I’ve been going to this salon for over 10 years. I go to Valentina, she always cuts my hair the way I want it. Vicky waxes my eyebrows I won’t let anyone else touch them.

Great salon! Been going to Valentina for years for highlights, cuts, and updo’s. She always does exactly what I want and is a pleasure to be around. I highly recommend the salon, especially Valentina.

This place IMO is all hype, I went here several years ago and my hair was fried. Got highlights and lowlights and I just remember my hair breaking off. Also extremely overpriced.

I have been here several times but the last two visits were horrible. The first time, the lady wanted to get to the next appointment that she didn’t cut my hair properly. I came back the next day and got it fixed from George. He wasn’t bad but he wasn’t very social and just did his job. The second time I went, the lady spent the entire time talking about how bad and dead my hair was. I understand saying it once but no need to continue saying it through your the haircut as well as after!!! The pricing also went up, it’s not worth paying that much and getting the attitude from these snobby people. Just because you work in a salon doesn’t give you the right to insult people!!! I hope they work on their attitudes! I will be going to Classique Salon from now on!

Almost a year I’ve been a monthly regular at Avanti. I absolutely love this place… I always see George — from long and blonde hi lights to going short black and layered, any style, color and cut has been beyond perfect. I’ve been to different salons in the past and never received compliments from friends and family the way I do now.
Understandably their schedules are full of appointments, the girls and George always are able to work you in during the week to accommodate. During the past year my visits are always the same consistently– arrive and greeted by all with a hello and smile, offered coffee and snacks. I honestly can say every appointment I have I’m seated to start and do not wait. From color to wash, cut to blow. I believe they manage their schedules well and this pleases me to not wait for an appointment.
Again I strongly recommend giving Avanti a try. Added bonus is the nice products they always have stocked that I enjoy so much!

I am very hard to please when it comes to hair/​highlights. Over the years I have tried tens of hairdressers and after some time was looking for someone who will understand exactly what I need and how I need it… Until a friend of mine recommended Valentina from Avanti Salon. Valentina is a great hairstylist and a great person! I am always looking forward to seeing her cause I not only get great highlights and haircut but also incredible service! Recommend!

I couldn’t be happier with the services that I receive at Avanti salon. I have my hair and nails done here and always leave ecstatic. I love the way that they match my natural color and add highlights to give my hair dimension. I cannot rave enough about how they cut and style my hair. The nails and the waxing that they do here is phenomenal.
I recently got married and Avanti did my hair and makeup for my special day (as well as my bridal party). The entire staff made that morning such an amazing experience for us.
If you are looking for an upscale salon, I wouldn’t go anywhere besides Avanti. I have been going to them since I moved to Staten Island and I am one extremely satisfied customer.

I went to Avanti’s because I heard it was supposed to be the best and it was my son’s wedding… it was a HORROR! I wanted my hair colored as blonde on blonde, what I got was HORRIBLE and I went to the wedding almost in tears… my hair had patches and patches of brown hair and when I went to have it combed out in Makeovers, the woman tried as best she could to hide the brown patches… I called Avanti’s, spoke to Posha, she told me there was only a 7 day make-​over and I had to come at their convenience… I didn’t even bother going… HORRIBLE place, cost me $ 204. to have my hair ruined!

When I lived on Staten Island this was the primary salon I went to for haircuts. Was always very happy with my cut. A bit on the pricey side though.
I came once for color however and had a miserable time. I had blonde hair at the moment and came in to get my roots done. The woman put my entire head in zebra-​esque highlights. A disaster. But this was one instance. If it hadn’t been for this catastrophe I would’ve given 4 stars.

I haven’t been here in a while because of the price but I’ve always enjoyed my experiences here especially with Amy. Every time I wanted to try something new with my hair she would talk me through it to make sure it was exactly what I wanted. She was always professional. If it wasn’t so expensive I would still be getting my hair done by her.

Kseniya hit the nail right on the head when she said they have piss poor rude attitudes. I’ve used a stylist there since 2004, and man what a BIOTCH! I hate to go there but her cuts and blow-​outs are great for long, thick, curly hair like mine.

Avanti is FANTASTIC in hair coloring! I have been going there for the past 12 years and have never left disappointed. The best colorist there is sofia — she works fast and effortlessly.

Over priced + snotty attitudes = not a place for me.

This place is AMAZING for waxing… I must say that Russian lady seriously knows what she’s doing. It was quick and painless :)
Only draw back is its price which is suuuuuuuper expensive.
Never went here for a haircut but my friends have and they love their cuts.

I will go as far as to say that this was the least satisfying haircut of my life.
Last June, I was feeling a bit impulsive, bored with my hair and all swept up in the craze of the Victoria Beckham bob. Coincidentally, this was also around the time that my mother decided she and I didn’t spend enough quality time together. Not being one to argue against a free haircut, I allowed her to convince me into going to Avanti with her. I figured, «hey, if she loves the place so much…» No. Wrong. So wrong.
At this point I should mention that my mother and I have very different hair types. She has fine, wavy and easily manageable hair. My hair is best described as a mane– curly, poofy and, much like a lion, requires to be tranquilized before it can be brought into contact with human beings.
I should have known better, I really should have. In hindsight, I was probably hoping that the stylist would talk me out of the Beckham bob and create something truly flattering for my hair type. Definitely the wrong place to go for a style consultation, much less for some friendly conversation during, what will from now on be referred to as, the procedure.
Nary a smile was spared. There is a very slippery slope that starts at detached professionalism, steadily declines into pretension, and further, rudeness. Avanti has successfully managed to snowball down that slope. As if the sleek, modern interior of the salon gives the employees a license for an attitude? Hello? Must I remind you that we’re in Staten Island, of all places? When I was called to get my hair washed, the woman all but rolled her eyes when I asked where it was I had to go. Oh, behind that thing, there? I didn’t realize that vague hand gestures took so much effort to repeat.
The procedure itself took only a short while. The stylist asked me what I wanted, nodded and got to work. With most things, I’m all for a no-​frills approach if it gets the job done but this is a woman’s HAIR we’re talking about. Needless to say, I looked great once I left the salon, however after the first wash it all went to hell. I was left with a short puff-​ball that I had to beat into submission daily. Sigh.
The only reason this isn’t a one-​star review is because I honestly blame myself for the bad decision.
