If I could give less I would. Terrible service and sushi! Please don’t waste your $$.

During our weekend stay we decided to pick up sushi(Asian food) within walking distance since we both fell ill. We initially wanted soup but ended up not getting any. You know how that goes. As far as the food goes, my potstickers were amazingly crispy and fully cooked. Our fried rice was made better than we had hoped. Chicken wings were also really, really flavorful and good for the price. I actually wanted some sushi but felt at the time fully cooked meals were probably the wiser choice. Service — the manager(?), this demanding, rude woman was helping us. She walks in about 3 minutes after opening to open. She basically yells at everyone as a manner of communication and she was just really rude. Think Chinatown rude if you have any idea what I mean. I’m not describing how they sound normally, I mean arguing, loud, rude, obnoxious, poor service. She also walks away with our credit card for ages, hands it off to someone else, comes back not remembering where it went, and a 3rd person walks out with it unsure of who to give it to. When we asked her where our food was and why it was taking so long, she basically snapped back and said«OKAY, I’ll go check on it.» She comes back to tell us it’ll take a while longer, walks away for unknown reasons, and someone else walks out not sure of who to give the food to as well. The most confused place we’ve ever been to was making us feel nauseous. The air is also completely cut off so if you walk in and feel claustrophobic, it’s not you. If we do ever come back, we definitely won’t be eating in.

I went on a Saturday and for some Reason they only had one chef, which made seating limited. The server was nice but the food was terrible, I was grossed out. The food was over priced for the quality. My husband ordered Kung pao chicken which came with no rice. To be honest save your money and eat at the food court it’s way better.

Everything was delicious! And I’m a sushi snob from San Francisco. Decided to try this place only bc it was walking distance and everything else was about to close. Very surprised how fresh the fish was. Salmon sashimi Hamachi negiri Warm salted edamame Seaweed salad(just ok) Combo chow mein(not typical chow mein noodles but they were really good!) Service was great. Had a perfect dirty martini while we waited. Highly recommend

We figured Harrahs would at least offer a good sushi experience. Wow! This was soo bad! We’re giving 2 stars because we actually ate the food. After a long day on the road we were hoping for some simple and basic sushi. The fish was pale and almost paper thin for an expensive price. The Tuna Tataki roll my wife ordered seemed as if dehydrated beef jerky instead of ahi tuna. Pickled ginger and wasabi seemed old. But… our server, Cindy made us laugh.

Super friendly staff and great service, truly excellent. Our waitress helped us understand the menu, gave some advice and was really attentive. The interior of the restaurant is really nice. It has an open kitchen and a cozy atmosphere. We were 6 people at our table and ordered a bunch of different food. Everything was served nicely and fast. I really enjoyed the tiger roll and the diamond roll. Both delicious. The food was really good, but not amazing. Overall a nice restaurant experience which I would recommend someone else!

I was so excited to enjoy some delicious sushi and was so disappointed! Service was bad– we waited 10minutes after being seated to order some drinks… We only ordered 3 rolls since nothing else looked very appetizing. Tahoe roll was ok, 7stars was meh and Diamond roll was gross– tasted like rotten salmon. I won’t be coming back.

My family dined at Sushi Kai at Harrah’s Casino Lake Tahoe on Saturday night. The service was terrible, it took about 15 minutes for the unfriendly waitress to even acknowledge us. So once we ordered drinks, we decided to order our meal selections. Well our order took 45 minutes, the waitress never even checked in on us or gave us drink refills. We took one bite of sushi and refused to eat anymore. It tasted horrible and was stale. We spoke with the manager and she was understanding and didn’t charge us. I’m a local concierge and will never recommend this restaurant to our guests.

Definitely not worth the money. 1. They lost our reservation… Luckily I had the open table Confirmation. 2. The $ 20 chow mien is the same low quality dish I ate in the buffet 2 weeks ago. The sweet and sour pork came from a frozen packet at Walmart. Our $ 70 meal was worth $ 25 in a nice Chinese restaurant in any big city. Save yourself money and time and go to a buffet.

Came here to eat with my family for Christmas Eve. We had a reservation for 8 at 6:30pm. My brother and I get to the restaurant first to find out the hostess, Jade, has given our table away to another family of 8. We had to wait for another table to get set for us. The food is good, but the meat portions are very small.

I went here solo and sick as a dog during a weekend trip to Tahoe. Everyone I went with was busy partying it up but I was stuck resting in the hotel room with lots of fluids and kleenex. When dinner time rolled around, I realized I needed something with a bit more substance. I walked over and was seated at the bar… Service and atmosphere were fine and the food was mediocre. I had a golden state roll and soup. It did the job and provided the substance I was looking for, but it wasn’t anything to write home about. I wouldn’t go out of my way to go here, but if you find yourself in South Lake Tahoe and in need of some Japanese(or Chinese) food, you will find it here.

Simply unbelievable. Finally! A decent Chinese restaurant in South Lake Tahoe! We had the chow mein and sweet and sour pork after an amazing array of sushi prepared but Chef Hyun You(«Smiley»). She is talented and lovely in every way. Highly recommend.

This place service is excellent But the food was not that good and WAY over priced. If the food you want is not on the menu, they are willing to make it but it will be over charge. Example, I wanted Tapiko roll, they didn’t have it but they made it. But was over charge. Bottom line, paid too much for for food that wasn’t good or filling!

Went here because we were in the casino at the time and were hungry. I got excited to see that there was sushi but was honestly let down by it. I ordered the Tarantula roll and it was so not yummy. the tempura crab was just absent. It was there, but it made the whole roll a giant crunchy thing with like absolutely no crab meat present. No good flavor, all I tasted was fried bits and pickled daikon. Super weird. And the spicy mayo seems to be wasabi mayo, which is a let down to my taste buds because I don’t like wasabi. I just assumed it would be sriracha mayo or something, my mistake. I should have asked. Boyfriend ordered the Pork Fried Rice, which we shared, and the Mongolian Beef. The Fries Rice was delicious and we both rated the Mongolian beef a 3⁄5. It was good but not amazing. For dessert, Green Tea Mochi ice cream! It comes with two pieces which was the perfect portion for us two. Yum! The service was good, every waitress that stopped at our table was super friendly and nice. Prices were high for the quality of food in my opinion, the only thing id go back to eat would be the fried rice… but I think I’d go look at other options before I come back.

The food is so weird and expensive. The soup is extremely salty. The vegetable of the day is full of one green vegetable and it’s already ALL yellow! The waiter gave us one full kettle of tea and left us there… Speechless…

Mediocre sushi at 5-star prices. I can’t comment on the rest of the menu since two sushi rolls were all it took to convince my wife and I we’d had enough. The staff were courteous but not outstanding. Move on…

Wow! Didn’t expect such delicious sushi and Asian food at a casino/hotel. The wonton soup was superb! Great flavor. The 7 Star roll, though expensive at $ 20, was fantastic. Fresh fish, avocado, crab, tempura shrimp, and more I can’t remember! Wow wow wow! Kung pao chicken was tasty though I wouldn’t recommend the dishes because it seemed«bland» in comparison to the sushi and soup. Inari was a good finish. Overall amazing and I want more!!! $

Excellent sushi. We were truly surprised. We were hesitant when we read the menu. They have a limited variety. They also offer Chinese food. The koi fish in the huge aquarium /tank are beautiful. Or as my Dom said, dinner in a tank. The dress is nice casual. The staff was super nice.

Boyfriend and I were craving sushi while in Tahoe so we stumbled across Sushi Kai. Although they only had 2 reviews, we braved it and tried it anyways. Right away, we were asked if we had reservations because all the tables were full. She told us she’d seat us around 8:45pm-9:00pm when we had arrived at 7:50pm. We waited around 5 minutes before my boyfriend went back to the hostess to let her know that he’s a Diamond member and thats when she told us she could seat us right away at the sushi bar. We got seated and noticed there were 4 other seats available at the sushi bar but she wanted us to wait till 8:45 — 9:00pm? Shady. Anyways, we were starving so we ordered a bunch of food. — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — — – –Miso Soup –Japanese Colada –Some cold sake(i forgot the name) -(2) 5pc Salmon Sashimi -(2) 5pc Yellowtail Sashimi –Spicy Trio Roll –Diamond Roll –Mango & green tea mochi ice cream. Can’t say much for the drinks. The cold sake was good – I forgot the name however but I believe it was the first one on the list for«cold sake by the glass» My drink however, was disappointing. Since it was called«Japanese Colada» I somewhat expected a frozen drink however it was just a mixed drink with a funky milky taste to it. I’d pass on this drink. I really enjoyed my miso soup; so simple yet so good. The sashimi was very fresh and I liked how they were generous with the cuts. The salmon was my favorite. The rolls on the other hand, were lacking. The spicy trio was very plain and just tasted like rice with a bunch of cucumbers and siracha sauce on top. The Diamond Roll was supposed to have a special soy miso glaze on top but it was really heavy and too sweet. It masked the fish inside the roll and the glaze was just really overwhelming overall. We had to scrape the glaze off before eating the rolls. I was asked for the mochi ice cream as I had been craving ice cream all weekend but they were such a disappointment. The mochi ice creams were old. You could tell because the mochi was stiff and hard rather than soft and chewy. They gave us mochi’s that came from an opened box that probably sat around for atleast a day or so. Blah, not good at all so pass on that as well. Overall, it was an okay experience. I really only enjoyed the miso soup and sashimi. Our total came out to be about $ 120 and thats including the $ 4 discount we received for showing a Total Rewards card. Was it worth the $ 120? No, but being in a place like Lake Tahoe, I guess you can’t really be that picky.

Decided to try sushi out here and stumbled upon this place. The host was very friendly. My waitress was new(2nd day) so I won’t review too hard on her. I didn’t know what pickled Daikon was so Chef«Smiley,» they called her, gave me a sample to help me out. I liked it so I went with the yellow tail and the Dragon Roll. The Dragon Roll was laid out beautifully as if it were a real dragon(cherries for eyes and a tail at the end). I liked the daikon but thought it had too much in the roll. Yellow tail was good. Won’t get on the customer service too much because, as I said, she was new. She made minor mistakes on my overall order and needed more training on interacting with customers. That’s all I will say. Will try this place again next time and hopefully see an improvement, and to try a more tasteful roll.
