Have been ordering from here for about six months. Never had a problem. Tonight however I ordered roast pork lo mein and roast pork fried rice. Took an hour for delivery, which is not the norm. I open my food and I get vegetable rice and lo mein. I’m starving so I eat it. Tastes good just disappointed they didn’t get order correct. Also soup was cold. Had to heat it up.

Place is good! quality Chinese food, quick service, good food casual décor, you will always get a table at anytime and they now have Chinatown style noodle soups a few dollars more than some other spots I’ve been to birth in the city and here on the island(and a tad smaller in portion size) place is on the pricier side but it’s quality vs some other take out spots here.

While visiting friends and family we stopped in this place and had high hopes but this place had the filthiest bathroom and the worst food on the eastern seaboard. I would never recommend to anyone to step foot in this place. I cannot imagine how they passed their health score to remain open. DON’T EATHERE!

Shrimp fried rice or vegetable lo-mein, In a combo with sweet and sour pork, Add a side of the plumpest wontons, It shall be impossible to put down my fork. All glistening so deliciously, Whether General Tso, black bean or garlic sauce, When it comes to Chinese food, My fortune cookie says: «China Chalet is the boss!»

Went here for the 1st time the other day and ordered take out. While waiting for my order, I took a quick walk around. The restaurant is a nice setting, with a nice bar area as well. The service was pretty good, our order was prepared nicely and quickly. The staff here was very courteous. The food was pretty good, no major complaints. The prices were ok, maybe alil on the high side. I ordered 2 orders of GSO chicken, a couple egg rolls, and Ribs. The order wound up being $ 31, which was more than I was expecting. The food was good, portions could of maybe been alittle bit bigger. The ribs were ok, not worth making my order go above $ 30 though. Overall satisfied with this place.

Food is good but not amazing. They are very quick and have a good lunch special. Basically, they are really convenient bc they are very close by but I wouldn’t go out of my way to eat there.

After reading the reviews on this place I was horrified about my pick up order. But the fried rice was awesome and the soup was good too! The ribs … Not so much. Tasted like my dog smells. And I have a Bassett hound.

Food is good but not great. Love the small bar area with Kenny the bartender. Pleasant guy who mixes great drinks at very reasonable prices.

The food here I would not even feed to dogs, I doubt they’d even eat it. The wontons in wonton soup tasted very processed with artificial chemical ingredients, the soup itself was oversalted and had pieces of chicken fat floating in it. Rice and pork didn’t taste fresh, and flavors lacked any kind of passion, felt like I’m forcing myself eat something I really shouldn’t be, just because I was starving. It’s like they just slopped it together for some $. Avoid this place, and I suspect people who give this place a high rating have not tried really good chinese food before.

Good place, good food. The bar is also good, and the prices are reasonable. Chinese food from most take-outs gets me sick, which is why I go here instead(so far no problems!) Chinatown it ain’t. But as far as suburban Chinese, it’s good in a pinch.

Food here is very good. Service a little slow tonight. Had the moo shu pork it was okay. Spare ribs and fried rice was awesome. This is a once a week regular at least for us. Food is worth the trip

Mai Tai! Crushed ice with the Mai Ta is the best. Peking Duck with pancakes are delish. Great spicy dumplings also.

Take my advice do not order take out from here the portions are small and it’s expensive. The food is delicious-it’s not run of the mill by any means. It’s fresh authentic Chinese food. There is linen on the table and the waiters are in bow ties. The atmosphere is very clean and traditional Chinese looking-the restaurant is huge. This place definately appeals and is frequented by and older upper middle class crowd that demands quality and doesn’t mind paying a little extra for it. The wong tong soup was absolutely delicious and the staff was very attentive. Highly reccomended if u don’t mind spending a lil extra.

The food is good I will give them that, but the portions are miniature and for take out Chinese they are expensive. The general tso chicken is really good from here. Very sweet and the syrup sauce they put on it is really good. I would say though, if you are in the area, to try Lucky Fortune instead. The food in my opinion is better and the portions of big.

If you find yourself out on Staten Island(it happens) and hankering for some good Chinese food, you’re in luck. China Chalet offers up some of the best and more authentic Chinese grub the island has to offer. It’s located in a strip mall next to an OTB and a Subway. There used to be another restaurant called Lum Chin in the space but Chalet is much better. Everything I’ve tried is very good here and aside from the usual suspects, they offer up some dim sum dishes like steamed shrimp dumplings(har kaw) that measure up to Chinatown standards. The hot & sour soup is also worth mentioning. While it’s one of my favorites, I can’t tell you how many times I regret ordering hot & sour because the consistency is wrong(too thick) or the flavor is just lacking. But Chalet gets it right. The broth has the perfect blend of tang with a little kick. Plus, it’s chock full of ingredients. If you’re looking for solid Chinese fare, check them out. It’s my new go-to joint when I’m out there.
