I stumbled upon this company’s products last year. For some time now I have been ridding myself and my home of products containing noxious chemicals and instead finding or making healthy alternatives that I can trust. I am troubled to know, for example, that in Europe, Japan and Canada over 1,300 chemicals have been banned for use in cosmetics and skincare products. In the United States that number of banned substances is 9. It’s no wonder that rates of cancer, autoimmune and other diseases are at an all time high. Corporations with financial interests in the scads of money that is raked in, do nothing but obfuscate the dangerous realities of most makeup and skincare products sold in the US. We are left to do our own research and to worry about ourselves… trust me, no one is looking out for you… including the FDA. The good news is that there are companies trying hard to produce helpful and quality products that are truly quality, healthy products that don’t have the potential to cause harm. Relying on a label that says«all natural» doesn’t cut it. Fatface Skincare products are based on an old-fashioned premise which is that«back in the day» the skincare treatments and skin softeners our ancestors used involved animal tallow. And indeed the basis of the items Fatface makes uses natural animal fats from pasture raised, grass-fed cows. Fatface buys the tallow from another super duper company called Fatworks. Please don’t be turned off by the thought of using lard or tallow. The tallow comes from healthy animals who are raised well and produce both food and food grade products that our great-great grandmothers(and before that) were happy to make excellent use of. We have been sold a false bill of good for generations now telling us that fat is dangerous to our health.(you can read reams about the 1950s junk science of Ancel Keys that we are still spending time today debunking. ). Fat is in fact healthy to eat and healthy to use when sourced from safely and humanely raised healthy animals. The tallow used here is not from factory farmed animals… a practice I hope to see eliminated in my lifetime. Fatface doesn’t make very many products which I think is a good thing. They seem to have perfected a small number of very useful skincare products and I now use them all. This includes the Myrrhaculous Face Cream, the«Body Butta», the deodorant they call Stank Stop,(the only non-chemical deodorant I have ever used that actually works!), the FatStick(love this!) and the«Cleansing Oil»(who would have thought you could get your makeup off and skin spotless and softened by using oil!?) My skin has been softer, more supple and overall in better condition since using this line of products. Everyone on my Christmas list this year is getting something from Fatface in their stocking. Ordering on-line is simple and generally the products come quickly. They are made in small batches by hand so occasionally there is a wait but given the high quality, I appreciate the care put into the creation. I highly recommend.
