I love phở! I’m always trying to find a good phở place especially when I visit my girlfriend in stockton. Here at Mac Phở their broth is on point! I got the beef phở with tri tip and beef balls. The only thing I would like to note is they water down their hosin sauce, which is crucial to making phở pop! Get that fixed and I’ll be coming back when I’m in town. I also tried their nam sprong rolls. Those were bomb! Fresh ingredients and packs a crunch. My avacado smoothie was good too! I could tell it was made with fresh avacados.

Okay so I came here tonight with my father and my stepmother and although the food tasted well and they brought us basically what we ordered my soup did not have all the ingredients that it said it would but it was still very good we had ordered spring rolls as an appetizer and they came when we were about halfway through with our soup the table was so dirty that I asked for a rag to clean it and the guy just said well go to another table and I’ll clean it later so we picked up and moved to another table and it was even worse and it was sticky so I went to get a rag and the guy said no I’ll do it so he finally walked over and wipe the table down and I don’t know how clean that rag is that he had but we didn’t have any napkins I had to get spoons out of another table they had no sweetener or sugar on the table for tea, all in all the food was good the service and and cleanliness was not so good no soap in the bathroom I wonder how they wash their hands after they use the restroom

After running errands with my sis we decided to have some Vietnamese noodle. My sis has taken me to this place before, but she mentioned that they have changed the name several times. Anyways, the restaurant is clean and the parking lot is small. It is located in Hammer Lane which is across the street from Walmart. The phó has always been good here. I decided to try the fish meat balls but I was not a fond of the texture. I sort of miss living in Stockton because there are stores and restaurants at every corner and it’s such a small city.

I have been looking for a good Chicken Phở Soup for over two years. FOUNDIT!!! The broth has the perfect balance of tastes, the chicken breast is tender and has great flavor, the veggies are fresh and the noodles are cooked to perfection!

Two words… SPRINGROLLS! I come here about once or twice a week just for their grilled pork spring rolls with peanut sauce. I have never tried a peanut sauce that I love, except for Mac Phở’s. This place is a must try!

phở 888 was the BEST phở in stockton IMO! It is under new management now and I was skeptical once I found out BUT ‘lo and behold’ I ordered spring rolls and a mocha pearl. The mocha pearl WASSOOODAMNGOOD! Better than the mall BUT the boba was not chewy and soft, it was more on the hard side with a diff chew to it so I presume it wasn’t cooked all the way? Anyways that def will not stop me from coming back. The spring rolls were sooo good. I will have to come back to try the phở and update my review on that soon ^_^

I order the seafood phở but there was burly any meat for it I’m very disappointed. But my daughter like there steamed rice with grilled chicken. I’m m definitely going to go there again but no more seafood phở

I thought this place was pretty good before the change of ownership, but it is not worth coming to now. Probably the worst Phở I have ever had. Flavorless broth and meat with tons of fat. I couldn’t add enough stuff to it to make it good.

Just went to Mac Phở since I was advised to check out 888 and evidently its a different restaurant of the same type now. I ordered Phở as well as a Vermicelli noodle dish with Pork/Beef/Shrimp. The dishes were all right but the quality of the meat and flavor of the Phở both left quite a bit to be desired. As other reviewers have stated, there are far better options around for Vietnamese. Overall not a whole lot to say about this place as it was just mediocre and annoying overall, they had an annoying television in the background that was cutting in and out on a childrens program although there was no children and just provided incredibly annoying background noise(I do not like sitting in a restaurant with annoying noise going non-stop, do not think most people do).

There are better places to get phở in Stockton. The steak comes with HELLA fat it’s kinda gross. The phở is eh but the Thai tea is pretty good. Only reason I’d go here again would be cause its closest phở place to my house but all over its just okay.

I used to frequent Phở 888 nearly every week but at least every other week I was very sad to find out that there was a change of ownership. I was hoping that Mac Phở would keep the same tasty recipe Phở 888 used, when I went there today I was in for a rude awakening. The broth was terrible it was sweet and tasted like cinnamon no matter how much Sriracha i added I could not remove the sweetness from the broth. I think the worst part about it was that the meet was horrible and I could tell that it was very old. When phở 888 was open some of my favorite cuts of meat were the rare steak that was thrown in raw then cooked by hot broth and the tendon that have a nice chewy texture to it. Unfortunately today the rare steak in my bowl was more like very well-done steak it was curled and cupped up and looked like it had been sitting in the broth for at least an entire day. The tendon was equally horrendous it was cold and hard and I felt like I was chewing on a piece of plastic. I thought about sharing my feelings with the owner when I got up to pay for my bowl but I felt it rude to share unless she asked which is what most new owners to do because they want to make sure that they have repeat customers. Since she did not asked I simply kept it to myself but made the decision to never go again. Unfortunately I will have to find myself a new place to get phở now. Having the location of my previous favorite place for a bowl is what got me in the door. The old food is what will ensure that I will never come again

My husband wanted to come here because he had the Lemon Grass Beef Salad when he was here 3 weekends ago. He loved it! So, we were surprised that it had changed over from Phở 888. I didn’t read the new reviews until after we came in. but I also always judge a phở restaurant on the broth. And I always order rare steak & tripe. No, I don’t want to try other combinations — I know what I like. I have to agree with Mike B. that the broth was bland. Serving size of the noodles was good, but we had to ask for more garnish and there wasn’t much tripe. Because I always order the rare steak and tripe, I know what I am looking for. I didn’t find it here with their broth. It wasn’t as beefy and rich tasting as I like. My husband says it needed salt… but he says that about anything he didn’t cook. We also always order the fresh spring rolls with shrimp only. They were NOT fresh shrimp, if I have to poop in 6 hours, then this star rating will go down. My husband thought they tasted like lettuce. My husband had the phở with grilled pork. He thought his phở was 3 stars. He also felt it didn’t have much flavor to it. I didn’t taste it because he puts too much hot crap in it. When we first came in, we were offered a table that needed to be cleaned even though there were a lot of empty/clean tables. When we went to another table, the seats had bits of spilled food on them. We liked Phở 888, and I wouldn’t mind coming back to Mac Phở to see if they improve on their broth.

PROS: Nice layout inside the restaurant(not crowded sitting). Well lit. Portion of small phở is equivalent to large phở of phở lucky. Disposable chopsticks. CONS: Lackluster flavor of food. Slightly more expensive than competition($ 0.50-$ 0.75). Parking space is somewhat limited. No culantro :). First of all a good vietnamese restaurant should have a very good beef soup if not better than the competition if they want to stay in business, so I will be more focused on the beef soup(phở) on this review. Tip! Their no. 19(house special) phở comes only in large! If you want small size you have to order no. 20 then just add beef balls on the side($ 01.50) 4 cuts. The broth is lacking in flavor(bland). The meat are well portioned with the rice noodle but some of the meat specially the tendon and flank has the funky metallic taste to it. The garnish(bean sprouts and basil) is only good for one person. All in all my experience is nostalgic because the taste of the food pretty much taste like the previous restaurant’s phở(phở 888). Hell even one of the server was the server of the previous restaurant. Which makes me think that they might have hired the same people who cooked the food of the previous restaurant. The only change is the portion of the soup what lacks on quality they make up for quantity but ultimately FLAVOR of the food comes first, everything comes second. Hopefully they will work on improving the flavor of their broth because it is really lacking in taste. My other suspect is the brand of noodles they use. It seems like they are using the cheapest rice noodle they can find. Conclusion: NOTWORTH A BUY!
