The name of the restaurant, a cajun French word meaning«a little something extra,» is very fitting. This restaurant provided one of the best dining experiences my boyfriend and I had on our trip to Vermont. What a find. What a gem. We came across this place on our dinner search one afternoon and we were surprised there was a cajun restaurant in the area. Neither of us had much experience with this type of cuisine so we were intrigued to begin with, but after reading about it and going through the reviews, we were sold. We made a reservation and soon after found ourselves at Ten Acres Lodge. The lodge itself is very quaint and charming as was the restaurant. The décor was warm and inviting and had a quintessential New England feel. So cozy. Our server was excellent and friendly. We had some Abita beers(Purple Haze for me, Jockamo for him), decided to skip the appetizer since we had been eating all day and weren’t terribly hungry, I ordered the seafood étouffée and Boyfriend got the pork chops. As we were enjoying our beers our waitress brought out some delicious hush puppies(on the house!). They were so good! A light crunchy crust surrounding a slightly sweet, extremely delightful cornmeal interior. All the food was wonderful. I had never had seafood étouffée prior to that and it was slightly more fishy than I had imagined, but not in a bad way. I should have known from knowing the contents. This seafood stew warmed the soul. Boyfriend loved his pork chops so much I didn’t get a chance to try them! His sides of mashed sweet potatoes and carrots looked incredible. I definitely had food envy. Then…there was the lava cake. Oh, that lava cake that changed my life. I have been a chocolate lava cake lover for a long time and this was, no joke, THEBEST I’VEEVERHAD. I felt like I could die happy after eating this. Freshly whipped cream hugged one side of the cake while housemade vanilla bean ice cream cupped the other side. The cake itself? Moist, chocolatey goodness with a rich warm center that made it clear it was made only from the finest ingredients. I was stuffed to the gills by the time this arrived at our table but after one bite I could not stop eating it. If you’re in the area you’d be doing yourself a disservice by not coming here.

The Gumbeaux was extraordinary, and my wife’s grilled oysters also first rate, The Seafood Étouffée and hush puppies had us believing we were back in New Orleans. Could easily give Ladniappe a full five stars if it wasn’t for couple at next table with two young kids, one of whom was watching Thomas the Train on dad’s iPad at max volume that really ruined the evening for us – I understand going out to dinner with kids, in fact, my wife and I were there with our daughter, but the failure of the owner or waitress to address the situation is what was inexcusable.

Off the beaten path from central part of town in a charming little house; plenty of room and comfy furnishings if you have to wait. Very attentive service — and the owner made the rounds occasionally to make certain everyone was happy. Nice touch that they serve Louisiana brews and some classic southern cocktails. The Sazarac was especially superb! Great cajun items on the menu — without trying to be pretentious or overwhelming — they stick to the basics and do it very well. All our entrees were fantastic in quality and portion. They even sent over a dish of hush puppies on the house between our apps and entrees — nice touch!

Everything about this place is wonderful. Believe the hype. The food was some of the best cajun/creole I have ever had. We were in Stowe for a weekend of skiing in mid-March and I did my food research for the area before going. Lagniappe sounded great so I called and made a reservation. I would strongly recommend making a reservation for a weekend dinner. We saw multiple parties that unfortunately could not be seated because they were fully booked. Everything on the menu is wonderful. We sampled a lot of what they had to offer and shared among the people in our group. The service was attentive, sincere, and warm. Overall, a wonderful dining experience!

This was a really excellent little place that’s part of an inn. The Cajun menu was well done and a refreshing change for this area. They don’t have vegetarian stuff on the menu but they immediately offered my wife a choice of plant based selections. I had the jambalaya and recommend it highly

Girlfriend and I are avid snowboarders, visiting Stowe for the week. Looked up dinner spots offering something unique other than the usual steak and potatoes dinner and found this spot serves cajun/creole so we give it a shot. The high remarks are well deserved as we gluttonously devoured every morsel on our plates. We had the pineapple salad to start, with the shrimp jambalaya and fried catfish for entrees. Me and my girlfriend are not the biggest seafood fans, but wow, the shrimp was to die for. Very generous portions on the shrimp, they were huge and, most importantly, fresh. The Jambalaya itself was savory and well seasoned, with just a bit of spice. For those who are not heat tolerant — you can rest easy when dining here. Catfish was battered just right, crispy but never feeling too heavily breaded or oily. The tarter sauce that accompanies had some seasoning to it… whatever it was it hits the spot just right. I would recommend not devouring the pineapple salad as an appetizer and have it brought out alongside the rest of your meal, as the tart and refreshing salad contrasts perfectly between bites of the savory and rich entrees. The décor is cozy and very ‘mom-and-pop’. I’d be willing to bet that the house was a huge residential and then turned to a lodge/restaurant, giving the place warmth and it’s own unique charm. Waitress was friendly — she overheard my girlfriend asking what a hush puppy was as she’s never really had one, and gave us a complimentary plate! I’m sure it didn’t hurt that it was a really slow night, but hey, it was still a very kind gesture nonetheless. Please help keep this place running, as I’ll be personally offended if you fellow Unilocalers skip this hidden gem! Go here and have a feast, you won’t be disappointed.

We went there on a Thursday night in January and it was empty. I thought it was closed but we made a reservation earlier on Open Table. We were the only ones there and got immediate service which scared us since it was empty. But then again, it isn’t right on the main Mountain Road and a little bit away. This restaurant peaked our interest because it served Cajun/Ceole cuisine. We started off with the Gumbo and the grilled oysters. Both were delicious. The gumbo wasn’t too spicy but had lots of chicken and sausage in it. Then they treated us to some hush puppies. We tend to not eat fried food but these were excellent. I ended up eat two. For our main entrees we had the broiled catfish and the Shimp boil. Both were so delicous that my mouth is watering just thinking about them. We would definitely go back to this place. In fact the owner of the restaurant came to our table when we first arrived to introduce himself and tell us a little about the restaurant. This place is a gem and I look forward to returning.

Delicious, delicious, delicious. My husband and I came here for dinner last weekend. Originally, we made reservations for Friday night, but we were delayed by the snow. The man on the phone was so gracious about our cancellation and so kind in wishing us safe travels that we called the next afternoon and made reservations for the following evening. These manners and the good service that came along with it went a long way toward making our evening so lovely. The food went the rest of the way. It is just wonderful. We ordered the crab remoulade as an appetizer, the hush-puppies were on the house, and then I had catfish for dinner while my husband ate their steak au poivre. It was all just delicious. The remoulade was complemented by fabulously fresh and perfectly chosen vegetables. The hush-puppies came with pickled slices that we happily gobbled up. The catfish was up to a pretty good standard and was accompanied by an excellent mint coleslaw. The steak au poivre was an olive-lover’s dream. If we find ourselves in Stowe again, we’re definitely going back.

My wife and I are staying in Stowe for a long weekend and ate dinner here tonight. The food and drinks were fantastic. I highly recommend the Von Trapp Family Lager if you enjoy beer, especially beer on the lighter side. I ordered the shrimp jambalya and the mashed sweet potatoes and both were delicious. The sweet potatoes had a touch of sweetness and were topped with chives, giving them just the right amount of kick. The jambalya was perfectly cooked and included a good mix of sausage and shrimp. My wife wasn’t as crazy about the steak frites, but I think you can’t go wrong if you go with their specialties.

Cajun food in Vermont. I think the folks in Cajun country would be proud. Lagniappe was fantastic. The restaurant is attached to a very cozy inn so it is like eating at home. The restaurant is isolated on the road to the Trapp Family Lodge. The owner greeted us. We were treated to some lovely hush puppies on the house. I had the étouffée. It was delicious as was the gumbo. My wife had the shrimp broil which was flavorable and tasty as well. The service was fantastic albeit on a very slow evening. This was our best meal in Stowe.
