Hotel restaurant. We almost turned around because that’s usually a no-no in my book(especially when the hotel is a Holiday Inn), but we were hungry. Dining partner ordered the french dip; I ordered the bison burger. Burger was under-seasoned and presented kindly plainly — no condiments, standard lettuce/tomato/onion. Kinda boring. No comment on the french dip, but it looked pretty basic. So this is like pub food in a family kind of environment. Not gastropub food, mind you, but basic pub food. Burgers, fries, budweiser. Just kinda eh, but service was good.

As a local, this restaurant has been one of my «go tos!» The food is very good! Unfortunately, we experienced a service snafu the other evening. As a party of two, we arrived at 5:15 for dinner. The restaurant was busy and had impending reservations for later. The hostess seated us in the back room by the outside door. We sat there for at least 15 minutes without any acknowledgement by the wait staff. One waiter was servicing the only other table occupied in the room and certainly saw us seated there. If our table was not in his section, he could have notified the waiter or waitress at least. With zero acknowledgement, we walked out! End of story! And end of my patronage of this restaurant!

Had the Tomato Bisque, it was delicious! Place was busy but with a party of 7 we were still seated quickly. Food came out in decent timing.

A very pleasant surprise! I started with the cornbread appetizer … wow! A unique and tasty spin on a classic. The salad that came next was crunchy, and delicious. My entrée was the pot pie and I was blown away by the flavor combinations. Desert was the homemade coconut cream pie and it was the best I’ve ever had. This is a special place, featuring special food and wonderful service. Highly recommended.

This is a popular place and it’s located conveniently near the slopes at the holiday inn. Their food is great and on the spicy side it seemed for all of our selections. The chicken bang bang salad was very spicy but good and huge! The fried chicken chicken and Mac n cheese was so good and yet so bad for you! Haha Burgers are huge fries are yummy! Make a reservation it’s easier during busy season!

Not Per Se five stars good, but Rex’s is pretty much as good as it gets for what it is and where it is. We ate at Rex’s twice during our five-day stay at Steamboat Springs(and we didn’t stay at the Holiday Inn). Pro tip: Make reservations if you can, because it gets pretty crowded! Between the two dinners we had there, our group had: bison shepherd’s pie(YUM!!), elk burger, bison burger, rexolas salad, salmon, and chicken marsala. The shepherd’s pie was amazing. The combination of ground bison and elk sausage(who knew I’d like elk?) worked out really well, and it was even better after stirring in some of the mashed potatoes. The accompanying rexolas salad was just as good. I know — salad! The greens were so fresh and crunchy, and the garlic-lemon vinaigrette was a perfect addition. I also liked the elk burger a lot. It was interesting and different. While the bison burger was also delicious, if I didn’t know it was bison, I would have thought it was a typical(but really good) beef burger. Oh, and the few extra bucks for the shoestring fries were well worth it. The fries were so thin and crispy and well-seasoned. Service was great during both meals. I would definitely return the next time I’m in Steamboat!

Great menu and atmosphere. Really good service also. Great spot to go on the south end of town!
