I only ordered a small chicken soup it was good butb it was very expensive Over $ 4.00 for a small soup I think that is too much Money for a small chicken soup considering that it was just water and noodles Do not think i will go back there for soup anytime soon For this kind of money I would expect vegetables im the soup also

Food is reasonably priced, and consistently good. Delivery is pretty fast too. They earned my money!

I would say I liked their food if I could eat it. They forgot to give me utensils almost 30 mins ago and I called to have chopsticks sent here. It’s been 30 mins and I haven’t gotten my chopsticks. The food smells amazing and usually I would do the Filipino thing and use my hands but I’m at work. As I type this I am still waiting on my chopsticks with my food starting to get cold and no microwave at my job. Edit: I called to address this issue and received rude service.

Good portions, decent quality food. If you call for take out and someone doesnt speak clear englist just hang up. They will ALWAYS mess up the order, when the HS kids are there its perfect. They try to rush you off the phone.

Came here when I lived in the neighborhood and it’s always been decent. The chicken dumplings are the best. I have noticed over the past couple of years they have gotten cheap with the white rice. If you order, say chicken with broccoli, you would normally get a small white rice. Order a couple more dishes and you get a large one. Well a few weeks ago at my parents house with the family they order about $ 70 worth of food. No white rice. My father called and they accused him of trying to get a free rice. They offered to give him a large at the price of a small. Tonight I was craving their dumplings so I order some soups, small lo mein and a large mango chicken. Again, no white rice. I called and they insisted they put it in the bag. Very nasty I might add. It’s a shame that a local business has lost its vision of the customer is always right. Needless to say we will never order from here again.

Empire is still my favorite take out Americanized Chinese food restaurant. A bit higher in price but the consistency is the reward. I order off menu for what I want and am always pleased.

Their dishes are flavorful and well prepared. They have more go or than many of the other Chinese restaurants around this area.

It’s getting worse and here’s why. Sacrificing quantity over quality. When busy, the food becomes tasteless. The food preparation skips important steps and in many cases I doubt they taste things before it leaves the kitchen. Let’s talk appetizers for now. Don’t get me started on the entry’s At almost $ 7 each: The Crab Rangoon are void of seasoning in the filling and watered down instead of thick. Also it’s very oiky which means the dryer has no clue how to adjust temperature of the oil or how long to drain things before plating. Cold or warm sesame noodles, they toss a bunch of noodles into a plate and poor a very thick sauce on top and do not mix anything. They leave this for you to do and charge that much for it. When all is said and delivered, you find they missed an item in your order. When you call they say you weren’t charged for it when you were. Then they need to confirm with someone else to clear matters up. Then you wait almost an hour and a half for your missing item. Items ordered do not arrive hot, expect warm when busy as they over load the delivery guys. Possible reason: Sadly with the closure of Panda recently and the half ass other Chinese restaurants in the area, this is all we have left in 10312 that resembles Chinese take out. Until Empire gets their act together, I highly advise sending their tasteless food back to them until they get things right. Hopefully they will meet the challenges and reorient their ordering, perhaps add a second phone line and closely monitor the flavor of things as they leave the kitchen at all times. Empire, the spot light is on you for 10312.

I have been here several times over the last 10 years or so. It is hands down the best Chinese food on the island and I have been to many(fast food and restaurant style). Do takeout or delivery, dine in isn’t impossible but the décor isn’t that great. The downside is the price, I feel and know they keep raising their prices that it’s actually making me rethink going solely to this place for Chinese food. Wish we could rate on pricing and food separately as pricing would get 2 stars and food 5. What to order: steamed shrimp dumplings, roast pork and shrimp dumpling udon soup, chicken with broccoli.

There could be better and there could be worse. Ordered the mushu beef and general tso’s chicken. Both dishes were one note and bland. It’s essentially a take out restaurant so maybe i should lower my expectations. Will try other dishes next time around and see if it will confirm or modify my current rating of 3 stars.

Usual go to for take out and delivery. Great chinese food but minus a star because recently, they have become more and more stingy: smaller portions, charge extra for rice, etc. Don’t expect fine customer service either and hope someone speaks english when they take your order.

Knocking you down to two stars. We were out on the island and picked up some take-out. The sauces were very thick with way too much cornstarch. The dumplings with spicy sesame sauce made me throw up a little in my mouth. The food tasted like hood Chinese but without the hood prices. It’s unlikely that we’ll be back. Anyone know where to get good Chinese out on the Island?

I tried this place based on the Unilocaler’s reviews and you guys did not disappoint. So far I tried chicken with cashews, chicken with garlic sauce and chicken with eggplant. Very tasty. The fried rice, egg rolls and spare ribs are just right. No complaints here. To me this is one of the best chinese take-outs on S.I.

Thanks to Unilocal,I have just discovered another hidden gem. Oooh I just said that to make you mad. I’m sick of reading about«hidden gems» also. I had actually stopped eating Chinese food cause I got tired of shelling out the monies for the yucky foods. My family of 4 spent $ 75(yes we are pigs) on dinner here the other night and I’d do it again. So good! What we ate: chicken and pork dumplings, baby bok choy, spare ribs, mixed vegetables and bean curd, lo-mein, Food coma… can’t remember the rest… oh wait my favorite… I got the«dragon and phoenix» which was half general tso’s chicken and half jumbo shrimp in chili sauce. Wowee it was perfect :) In fact, I’m going to add a fifth star for them because you can find their menu, easily, online. YAY. So, in summation: NOMOREMONIESFORYUCKYCHINESEFOOD.

As my go to place for Chinese take-out, this place gets the honor of obtaining my first Unilocal post. This place while a little pricier for Chinese take-out, does dish out very delicious food. Their«Beef with Mushroom in Oyster Sauce» goes great with white rice and is practically a staple for every order I make here. They’re always fast and efficient if you choose to pick up your food. Delivery is a little slower partially because of their popularity but they are extremely consistent with quality. Order from here and I can promise you that you’ll love this place. They have a website to make ordering easier: Chinese food, especially in the form of take-out, will always be greasy and those who decide to eat it should know it and accept it. Steamed beef with broccoli is to Chinese food as it is to French food — totally out of place and lacking in all appropriate characteristics of that cuisine. So if you don’t like oil in your food, this place and nearly any other Chinese take-out spot is not for you.

Mmm… I used to work here during high school. It’s definitely the best chinese food place on Staten Island. It is a bit pricey though. People went crazy for this stuff. Basically, i’ve tried every rice dish on their menu. They are delicious! The brown sauce and garlic sauce are really good. And damn their house duck sauce is amazing! My favorite dish is either pepper steak and onion, hot and spicy chicken or szechuan chicken. Free dinner… yummm…but then again I know how much oil goes into it! Oy! I think the best thing on the menu is their steamed chicken dumpling. That stuff is addictive as well as stealing egg rolls and fried noodles for dinner. :P
