Just moved to Staten Island from Brooklyn where I was spoiled with some pretty awesome bagel spots near my house but now I’m searching for my new regular spot and this place is definitely not it. Aside from rude people working behind the counter that are just defensive all the time, probably because they are so used to getting complaints, the quality of the food and service is awful. They have gotten my order wrong several times and I’ve had to go back only for them to get it wrong AGAIN or for them to get defensive while they fix their own mistakes. Go elsewhere for your bagels.

We stopped at Bagels R Us for a half a dozen mini bagels. We should have realized this was a mistake when the fellow behind the counter ignored our request for certain one’s and just gave us one’s he wanted us to have. Then, the young lady taking our payment with one hand and eating her breakfast with the other could have grunted a thank you in appreciation but didn’t even bother to look in our direction handing us the change. To top it off those six bagels were stale, a sharp knife had trouble cutting through. Lesson learned, next time, we’ll keep driving!

Brian I’m not nearly as eloquent as you but their fare is the crème de la crème. They have a certain je né sais quoi and are highly recommended. After numerous libations at the Talk of the Town I was encouraged, as well as with my partner in crime, to wait until the fresh pumpernickel bagels came out. Totally worth it. No need to toast a bagel when it is steaming hot. Some of the greatest baked goods I’ve ever had were in Staten Island and this delicatessen. However the crème de menthe and foie gras is subpar ya jackasss :)

By far some of the best bagels out there! Originally being a New Yorker, I take my bagels seriously and these are seriously some of the best bagels! The bagels are always fresh and there is plenty of variety to choose from, my personal favorite is the egg everything. Defiantly someplace worth checking out!

After feeling the old ennui, I went out looking for a way to get rid of the bête noire, when I came upon the charming establishment known as A&T Bagels and Deli, The first thing that catches your eye is the art nouveau that hangs on the walls, the actual building is in the style of art deco, Looking for a simple apéritif, I asked the aide de camp behind the counter for one and was quickly supplied one with the saluation bon appetit„ I sat on a chaise longue as the locals discussed the latest cause célèbre, such as Vinnie’s wife«taking the Bronco» and Nunzio’s mother” not cooking the ziti long enough.” The raison d’etre for this establishment is of course is its fabulous peking duck, try it with a simple crème de menthe and you won’t be disappointed
