This is a clean and well-managed property. Breakfast was served in a polite manner with plenty of hot and cold options. The gym was small but clean and the pool is adequate. I would knock them on the room where they didn’t have a quilt on the bed. I had to get out a spare blanket from the cupboard. Why not? It’s not Florida, its cold up here. The kitchenette in the room is well appointed. The bathroom was basic but clean and well maintained. My room was adjacent to the elevator shaft which meant a lot of mechanical noise. Beware those rooms. I noticed dogs on property, per their policy. Altogether a pleasant stay.

I did not spend a lot of time at the property, but they were extremely helpful and pleasant. I was moved from the Courtyard property about a block away because they were overbooked. The folks here were very helpful and the property was very nice. There are several really cool guest mingling activities that the schedule Monday through Wednesday and was bummed that I had missed them. Two small complaints… First, the end of hallway door nearest to my room was puzzling to get my room key to work in it. Frustrating, but it worked after several attempts. Second issue was that my room smelled like someone had hosted a fish fry in my room. I did not complain because the smell was not lingering. Room was nice, clean. Kitchenette, living room with separate bedroom and bathroom set up. Used the couch for my suitcase as there was no luggage rack. Refrigerator kept stuff cold. Overall liked the room but think the thermostat needs to be updated to digital as it would make temperature control easier.

Have stayed at my share of Marriott Properties and this one had everything going for it minus those steep charges and prepayment on football weekends. Luckily I stayed on a weekend when most of State College was in Philly for the PSU game and I was able to get rooms at a reasonable rate. Staff and service were tops and I got asked endlessly if there was anything they could do to help and if I needed to help to ask. Rooms were clean and property was well maintained. The breakfast area was a little small, but as most folks were enjoying their stay so much, everyone was hospitable and made room for each other. Property is not walking distance from campus, but the drive is not bad(10 – 15 minutes). I am sure if it had to be done, walking would not be impossible. We enjoyed our stay and recommend the property.

The staff is amazing! They helped me send some crucial documents to a client! The accommodations are great! We are relocating and this is our interim home and it’s been great!

I stayed here in early August of 2013 for a week. One thing that stood out for me was the excellent customer service at the front desk. We arrived at midnight after an all day road trip and the gentleman at the front desk couldn’t have been nicer and the courtesy continued with the entire staff the rest of the stay. One reason we choose this hotel was that it was a relocation trip to State College and we had our dog. It was so nice to see a dog friendly hotel that was clean, welcoming and smoke free. Also loved the fact that they had a coin op washer and dryer. In the lobby is a small mini mart where you can buy detergent, sundries or even a microwave dinner for your room. The rooms are nice and spacious with a kitchenette, sofabed and bed(studio) or larger ones are available with a separate bedroom. It is located a short drive from downtown but then again most hotels in State College are as well. They are also walking distance to a friendly family owned restaurant called Autoport which was a great place to enjoy a casual dinner. We dined there several times during our stay. I would stay at Residence Inn again without hesitation.

I would give this place a four-star rating but their business model of making you pay in advance for the entire stay four months ahead is cheesy. Yes it’s a college town. But this is abusive. Especially when you’re Platinum Elite. Even if one weren’t, this is not how to make friends and influence people. But they have you over a barrel and there are not many other places to stay here. On the other hand, their customer service is very good, as is their physical plant. It has undergone a recent renovation and it shows in its curb appeal. Rooms are clean and comfortable. Location is unbeatable. And puppy friendly.

3.5 Stars. Stayed here in August, 2011 for one night while moving from New Jersey to Chicago, IL. This was pretty much the only place around town that took cats, and we had no choice. The clerk was nice to talk to, but he had little knowledge about what’s around the town(restaurants, etc). The room was nice and spacey, but somehow it was a bit damp. The free breakfast was fairly good. Not a bad choice, but I guess it was a bit of a reach for 4 stars.

Its not the greatest hotel in the world, but its clean and its affiliated with Marriott. The«residence» part is useful since its nice to have a mini-kitchen and fridge. Probably the best feature is that the Residence Inn is dog friendly. Its amazing how many hotels don’t allow dogs.

Clean, comfortable, friendly staff. With a good breakfast included and the ability to cook in your suite it is almost like being at home. My preferred hotel in State College.
