Went there for breakfast a few times before, eggs Benedict were amazing, went there the other day, it was one of the worst breakfast I ever had, the eggs Benedict were on dif bread, the potato were totally dif, very inconsistent w this place, management has to tighten up and run the place the way it’s supposed to be ran, way to messy

This is a favorite brunch spot for my family whenever we are in Staten Island. You get the«family» feeling here and the brunch options are great. But what really«takes the cake» here(pun definitely intended) is the bakery section! My niece and nephew have had their birthday cakes done here and each time, they were fabulous! Sometimes the orders were even places just one day in advance and they came out perfect.

We had a chocolate fudge cupcake and two chocolate eclairs that were heavenly. My niece needed a treat and this is so close the the hospital I thought we would give it a try. Well this ranks up with the best of the best in NYC. Everything is fresh daily and so many choices I’ll be back.

Only 3 stars today. I went here for brunch with some family members. The rest of my party were seated and had a chance to look at he menu before I got there, which is fine but as soon as I sat down the waiter was there to take our order. I let everyone else order first I chose to get the Omelette Lorraine. The pasties and fruit took a while to be served and our food came quickly. I will not order the Omelette Lorraine again — the egg whites were rubbery around the edges and the center was a little undercooked, the slice of toast was dry(no butter) and stale and the omelette was under seasoned and swimming in oil. I had to ask for coffee twice it was taking so long I thought maybe hey we’re making a fresh pot– no such luck. Everyone else’s meal was great. I’ve been here many times for lunch and brunch and never had such a problem. Maybe the egg cook was having an off day so I will return to see if they can redeem themselves.

This place used to be great but now they’re so out of touch with their customers! The day I went with my 2 friends for a Sunday brunch at 11AM was the most appalling service I’ve ever received at a restaurant. The front manager here is beyond rude and believes he’s some sort of brunch gatekeeper. When my party arrived we asked for a table and he stated it was going to be at least a 30 minute wait. Mind you the restaurant was beyond empty and we saw 5 tabletops ready to go. 45 minutes later we were finally seated, I guess the party that reserved one of those tables were smart enough to go some where else. Finally seated we were presented our menus and the waiter quickly ran away. Didn’t ask whether or not we wanted drinks or even water! We sat there waiting for our waiter to come back for 20 minutes! After waiting for so long we were greeted by a completely different waiter and he took our orders for brunch. Still no water or drinks. Another 10 minutes go by and we flag down our waiter to inquire about water and drinks and he seemed like he was doing us a favor! When we finally got our basket of pastries and water my party was beyond annoyed. It took them 30 minutes to get the ball rolling for our table and they forgot our drinks. What kinda monster serves pastries with just water?! Our food finally comes out and I had a medium cooked hamburger, while my friends had the Mediterraneo Omelette and the Eggs Benedict. The food was okay and thankfully came out hot. But it definitely wasn’t anything special and was pretty generic fare. Which may be why I’m not giving it only 1 star; the food is okay. The pastries are a hit or miss here. I’ve had mousse cakes here with extremely stale cake layers, macarons that were hard as rocks, and tartes that tasted generic. These guys aren’t anything special. If you can, head 2 miles up towards the Verrazano and go to Royal Crown off of Old Town Rd. Way better food and customer service!

I have been wanting to try because the chef won on Chopped, but I found out there are multiple locations and that chef is at Forrest Avenue location. Well we were there for the brunch menu which was a set price of 21.95 per person. This includes coffee, juice and one complimentary liquid libation. You get a dish of fresh fruits and pastries to share and a choice of entrée. This place is supposed to be known for their pastries and the chef won a cannoli contest so you would think this stuff would blow you out of the water. Well think again, I was not pleased but for one that was top with yellow jelly. Truth is, I dislike the typical jelly topped pastry I thought it was but this one was yummy. Great flavor and mouth feel. All the others were quite dry! The fruit was excellent, I typically never have the cantaloupe but tried and was very pleased. For our entrée we each choose something different and split with eachother. We had quiche with sausage and broccoli rabe and the ravioli. The quiche was good but crust was too sweet, I would have like to be a savory dish. The broccoli rabe also was too mushy and possibly not broccoli rabe because there was no bitterness at all. Overall it was okay, it came with a salad and I didn’t like the dressing at all. The ravioli was good but sauce was too thick. The mushrooms had great flavor but the cream drowned it. The ravioli probably could have been cooked a minute longer it was too al dente. We choose to have the Italian spritzer which was a $ 2 extra charge. It was good, see photo I loved the vibrant orange color. I appreciate a good bitter drink. Overall, I liked but when I return I don’t want to do brunch. I liked George the waiter but the hospitality needs some smiles and more warmth and music was too loud.

I can’t say enough good things about this place. The pastries and cakes are wonderful, but what makes this place dear to my heart is this.*.*.* A few years ago, my daughter underwent a kidney transplant just weeks before her 16th Birthday. She was released from the hospital 48 hours before her birthday. Being that we couldn’t have the big Sweet 16 party for her, we had to put together a last minute party. However, I wanted to make it as special as I could for her. She had always wanted a Zebra cake. so I went on a mad search for one. First place quoted me $ 650, but needed a 3 week notice. Second place couldn’t do it. I hadn’t tried Pasticceria Bruno, because I thought they would need at least a week for any of their fabulous creations. No… not the case. I told them my dilemma and they told me to come pick-up the cake the next night. Talk about great people. Oh and they only charged me a ¼ of what the first place quoted me. A picture of this beautiful cake can be seen as my profile picture. Most recently, we needed 100 «cartoccios» for a big party we were having. The place we get them from in Brooklyn was closed the week we went to order them. So I told my husband to stop by Pasticceria Bruno and see if they can make them. The counter girl didn’t know what they were, but the owner overheard my husband and called him over to his table, told him he’d make them special for him and even had my husband join him for espresso. By the way, cartoccios are like a cannoli cream filled fried donut. And yes, they were delicious!!! Also, they have a great Sunday brunch we love. Go there… you won’t be disappointed!

This is a nice place to get something to eat on Staten Island. What caught my attention about this restaurant is the outdoor space and when I came here the other evening, the weather was gorgeous. I’ve passed by many times and kept saying I would try it eventually and I finally did! The food is very good. I had panelle for the appetizer and for the entrees, my husband and I ordered a cheeseburger and penne with vodka sauce. Everything was made just right except my burger, which was a little over cooked. I think the service here could be better. My husband waited a while for a second beer,(we ate the entire appetizer sharing one drink). We also waited a while for the check. I’m giving 4 stars for the great location, menu, atmosphere, and food. We would come back again. I’d like to try their desserts next time which look delicious.

Have you ever passed by a restaurant over a 100 times in your area and tell yourself one day I’m going to have to try that place? One day when I can afford it, one day when I’m not so pressed for time, one day when Madonna retires! Yes I have made the same type of excuses when it came to Pasticceria Bruno of Greenwich Village which is only 4 blocks away from my house in Staten Island. So when all the elements were perfect and there were no more excuses my wife and I decided to take a walk over to Pasticceria Bruno and have dinner. Pasticceria Bruno when the weather permits has an outside setting area right in front of the restaurant with beautiful umbrellas for midday lunch and lanterns for evening meals! Pasticceria Bruno is known for amazing dessert and spacial occasion cakes which is the main attraction when it comes to reviews and bloggers, so I decided before hand that I was going to review the food because I heard it was really good. I must admit when we walked in the restaurant the aroma of desserts were heavenly and the glass showcases of cookies, pastries, and cake displays were amazing! you see sweets are my weakness, but I could hear my mothers voice saying, NOSWEETSTILLAFTERSUPPER! I guess after 45 years it finally stuck with me? The atmosphere was a little more dressy then I expected, the host and waiters were dressed proper, but as I looked around the room I notice there were a few other men dressed just as casual as I was and that put me more at ease, the chairs are comfortable and tables are a nice size(That means a lot to a BIG man like me!) The waiter was quick to bring us water and take our order, and also was very attentive the rest of our dinner! We started out with a Caesar salad, which was a nice size for sharing, the romaine lettuce were crisp, the focaccia croûton were crunchy and the parmigiano cheese had a nice salty flavor to it., but what I liked the most about the salad is that they didn’t overwhelm it with Caesar dressing, there is noting I hate more than getting a mouth full of dressing and soggy lettuce! Next we had a bowl of lentil soup, it was very hearty with a nice amount of veggies like carrots, potatoes and greens with a little parmigiano cheese on top. The soup was very good and when the winter weather is here I’m going to order two bowls for myself. For the appetizer we had a delicious shrimp risotto, the shrimps were a nice size and the risotto had good a consistency and flavor, the potion was a tad small but still satisfying! I don’t suggest sharing this order but it’s a must try. For the entrée I had a great bowl of spaghetti and meatballs, the bowl that it was served in was so pretty it could have been on the front cover of any cooking magazine! but of course you can’t eat the bowl, so I decided to enjoy the delicious meal that was inside the pretty bowl! Mouth size tender meatballs over thin spaghetti’s in a light tomato sauce topped with grated cheese«mamma mia» it was sooo good! again the portion was a bit small so I do not suggest it for two. After this delicious dinner I made the mistake that no foodie should ever make, I left no room for dessert! but I’m not worried because when I return I’ll just ignore my mom’s voice and have dessert first! and when I do I will add the dessert pics to this blog so make sure to check back soon! If your in the Staten Island area you should make no excuses and have a great meal at Pasticceria Bruno of Greenwich Village and check their full menu like breakfast, lunch, dinner and dessert! it’s definitely worth it!

Bit of a delay in this review, I came her for brunch on Easter Sunday. They started us up with fresh fruit and different types bread. I had a lovely cinnamon raisin french toast; it was cooked to perfection and was a rather large serving! Their hash browns were a bit interesting, it was an exotic twist on it, but still tasty. As for service, we had a consistent and patient waiter, and the setting in the restaurant is very welcoming. My only thing is the odd parking, it’s just at an inconvenient entrance, especially if you on on the opposing side-but that’s a minor oversight! I will be back again soon to check out their bakery

I have driven by this restaurant a million times before but have never eaten here until last weekend. One of my girlfriends and I met for brunch. For $ 20 each we got a beautiful fruit and pastry platter, coffee, a bellini and an entrée. The waitstaff was extremely attentive(coming by to refill our coffee cups) and friendly. The food was DELICIOUS! I will upload pictures. I had a spinach crêpe stuffed with ham, tomato and fontina cheese. It was absolutely fabulous. My friend and I kept remarking to each other how tasty our food was. We sat there for a good two and a half hours laughing and talking and were not rushed at all. This is our new brunch spot. We got there are 11:30 and the place was empty. By the time we left at 2 pm it was pretty busy.

Decided to order my lunch from here today after looking at the menu on their website(**which was different from ) I called to verify which menu was actual and I was assured that the one on their website was the correct version updated about 3 weeks ago. Upon receiving my lunch(one of my coworkers picked up the order) all I can say is WTF. What I ordered: INSALATANICOSIA $ 15.95 Mesculin salad, string beans, potatoes, black olives, cherry tomatoes, hard-boiled egg, sliced fresh yellowfin ahi tuna with a lemon vinaigrette dressing. What I actually got: About 4 leaves of salad, a bed of raw string beans topped with canned tuna, 1 fingerling potato sliced, kalamata olives and a sliced hardboiled egg.(I will upload a picture. Its the saddest salad ive ever seen) I called and the manager said I could come pick up another salad but we are at work. I cant waste more time to leave and go get my order AGAIN. No wonder why the place was empty. All I wanted was ahi tuna :(

Came here for desserts and I got myself a cheesecake and mango mousse cake which they are known for! They are a small portion which is good so you don’t over eat! The cheesecake is extremely soft, velvety, creamy, and cheesy which I LOVE! I can never have enough of cheesecake! As for the mango mousse cake, it brought a taste of sour and sweetness to it! The cake was was mousy and soft! Overall I loved both! If both of these aren’t what your looking for, there’s a big variety of other desserts such as gelato, cannoli, macaroons etc. All Italian pastry! Must stop by if your on the island and try it for yourself!

I’ve been here with girlfriends for both lunch and dinner. Had really good, friendly service both times of day. Walk past the desserts quickly, so they don’t suck you in. Not sure if the pasts is made in house, but it’s delicious. I’m a sucker for Penne ala Vodka and it pleased me so! If you must have dessert, and I’m sure you must, then go for the Lobster Tail. I know it has a fancy Italian name, but just ask for the Lobster Tail and you will not be disappointed. Hazelnut cream filled, flaky dough perfect

Came here after a filling dinner. 3 of us went and ordered the following: Carrot cake Strawberry shortcake Chocolate pear royale Coffee The portions were filling, but unfortunately I wasn’t 100% satisfied with our selections. The shortcake was too sweet for my taste and the carrot cake had too much cream cheese. The pear royale was absolutely delicious. I may try the other selections soon but not certain as of right now. Nice atmosphere, nice ambiance and friendly staff. The man in charge yelled at staff on the floor in front of customers. Wasn’t cool.
