Currently there seems to be a Cupcake uprising across the US so when I passed this place I thought I would try some. They were certainly not bad but at the same time I didn’t see much of a difference than buying some at the local grocery store. I guess I’m saying I’ve had much much better and expected them to be very moist and exceptional. I was also surprised they didn’t have more variety and even the variety they had it really was the same just minor adjustments. Maybe I was looking for too much WOW?!

Cupcake base = Dry. Tasteless. Frosting = Meh. Don’t bother going to this place. If you’re dying for cupcakes, just go to a grocery store and buy some there because they would taste the same.

Special ordered mini’s for a baby shower, great customer service and everyone enjoyed the cupcakes. I also took 2 vegan red velvets when I picked up my order and they were delish. I didn’t taste the mini’s as I am vegan, but all of the guests said they enjoyed them.

Amazing… if you don’t get cupcakes. We tried the vanilla, chocolate, and red velvet today and they were dry with little to no flavor. I’m pretty sure I could make a better cupcake from a box mix at home. So save $ 2.95(the cost for one small cupcake) here at the Dulles TownCenter and spend the $ on gas for a drive into DC where you will find yummy moist cupcakes at Baked & Wired, Sprinkles, Georgetown Cupcake or even Hello Cupcake.

How hard is it to mess up a vanilla cupcake with vanilla frosting? Apparently quite. I cashed in a Specialicious deal to get a few cupcakes to share with friends. It was unanimous — these were awful(and not just the vanilla ones!)! Not sure if the cupcakes we got were just old, but they are super dry and dense. They left a lot to be desired. Which is unfortunate because I really, really wanted to like them after reading good reviews. UPDATED to add: This place is under new management. While I haven’t been back to try them, I thought I’d mention it here. Sounds like they have worked some things out since the last owners left.

Their cupcakes are a real paradox. The reason for this will be apparent as this review progresses. With so many 4 and 5 star reviews, I was expecting top notch cupcakes. So… I went last week and bought a half dozen — 4 non-vegan flavors and 2 vegan ones. I asked the very nice lady who owns the place just what vegan flavor she had that day. She said«chocolate». Much as I like chocolate, I like vanilla even more. She told me she had vanilla the previous day. «Darn!» I said with a smile. She explained that whenever she makes either vanilla or red velvet ones, people complain because she didn’t make chocolate. She promised me that if I came back next Friday, she would have vanilla. As for the non-vegan flavors — First I tried«cookies n cream». It was very dry with little flavor. As I ate it, I realized that the dryness was due to overbaking it. Next, I tried the«snowy vanilla». It, too, was dry but not as dry as the«cookies n cream» plus it also had very little flavor. My husband had the«choco mocha» and the«apples and carrots». He, too, had the same thoughts — too dry and with little flavor. We had the vegan chocolate ones 2 days later. I took care to properly wrap them to prevent them from going stale. What a difference from the non-vegan ones! These vegan cupcakes were top-notch! The cake was very moist and the chocolate flavor came through clearly and strongly. In fact, if I didn’t know any better, I would have thought I was eating a non-vegan cupcake. So, therein lies the paradox. Most cupcake places do far better with their non-vegan flavors than their vegan ones. So… it is quite puzzling as to why the vegan one was so much better here. I guess I’ll never find out how good the vegan vanilla is. Today I went back since she said she would have vegan vanilla. She did but — they were in in the oven and I would have to wait 45 minutes for one!(As an aside, I was there in the late afternoon. If I was there first thing in the morning, that would have been different.) «Go shopping, then come back», she said. «Sorry», I said«I don’t have the time for that. I only came here for the vegan vanilla.» She then apologized and said she had lots of orders for cupcakes today. So… lots of people put in special orders for non-vegan ones, I guess. My question is — why? Maybe it’s because there are few cupcake places in this neck of the woods???

I heard about this place on Unilocal. When I came to Dulles Town Center to have a lunch at Vapiao, I saw this place. I got the cupcakes from here. I am not a cup cake fan in general but I love it because icing was not too sweet. It has nice flavor. The owner was there at the shop. She seems to be a very nice person too. it is too bad that I do not live nearby. So i do not know when I can come back here again. But I would recommend this place to other people.

Seriously? Is this another one of those places many find amazing because there are not many places which specialize in cupcakes around? A box of Betty Crocker could have done better than this. Located right inside of Dulles Town Center Mall, you shouldn’t go in expecting something exceptional. Considering there isn’t much out there in terms of competition, you would *think* they would be great. One of a kind. Nope… The employee working there was chatting away on their phone, but when it looked like I had a question they did take a break and answer them for me. Thankfully, like normal cupcakeries, they carry their red velvet cupcakes daily AND with cream cheese frosting! Hooray for not making that fail. I snagged one of those, as well as a «Cookies and Cream» cupcake — one of many delicious sounding cupcakes I was debating between. So why the 2 stars? It’s all the cake, man. It’s all in the cake. Cuppies’ cake: Dry and way too dense. The frosting just didn’t have the right consistency, too loose, and tasted just alright. There is definitely much better out there. I should have seen this coming when I found out it was in a mall, but I can dream a little. Can’t I?

This place has some of the best cup cakes in the DMV area. The red velvet is the best. IMHO the cupcakes here are better than the ones at G’town Cupcakes and Cake Love. The service is great too. Haven’t tried their sandwiches yet. Coffee is decent too.

yummy! i had the red velvet and it was to die for! The frosting was whipped and the cake was so soft and light. The woman behind the counter was super friendly and personable. I usually go to Sweetz upstairs by the food court but this place is just as good but much more friendly!!! :)

I made a request for special order erotic cuppies for my friend’s bachelorette party I was hosting. I know the owner and he was happy to accommodate me even though it was an «unusual» request. I was beyond pleased with my cuppies!!! I ordered two dozen cuppies. I requested that many of be red velvet because that was the bride’s favorite but he threw in many other flavors as well. The cuppies were ready for pick up on time and service was friendly. I can’t wait until my next event to order from Cuppies & Beans!

Wow! Fantastic Service!!! I was flying out of town on an important date and needed to send a gift to someone special. Living in DC, I was unsure what cupcake place would deliver to an address in Herndon, VA. I stumbled upon Cuppies & Beans here on Unilocal and after checking out their website, decided to give them a call.(cute website, by the way!) I spoke with Doug, the manager, and was EXTREMELY impressed with his sense of customer service and willingness to help accommodate my special delivery request.(My recipient would only be available certain hours of the day and Doug offered to ensure he would receive his cupcakes during those times). Additionally, I was equally impressed with the fact that I was calling in * less than 24 hours, * on a Saturday, * with special delivery requests!!! All of this for only $ 30(for a dozen, speciality assortment). You CANNOT get this kind of service or price using a national Internet chain!!! Wow! I highly recommend Cuppies & Beans for their great service, price, and product. Plus, you support local business, and thus your community. Thanks again, Doug and Cuppies & Beans! :) Home run! Holly

My mother and I stopped by Cuppies&Beans as she is from out of town and she wanted to compare CakeLove to Cuppies&Beans. We settled on a vanilla on vanilla and had a seat at the chairs and tables provided. FYI, the chairs and tables are provided by Cuppies&Beans and they will even come take your order! We got the cupcake and split it between us. The frosting was cream cheese and pretty damn good, the cake was not overly sweet but also a little dry for my liking. It wasn’t spongy like I expected but kind of crumbly. Overall a good cupcake, cheaper than CL, but not sure I would buy from there again.

$ 2.79 for one cupcake! What a rip off! The cupcakes were good, but not at that price. They weren’t any bigger than the ones that you get at Giant for $ 3 for 6. You can get much bigger cupcakes at Costco for a much better price.
