Amazing experience! The whole family made glass ornaments and we were throughly pleased. The staff is helpful, friendly, and very knowledgable and answered any questions we had about the glass blowing process! There is ample seating in the studio which allows guests and other family members to watch and enjoy in comfort. I definitely recommend this to anyone who enjoys the arts and making wonderful memories with their family!

Hot 2000+ Degrees HOT Glass! Very Cool Experience!!! Fantasik Demonstration! We watched the GlassBlower make two Hummingbird Feeders! Enter through the Street Corner Door Large Gallery! Great Looking Glass Pieces, I fell in Love with a Blue Green Tie Pin and someone bought it for my Father-in-law! He wears Ties more than I so I guess… Would I really stab one of my Ties? Probably NOT! They sell some non-glass items too! My Bride got a Bag and I got a Stainless Band FREE Parking! They have their own Lot, Across the Street in front of Sunspots Pavilion…

My mom made arrangements for my kids aged 10 and 8 to try the glass blowing class while we were visiting Staunton. The class is a personal demonstration and then each person gets to blow for a couple of moments to help shape an ornamental ball. It is truly a unique experience, but could probably be brought down a notch with explanation from the instructor, or perhaps have a kids explanation. The kids seemed a bit bored with the lengthy adult explanation, but were very pleased with the finished product, which was beautiful! We went on a hot day and it is VERY hot inside! I think going in the fall would be better suited. The blown glass pumpkins they had were exquisite!

A fun location to go, see, and learn. Extremely helpful staff and the live glass blowing was great! You get to see it happen right there.(Note that they have a lunch break around 11:45ish so they close the live glass blowing for about 30 mins.)

This was a very very cool experience for me and my girlfriend. The artist took the time to explain the entire process, while demonstrating it, then we had our opportunity to actually blow the glass. It was a unique experience, and we were really glad we went. It’s about $ 45 a person which is around the same cost as buying an individual piece of art there. So in this case you get to make your own, and then take it home a couple of days later.

This place blows… glass that is! What an awesome place to visit. Not only can you see some great pieces of art, but you can easily take some home with you if you can afford to do it. Afraid it will break on the ride home? That’s ok, they’ll ship it for you too! The glass blowing was too cool. Before I knew it we had spent over an hour listening and watching the guy make some pretty neat pieces and explain the process every step of the way. Definitely want to stop here whenever in beautiful Staunton, VA!

A must visit if you go to Staunton or anywhere close by. It is so cool to see the glass blowing as it’s happening and for the same price as a premade ornament you can blow your own and have it mailed to you. They walk you though the process and everything in the show room is beautiful. They also carry Alex and Ani bracelets, pandora jewelry, and lots more. Great place.

We found this little gem in college and came here once for a glass blowing festival. It was free to get in and so neat and mesmerizing to watch and learn about the process from start to finish. I love that the staff here are passionate about educating folks and are usually always open to your questions. Last year we took my mom here for Mother’s Day and I paid for her to do her own glass blown ornament. Talk about a neat experience! It was a little pricey, but worth every penny. It’s something she had never done before(but LOVES glass anything), and probably won’t have many opportunities to do again. She had fun picking her colors, and being«on stage»(although all she did was blow a little when he said to), but in the end she got a beautiful glass ball to take home and remember the day forever(well, we didn’t get it that day – it was ready the next week for pick-up or shipping). Definitely love this unique place and take people here that are in from out-of-town if we’re looking for something unique to do in the area. The biggest downfall is the store part of Sunspots is VERY expensive(but beautiful) – so look, but don’t touch!

Great little shop in Staunton, visited with my husband on a short overnight trip. Very beautiful works of art. The glass blower was very friendly and full of knowledge. I think it’s quite the little gem in this town. A must see, must visit.

Beautiful glass shop in historic Staunton. Visitors can watch glass artisans at work for free or can pay to blow their own glass ornament. Glass blowers are friendly and informative. Works of art within the shop itself are magnificent. Visitors should note that if they opt to blow their own glass ornament it has to cool overnight. You can pick up the next day or have it shipped. This place should definitely be on your to-do list when visiting Staunton.

Sunspots Studios is the annual epicenter for an intensely cool art exhibition. Each spring, they host a hot glass art festival. While the storefront and studio are open daily selling glass art of all sizes for all budgets and demonstrating glass blowing(they have bleachers in the studio for the comfort of visitors when watching demos), the hot glass festival is a must see. Instead of just a few in-house artists, they invite in a passel of artists from across the region to compete in glass making events and sell their wares. Plan on 2 solid days of glass blowing, glass pulling, glass figurine and sculpture building, and marble making from a variety of glory holes, furnaces, and torches. All of the artists are very approachable, and all describe to the crowd what they’re doing — generally with a good rasher of joking and laughing(you feel a bit like you’ve been invited to their private annual art party rather than attending a formal demonstration or impersonal exhibit).

FREEGLASSBLOWINGDEMONSTRATION and a shop full of lovely hand blown glass and glass sculptures. My son and I had very little self control and thank goodness we found the $ 5.00 bin of small blown glass objects– because we wanted to buy 1 for everyone as a gift. They also have glass sculptures that sell for $ 4,000 — so there’s something for everyone. The young man who did the glass blowing demonstration talked while he worked– explaining what he was doing — how he was opening up a bubble of air in the piece, why he was reheating the outside to keep the temperature even… He explained how and where the colors come from and talked about the purpose of different techniques. The do demos until 4pm every day. The staff was very sweet and accommodating. We had a wonderful time and intend to go back again.
