We attended a birthday party celebration here at 6:30 so it was early evening and we did not have the bar crowd. The service was good considering it was only one waitress assigned to our area but I must say I was surprised that they ran out of regular silverware and had to give us plasticware. There were 23 people in our group and the rest of the restaurant was fairly empty. I can’t imagine that they don’t have enough silverware for at least 23 people if not more! They allowed us to bring in our own birthday cake and so they brought out plates for us when we asked for a knife they initially brought out a butter knife. We asked the waitress if we could have a larger night so she brought out a steak knife which was great other than the fact that it was dirty! We sent it back and asked if we could please have a clean knife and when she brought it back it was apparent that the other one really was dirty because this new one shined! That was pretty gross but I don’t know if I would blame the restaurant for that or the waitress — in any event it was a good enough experience for a birthday party as they gave us the whole back room to ourselves. Oh yeah and one note on the back room, there were. A couple of doors that lead to the outside where they had a smoking area. The smoke was seeping into the room where we were sitting and we didn’t appreciate that.

The service was good but the food was horrible! How can you destroy a burger? And it’s very depressing and very very sad in there. I feel like I wasted money and time and now I need a lot of water.

Solid bar food. Shared a southwest salad, along with a slim Jim. Both were good. Server originally brought a French dip, but apologized for error and quickly replaced it. Very good service. $ 1 draft beer special till 4 pm.

Not a great experience. Thought we’d give it a shot but we were quickly questioning our decision. Our server was pleasant but spent more time chatting with the other staff. we often felt forgotten. There were only a few guests but certainly a younger college aged environment.. Especially with their frequent outbursts of vulgarity. My glass of wine resembled that from a box but the topper was our dinner. My husbands first choice was shot down 15 minutes after ordering as they were out of ham. second choice French dip.. Mine was corned beef and Swiss which was marked as one of their specialties as an Irish pub. The French dip while layered thick was very dry and flavorless and the aus jus nothing more than the taste of salt and canned broth. The corned beef again was not only flavorless but over cooked and resembled shoe leather.. so disappointed. However they can make a mean sweet potato crinkle fry. bagged frozen from Gordons I’m sure. Needless to say, we won’t be revisiting Dooleys again. Waste of time and money. They need to stick to flinging cocktails and shots.

The only reason to go is the $ 1 beer. Went with a large group of high school friends from back in the day… I ordered the corned beef and swiss and hubby had a Reuben, but the sweet potato fries were rather boring and both sandwiches were just ok.

My hubby and I stopped in for a beer(for him) and a bite to eat after shopping. We had driven by several times and never tried it, but we’ve heard good things. We could sit wherever we wanted and chose a table near the bar. They were playing Eminem and Kid Rock, which I loved and beamed with Detroit pride! We were given an extensive menu from the waitress and she told us the specials for the day. We started with the French Onion Soup. It came out so hot and fresh, it also tasted delicious. Probably the best I’ve had! I ordered a pepperoni pizza; my pregnancy has made me a carb queen. My hubby got the fish n’ chips. I ordered a large pizza, assuming there would be leftovers. It is huge and there is plenty to share for a party of 4. The pizza could’ve used a bit more sauce and a little less cheese, but it was tasty nonetheless. The fish is a nicely fried and lightly breaded. It wasn’t very oily as we expected, which was great. The crinkle cut fries were also delicious. Our waitress was very nice, which is always a plus. I believe the service you receive at any restaurant can make or break the experience. I just felt the food took a little bit too long to come out. The bar was busy and we were accommodated well. We will most likely be back when we go shopping in the area again.

A couple of us girls went here late last Thursday. I had to stop a server and ask for drinks. Crowd here isn’t bad. Covered patio but they don’t have heaters for the smokers.

I was pleasantly surprised with my recent trip to Dooleys. In my head I had pictured overpriced Bud Lights, crap bar food and awkward conversations between my male coworkers(with no game) and the hot waitress a.k.a. typical happy hour. After receiving a nice craft brew from the stressed out waitress, we bounced between Golden Tee and darts for the rest of the evening. We ordered a couple of pizzas and nachos that we half off. The tomato topped pizza was amazing. Better than most area pizza joints. The nachos were also a step above average bar nachos. Overall, a great interactive night with my coworkers! I will be back.

Let me begin by telling you that I am NOT a «bar guy.» I don’t like going to bars. I don’t drink, and I like being around those who do even less; however, Dooley’s is one of the rare exceptions to this unspoken rule of my life. Let’s be honest here. A lot of it has to do with the(mostly) attractive women staff. I’ve always had a weak spot for hot, young women in scantily clad outfits, and in this respect Dooley’s delivers. Different themed outfits(schoolgirl, secretary, etc). A lot if guys will say that’s NOT why they go, and those men are full of shit. I won’t lie, for bar food the cuisine isn’t bad at all. The pizza is decent, and the appetizers are all fairly legit. But if you are a man of substance, you wouldn’t say, «Hey sweetheart, you deserve a nice night out. We’re going to Dooley’s.» No. You’d go somewhere much nicer and with better food. Like I said, the guys go for the cheap drinks and the women staff members. Women go there because that’s where the guys are. I have a wonderful girlfriend right now, which is why I haven’t been to Dooley’s in a while; but, when I’m single I fall in line and go to where the attractive women are… Dooley’s.

When this place first opened, I used to go there all the time. It used to have good food, and service. Not anymore. Stopped in after dinner for drinks with a group of friends– just a horrible experience. It took almost 15 min to get drinks at a table with a waitress. 2 of the drinks ordered where made incorrectly, the cherry wheat draft was not cherry wheat and when i went to the rest room and the entire area smelt like backed up sewage. When we asked to cash out, 8 individual checks where brought, and half of them where wrong. Cherry on top of this, I paid cash to avoid any other delay in leaving, and the waitress gave me my change– from her bra. Can’t make this up. Will not be going back anytime soon.

I went here for my 10-year highschool reunion. I hadn’t been here before, but I didn’t have such high hopes for it in the first place as I don’t trust a bar that shuttles people around in a bus. Well, to be honest, I just don’t have high regards for any bars in particular anyway, but this place screams«let’s get plastered and wish we were really Irish». Someone sufficiently took all the dumb from Ireland and dropped it into a bar here in the US, and it’s called Dooley’s. Lets get into the important stuff. If you’re a young, single, 20-something-year-old guy who has cash to waste, come here. You’ve got a sufficient amount of watery beer and a lot of eye candy that’ll take over your tipsy wallet. A head-splitting siren goes off every once in a while to remind you that you’re in place chock full of stupid(just the thing I want to hear when I’m drinking), and I believe it’s some sort of signal to drink some more of that water beer for ultra cheap. Order some food and be amazed by the lack of presentation, and utterly astounded by the lack of taste! Oh, and those prices! Here, take this ten dollar bill and a little bit of my dignity! No smoking is allowed, but you’ll find people standing outside the door, clinging onto their last ounce of sanity, letting out some of the dumb from their evening. It’s loud, overpriced, full of drunk morons, and has a selection of beer smaller than my shelf down in my basement(and it’s a very small shelf). To top it off, I smelled like cigarette smoke when I left, so much so that my car wreaked of smoke for a solid week. I don’t even know how this is possible. Oh wait, I do. Out of all the things this place serves, cleanliness apparently isn’t one of them. Either that or someone literally broke into my car and smoked a whole pack of cigarettes, because that’s what it smelled like. One night of Dooley’s and the only thing you’ll be waking up with is a hangover, cigarette smoke, and shame. Is that ‘really’ how you want to spend your night? Stop pretending you like this stuff and go down to The Sherwood Brewery instead. Drink a real man’s beer, eat actual good food, grow a beard.

I like eye candy as much as the next red blooded american guy, but the service is inexcusable. Entire staff needs to be re-trained/let go. There were at least 5 employees(managers, busers, bartenders, who knows) walking around the bar area while i waited 10 mins to get a beer. wasn’t even that busy. Someone else came to the bar to complain about their disappearing waitress while i was there too. Coincidence? Judging by the Unilocal reviews, nope. The eye candy is just as good at your garden variety hooters but the service at hooters is 10 times better. Would not go back.

I hate this place. The service is always poor(but good looking, even if they are dressed trashy), and the bill is ALWAYS wrong. They just had a special $ 0.50 domestic draft beers on Monday, lies… Got the bill, four crappy Miller lights cost $ 15.00. I pointed out the error to the server, she said the $ 0.50 beers are smaller«and they’re not doing that anymore» despite the table sign and huge sign on the wall. I told her to charge us double if they’re generally smaller than the ones we were served, costing us $ 1 per beer. Nope, nothing doing. Never mind the fact that we ate a crappy $ 15 pizza. Go there on their ½ off service industry night… You always have to double check the bill, and certain drinks«don’t apply»(but good luck trying to figure that one out… apparently Captain Morgan’s is «top shelf» these days, never mind that it’s a whopping $ 14 per 1⁄5th). Smells like a grease pit outside, food is mediocre at best, and drinks are over-priced. I wish a decent bar would open in that area. If you’re open to going S of Hall I would recommend Gator Jakes, if you want to stay on Hall or N of Hall I would recommend Muldons or Cass Bar/Hogs Hallow in down town Utica. Muldons has good, inexpensive food, and good drink specials. Bostons is pretty decent as well, and much better than Dooleys, just don’t get the calamari.
