and I was super excited. Needless to say, I wasn’t disappointed! I was directed to the Thai tea and red curry by my dining partner. Thai tea– SOGOOD! If you love good black iced tea, this will be your new favorite!(Maybe it will be just your cup of tea, hahahahaha) anyway, you can tell its high quality black tea and with cream added,(I think coconut milk), this is heavenly. Red curry– came in a HUGE portion, which I love; also had it for lunch the next day,(it’s just as good for leftovers)! Anywho, it came with the curry and rice separate and we both asked for it to be not too spicy, but just a little. The veggies were fresh, I got beef in mine. Everything was cooked perfectly. And it was a fantastic mixture of savory, sweet, and spicy. My mouth is watering just thinking about it!!! I must have more!

If you’re stopping by, get the Panang Curry! It’s one of the best dishes. As a vegetarian I typically love the options Thai food provides me with, and the food at My Thai is a wonderful, flavorful option. My husband and I are regulars!

Just ate there on July 5 and omg, what happened!!! Portion size is smaller and service is downright awful! My entrée was cold and all they seemed to do was microwave it which pulverized the vegetables and the sauce evaporated! Based on this latest experience, I won’t be coming back again anytime soon!

My daughter and I love to meet on Thursdays in this place. We usually order chicken satay and crab rangu for appetizer. The Entrée varies between pad sieu, duck, pad thai, laarb, tom yom, and kom kho kai. I apologyse for the spelling. Everything is delicious. The waitress is very smily. I do not recommend the fried rice, it is very spicy but has no taste. I like the decoration, not bad. I never hear music in this place. The bathrooms are very dark. Enjoy. I hope you like it. Oh! I forgot the most important thing! The price is very good.

My Thai has a large menu and is in a great location. They have plenty of options if you are vegetarian, vegan, and/or health conscious. It’s also one of the rare places in State College for people who love spicy food(I tend to love the Eggplant dishes). Another good thing about My Thai is their affordable lunch menu. Dishes are under $ 8, and they don’t charge extra for shrimp. However, I am docking them two stars for two major reasons. I used to order delivery and eat there at least once a week, but I noticed that the service got worse over time. Occasionally, I have eaten in the restaurant and was treated disrespectfully by one of the male waiters, who may have been the manager or the owner. The few times he waited on me, he did not give our table any water, but greeted every single table that came in after us with a smile and water. Once. he didn’t give me or my colleague water, and frowned when we asked for it. During this same visit, he brought me the wrong dish and tried to argue with me when I politely pointed out that I had ordered something else. The only possible reason that I can think of for this poor treatment is racism. I noticed a clear pattern each time I visited the restaurant, and there was nothing else that differentiated me from the other patrons. Both my Caucasian and Chinese colleagues pointed out that they were being treated better than I was, and commented on his rude behavior. Furthermore, they had an immigration raid last year, which raises some questions about ethics related to fair pay, health and food safety, among other things. In fact, I couldn’t help but notice that the food quality dropped pretty dramatically after that occurred. Nevertheless, the restaurant offers free delivery and is walking distance from campus, but away from downtown. If you eat inside, it is well-decorated and has a nice atmosphere that makes it a good place to study, relax, have a date night, or an intimate meal with co-workers and friends.

The Food:(below average) After this experience, I see no reason why someone would choose My Thai over Cozy Thai. Let me break down my order and explain my issues: Dumplings(appetizer): On the outside, these cute little dumplings looked appetizing with some good-looking texture. However, once I took my first taste of the dumpling, I realized that I had no idea what I was eating. The contents of the dumpling are unrecognizable meat, or so I can only assume and pray. The flavor of the dumpling was disappointing. If there were salt salt on the dumpling, the flavor may have been non-existent. Once the dumplings sat around and became luke-warm, they were even less appealing to the taste-buds. Tom Yum Ghoong Soup(comes with Lunch entrée): Indeed, this was a spicy soup and it had my nose runny in no time. However, the appearance of the soup was off-putting: red oily spots separated from the remainder of the clear broth. There were only a few pieces of mushroomsand shrimp. The mushrooms were yummy and soft, but the shrimp tasted like it came out of a raman bag. Once the mushrooms and shrimp were gone, there was no good reason to finish the broth. Phad Si eui(aka Soy Sauce Fried Noodles) Main Entrée: The main entrée was actually delicious, if not average. The noodles were soft and flavorful, with the upbeat kick from the soy sauce. The vegetables had a good steamed texture, without being too soft. The beef was cooked until tender and mixed well with the entire dish. Overall, it made for a pleasing presentation and good meal, and was more than I could eat. Drink(Hot Tea): This was probably the best part of the meal. The hot tea came in its own personal tea kettle, along with a quaint little tea cup. Inside the kettle, the tea leaves were still soaked with hot water and gave a more authentic feel to the presentation. The Atmosphere:(average) Knowing the sparse and unappealing shopping center that My Thai is located in, I didn’t expect much in terms of the dining environment. However, it was more comfortable and inviting than expected: nice wall paintings and spacious seating. As an extra benefit, the restaurant is kept cozy in spite of the harsh winter cold. The Price:(average) The prices were very appropriate for the food quality, services, and atmosphere. The entire kettle of tea was ~$ 2.50, the unpleasant dumplings were $ 4.95, and the main entrée was $ 7.95. Although I do not know Cozy Thai prices off-hand, I imagine these are slightly less. The Service:(Above Average) In spite of those nasty dumplings, our waitress was very pleasant and attentive to our needs. She seemed to have a personality and genuinely enjoyed working at the restaurant.

Takeout Tip: Make sure that what’s in your takeout container is actually what you ordered… I’ve only had two takeout errors in my 7 years in State College and they’re both from this place. It’s inconvenient, and the opportunity cost of getting a refund on the difference is too high(ain’t nobody got time for that!). The food is relatively good though, so I’ve been lenient with them– until now. So do yourself a favor– and save yourself a headache– and check before you swipe!

I ordered My Thai frequently and visited the restaurant often in my first year here(3 years ago); however, more recently(in the past year-ish) the quality seems to have gone downhill. It’s still good for some greasy takeout — but that’s really all it is now… Not as fresh or flavorful as it used to be. I wonder if they got a new chef or something, because it’s just way too greasy and the flavors very one-noted. The delivery guy rules, though! Always quick and a smiling face :)

A pleasant surprise and a hidden gem far away from college students. Far off the beaten path, you’d probably never see My Thai just driving along Westerly Parkway. Small and unassuming in a strip mall, the interior is very well decorated and seems pretty new. My father and I were greeted immediately by our hostess and we were able to sit anywhere we wanted(it was Saturday night after the PSU-MSU game), as the place was not crowded at all. Starving, we ordered quite a bit off the menu. For appetizers we ordered the Crab Ragoons and the Tom Yum Ghoong soup. The Crab Ragoons($ 4.95) were some of the best I’ve ever had — flaky golden brown outside with a sweet inside and what tasted like real crab meat. It was served with a sweet and tangy dipping sauce that I could have eaten by itself. The Tom Yum Ghoong soup($ 5.75) was served with mushrooms and shrimp in it, and the broth was thick and a little bitter, similar to a spicy tomato soup. Next, we ordered the Drunken Noodle and the House Special Rice. The Drunken Noodle($ 10.95) was well prepared, with soft noodles and plenty of vegetables, although it wasn’t really spicy at all(probably easily fixed if I asked for it to be spicier). The Fried Rice($ 10.95) was also delicious — the rice was pillowy and soft with vegetables and special sauce. It should be noted that the serving sizes were MASSIVE — there are easily three meals here, so if you think the price is too high just remember it will feed you for a whole day. Overall, I had a very pleasant dining experience here, and it was nice to find such a high quality Thai food place away from campus.

This place does not even compare to Cozy Thai. Just ordered here because it is sunday and cozy isnt open. Shrimp overcooked in pad thai, dumplings are crap with cheap shredded chicken on the inside. Everything was hot just not the best quality. I will be sticking with cozy thai from now on… low grade thai not worth the expensive price.

Anyone who skips past strip mall Thai Food is missing out. This place is great. Reasonably priced, and food made the way I like it. HUGE portions though, so think about that when ordering Since I was alone, I ended up with a lot more than I intended to have, though enough went home with me for lunch and dinner the next day! The soups were perfect — and a large enough serving that I would order individual bowls even in a group. The spring rolls were perfect — plump, filled with flavor and the wrapping just the right tempt. The Main dishes — lets just say I was barely able to walk after I attempted to eat the entire HUGE bowl of curry and just looked at the Laab and said«that needs to be to go» Which, was perfect — evne the next day. Spiced, tasty and moist enough that it survived storage for twelve hours. Stop here if you’re in State College — it isn’t right next to the campus, but a short ways south. Well worth the visit. They may even deliver, but I’m not sure about that.
