My first time here for dim sum! You hardly can find dim sum in Staten Island even if you do its at least 5 $ for a plate. This place is priced just like Manhattan and Brooklyn dim sum. The staffs are really nice and attentive! The dim sum is really fresh, crispy and delicious. I would recommend people that live in the island to come here.

I decided to try Lotus Garden when I read in the newspaper that they offered an authentic dim sum menu. Although not as extensive, perhaps, as some in Manhattan or Brooklyn there are nearly 40 items on it. Pan brown turnip cake was excellent. Tripe is one of my favorite foods so I had to try the ginger, scallion and tripe. It was delicious. Not many Chinese restaurants on Staten Island serve duck these days, unfortunately. Lotus Garden, however, offers several varieties on their conventional menu. I decided to try the Imperial Duck and I’m glad that I did. It was one of the best duck dishes that I’ve ever had on Staten Island. Cold sesame noodle was also good, although, I personally prefer them a bit spicier. The portion size of each item was generous. Their telephone was answered by a very pleasant and helpful woman and placing an order was easy. Although the restaurant is rather far from my home, the delivery arrived in a reasonable amount of time and the order was correct and very well packed. I would have liked to try more of the dim sum menu, but that will have to wait for another day. I will definitely be ordering from Lotus Garden again.

When Sunny opened this decent sized restaurant relevantly near where our house is we were very excited to have a large new Chinese place opening close by(and next to Ralph’s Ices to boot…) Sunny and another women who has appeared are both very friendly indeed, and that is why I feel badly leaving a negative review, however, we are real and true«Foodies» that love quality, authentic food, from all cultures, and as we read the other positive reviews for Lotus Garden(formerly Sunny’s) we keep wondering if those people ate the same food we did! We ate here four times, thanks to a combination of: proximity, misleading ads, Sunny’s friendly/persuasive manner, and a great deal of denial(that next time would be better!) Really unusual for us, since we really did not enjoy our meals any of the four times. The first time(it was still Sunny’s) we had a large lunch that included the much plugged Dim Sum(which was then, and continues to be even now, a very small selection of fairly basic Asian appetizers that one can get higher quality at nearby China Chalet, Empire Szechuan, or Good Taste.) Also, Jumbo Shrimp with Broccoli and Peking Duck. Bill was high, but we were told to check out coupons & Specials next time. more importantly, the quality of the food was not very good at all. The duck was passable, but my wife’s shrimp were small and not good, with an off-putting texture. The chicken of the appz was also a weird, low quality texture. The waiter seemed disinterested in serving us till the end, asking about ice cream(which I figured, since such a small, freezer burned amount came out, & we spent a lot on lunch, would be «on the house» but was not.) We eat at a great deal of good places in Manhattan, Brooklyn, NJ, etc, and have had all sorts of delightful Dim Sum offerings) Next time we came, it was for dinner. Sunny greeted us, very friendly, raving about Dim Sum menu. when we tried to order, they did not have much on the Dim Sum menu, plus they didn’t have the first three attempts to order what was listed, & what we got(ribs, dumplings, pork bun, etc) were not very remarkable at all. Again, the main entrées proteins(chicken, beef) were fatty, low quality, and similar to what one receives at very cheap buffets, where quantity trumps quality! One surprise was that when bill came, we were told one entrée was free due to coupon being in place, so at least bill was better. Third time, due to finding buy one/get one for free coupon being found by U.S., I talked my wife, against her objections(again, we eat even on SI, at several Chinese places with far superior food, including where Co-owner Sunny came from prior to his restaurant,) into giving it another go, we were short on funds, it was so close, & we had coupon. When we entered, Sunny ushered us quickly to her seats, explained that there was no more buy one/get one, but that they had new«wonderful, high value specials,» which turned out to be a selection, for $ 10 each, of one of 4 entrees, two of which we picked and were given mini portions of again, fatty, low quality, low flavor items, while Dim Sum extras were pushed! We finally agreed we would not return and then name and outside look changed to Lotus Gardens, and we thought that perhaps place changed hands(with new food, cooks, owners, etc,) & just maybe it was worth a fourth visit. Well, no shock here, we were once more ushered into an empty restaurant, by friendly Sunny, while he went into a very long explanation of how they took on new partners that would«turn the place around» thus the name change, even though it was still the same menu, and yes, the same low-quality offerings. My wife kept kicking me in the shins for not getting up and politely escaping! With places like Oriental Plaza, China Chalet, Pacific East, Jacque M, Crown Plaza, etc, on SI, that all serve much better food(& many more small appetizer plate selections than Lotus’s «Dim Sum,» we truly shall not make the same mistake a fifth time!

Waited over an hour for delivery and was not pleased with the food itself. Maybe I ordered the wrong stuff but I read all the reviews about the dim sum and wanted to try it. Not happy at all. Smelled funky and everything had a weird taste to it. Definitely better places on the island.

Finally a good dimsum place in Staten Island! No more long drives to Jersey and a $ 13 toll just for mediocre dimsum! The restaurant has pretty nice décor, better than I expected. I visited on Mother’s Day, and they were semi-busy. Not packed, but definitely not empty. I did have to ask for the dimsum menu, because they only gave the regular entrée menu. The dimsum menu doesn’t have too many choices, but it’s acceptable for a place in Staten Island. I suspect most people in Staten Island won’t dig the actual dimsum you’d get in Chinatown(beef intestines, anyone?)… However, their dimsum was of decent quality and with actually normal prices! The dishes were on the smaller side, but made up for it with flavor. The Buddhist Delight(I think that’s what they called it) was delicious. It’s a crispy fried dough wrapped in rice crêpe, and although I’ve had this dish many times before in various restaurants, I can say that this was the best I’ve had. It was fresh and crispy. Which makes sense since their dimsum is freshly made to order. The cilantro rice crepes were also awesome. The service was superb. The servers were nice and friendly, even after I annoyingly asked for more water… again and again. He must have refilled my cup like five times. The owners or managers were walking around the restaurant, making sure all customers were satisfied. This one lady went around to all the women, giving them flowers for Mother’s Day. At first, my mom didn’t get one, apparently because they thought we were friends. But at the end of our meal, the owner-lady came and gave her a flower. That definitely made my mom happy, so that deserves an extra star! That said, I’m not sure how authentic their food is besides their dimsum. The menu looked like American-Chinese food, but I think they also had actual Chinese dishes. Not sure what they’re going for, but the dimsum makes it worth a repeat visit!

Came here during midweek for dim sum just to check it out. You order the dim sum from the menu. I was disappointed in the dimsum. We ordered chicken feet and spare rib and it looked like it was left over dimsum from the day before. The spare rib barely had any meat on it and was drowned in grease. The shrimp dumpling and shu mai looked like it was freshly made but it took way too long for it to come out and was just ok. The only bright spot was the beef flat noodle. I really want to support the local dimsum/Chinese restaurant spot, but I rather cross the Verrazano to Bk for better dimsum.

What a wonderful treat! New Chinese restaurant in S.I., which we didn’t even know had opened(recently). They have Dim Sim on their menu, which is a big treat for us. The«Char-Siu Bau»(steamed pork buns) and«Har Gow»(Steamed shrimp dumplings) are prepared from scratch. They are absolutely wonderful! Our lunches were delicious — the won tons(soup) tasted freshly made. Hubby’s beef chow fun was perfect! We will surely return in the near future to try out more dishes(and dim sim) or, better yet, a Chinese banquet!

Came here for dinner, they serve Americanized Chinese food normally, but will make authentic Cantonese dishes on request. The staff and owner are also very friendly. Happy to have the first authentic Cantonese cuisine restaurant on Staten Island :) will try their dim sum next time.

I was there for the second time for their dim sum menu during Saturday afternoon with my family. Let start off with the food. They have all the essential dishes and selection of a dim sum restaurant. Me and my parent liked the rice rolls especially. Also the Shumin and the beef balls were very good too. But to our surprises, their food don’t have too much msg Because my parents are allergic to MSG and they can’t never eat at the dim sum place at Brooklyn or Queens because of the use of MSG, but they were okay after eating the dim sum at Lotus Garden. Next, on the topic of service, the waiter was very attentive to our table with refill our tea and waters. Also Mr Li, the new owner, was very friendly and conversed with us to seek for feedback of our meal there. So If you ask me is it worth to come here, I said Hell Yea! The fact we don’t to drive to Brooklyn and fight the crowd and the long wait for a table, I am highly recommending the restaurant to anyone who want to try some dim sums.

Second time in this restaurant. This time, I was trying the Lunch Special. Ordered Curry Singapore Mei Fun $ 6.25 and Sweet and sour pork $ 6.75. Those lunch special came with a choice of soup and dessert. We got chicken noodles soup and hot and sour soup. Both soup are good. As expected, they are not salty which is good. Everything is freshly made. The only compliant I have is wish they could give me slight more rice. The rice definitely not enough for me. I would say the Lunch Special is a good deal as comparing dim sum. Lunch Special also serve with ice-cream with choice of chocolate, strawberry, pistachio and vanilla with a single scoops. We order one dim sum flat rice noodles wrap with fried dough for $ 3.99. As usually, the owners are very friendly and talkative. Nice chatting with them. Also there’s a membership you can sign up. You will get $ 30 certificate once you spend $ 350 at the restaurant.

It was just this past New Year’s Eve and my husband and I just came from SIUH because my father in law was admitted… it was after 10 p.m. at night… and we were starving. we went to several restaurants which were all closed… and a diner nearby. The diner was having a private party(who does that?) and I saw Lotus and said it looks open lets walk over there… Well, they were having a party too. we asked if they would do take out and they said they would… we told them our story and they were more than compassionate… they offered us a free drink(much needed) as we waited for our food… thank you Lotus… we’re ordering from you tonight!!!

Just was looking for a dim sum place in staten island and came across this place. It is not like other place but the food was delicious. It is small so everything was made to order. You will have to wait about 5−10mins for the food but it is well worth it.

A Dim Sum place on Staten Island! Hooray!!! The food selection was really small but I’ve heard they only started serving Dim Sum for a few weeks only. The food tasted nice. Not too salty. The cilantro rice roll was good. I really liked their soy sauce. There’s not a lot of parking out front but luckily, the place is relatively new so not too many people know about it yet. Would definitely take my parents here.
