Great service and food. They were very good to my wife on her birthday. Would definitely go back.

It’s very average. I only went for breakfast and after paying 60 $ for two omelettes that were nothing special. … I think I’ll go somewhere else.

We were served some weird fizzy red pepper hummus. We sent it back and the chef said they used the wrong ingredients. The other food was pretty good but we were turned off because we felt we were going to get sick.

A first! A true BYOB! Bring your own bread! They charge $ 4 for bread with awful brown butter. The open kitchen is nice until the loud white haired head chef starts yelling and actually ruins the ambiance. Limited menu with absurdly priced items. Awful butternut squash soup for $ 15? A small salad for $ 16? How about a $ 52 for a strip steak? This is not NYC, LA, or Paris. This is Vermont! Pretentious and mediocre. Several menu items were missing despite an early seating. I am a foodie. Avoid this place.

Been back a few times since my original review a few years ago, and things have steadily improved. The food is more consistent, the service a bit more attentive, and overall quality is much higher. Its still quite expensive for what you get, but that’s to be expected with the incredible location at the top of the mountain in the new high-end resort. Still, an easy choice now that the food is better, especially if you are here for skiing and need warm meal at the end of the day.

We never even had the opportunity to eat here. Checked in to SML at about 7:30 pm on Friday evening. As the lodge has mandatory valet we figured we’d just grab dinner at solstice rather than wait for the car and head to town. So at 8:45 We headed up the stairs to a pretty busy bar area and made our way to the hostess for the dining room. I’d like to point out that the dining room was virtually empty at this time. Anyway, we asked to be seated and hostess turned us away(party of 2) as. And I quote, «I have another party of 2 coming in so I have to see if they show up before I can seat you». Remember it was an empty dining room… in any case we got the car at ended up at the Cactus Café(service was great and food was good).

This is one OVER-priced place in Stowe. We should have gone with breakfast buffet but we choose to order ala carte. the omelette was not tasty and the pancake did not look like a typical pancake. I guess that is what we get when we overpay — a fancy looking pancake with no taste whatsoever. Not going AGAIN. Also wanted to have dinner the night before and the host at the entrance turned us away saying they simply do not have ANY vegetarian(no meat, no seafood) choices on menu. Two nights we stayed — we ended up at Harrison’s and Sushi Yoshi in town and that was the best decision we took. Awesome food and lot of options for people who do not eat meat or seafood.

Part of the group I was at the hotel with had dinner here one night and it was outstanding. Our server was top notch; remembered, names orders… even people who had been the previously. Linda was outstanding. She really made the experience. Everything here was excellent: service, meal, atmosphere; it all delivered. We were here for quite some time and the time just flew by. I rally enjoyed the entire experience. If you’re in the hotel, definitely stop by. If you’re in the Stowe area, it’s definitely worth dropping in.

Great food! My husband and I are staying at the Stowe Mountain Resort and we both agree the food at stolstice is wonderful! We had three different meals in the last week and everything was great. Not one thing to complain about.

We’re here at SML for a week-decided to try the Sunday brunch. Called ahead, was told there was no wait. Literally after arriving 2 minutes later from or room, there was a 20 minute wait. Omelet to order was excellent-everything else out on the buffet was either empty(8:45AM) or store bought. Really disappointing brunch-no carving station or fish. Waiter disappeared. Obviously extremely understaffed for a Holiday weekend. Will eat off property for the remainder of our stay.

Was very underwhelming. Made reservations in advance… told them we are celebrating a big birthday(it was only 2 of us) I asked them to do something special but not corny(no clapping and singing) and that i dont mind paying for it. I was not looking for a freebie. They said no problem… there would be a dessert platter with«Happy 40th» written. Instead, there were 2 truffles with a candle. The food was ok, but not great. Drinks were also very meh. I wouldnt come here again

My wife and I came for a two night stay at Stowe Mountain Lodge this past weekend and couldn’t wait to eat at what seemed like a very fine dining restaurant right at our hotel! Before we went out to ski on Saturday morning we went over to the hostess desk to make a reservation. She intoned it was almost booked but if we were willing to take a late reservation she might be able to fit us in at 9. She made it seem like she was doing us a favor so we were thrilled(we don’t mind eating late at all). When we showed up at 8:30 the place was half empty leading us to wonder why we were given such a hard time about getting a 9 o’clock reservation. We were sat right next to the window which we quickly found was very cold. We asked the server to turn the heat vents right next to us on and she said she would look into it. We ordered red wine and an appetizer. The red wine arrived in white wine glasses which we thought was odd but didn’t complain. It was then a solid 15 minutes before a manager then came over to take our order. We watched and wondered if our server had forgotten about us as she served all the tables around us. When she finally realized we hadn’t ordered yet we saw her walk up to a manager, whisper something in his ear, and then he came over to take our order. We ordered and complained to him about the cold. He said he would contact engineering to see if anything could be done. Nothing ever was. It remained cold throughout the meal. The appetizer(gnocci) was excellent as well as the wine. The snapper I ordered was bland and tiny. The lamb my wife had was ok but not amazing. The food quality did not match the reputation, ambiance, and pricing on the menu. Save yourself some money and have dinner at hourglass instead. We had lunch there twice on our stay and each meal easily exceeded our experience at solstice in both food and service quality. I almost feel bad writing this review as we had an amazing time during the rest of our stay, great skiing, beyond expectation accommodations, and comfort at this hotel. Our experience above would not prevent us from staying at the hotel again.

Im a frequent fine diner and traveler. I went there with my boyfriend for an anniversary trip and we thought the food and service is only ok for a supposedly«fine-dining restaurant that earned a AAA four diamond distinction. I’m not going to write in details with what’s wrong with food and service but they need to provide better food and service for the prices they charge.

After eating from this menu a few times while at the Lodge(not my choice) I can say that this place is not great, particularly for a vegan. I feel that when paying this much for food, the chef should be of a caliber that can find ways to accommodate dietary restrictions without compromising flavor. I hate to sound stuffy, but think about it — the first night I ordered a pizza without cheese, and the crust and sauce were bland and had a store-bought taste and texture. The pizza was supposed to have arugula but came with just a sprinkling of leaves. Whether or not the cheese was missing, the crust, sauce and toppings should be flavorful. My other experiences included a salad that was chock full of dried cranberries and not much else, and«crispy» fries that were waffled and tasted double-fried, old and chewy. I can’t believe they use these things for poutine. That is sacrilege. It may have been due to the heightened holiday season, but service was very slow and uneducated about the menu. Comparing other non-vegan dishes with the service, I can also say that the quality does not warrant the price.

Very sub par experience. My girlfriend and I traveled from Boston to Stowe for a weekend getaway and had a reservation at Solatice. We first entered the resort and were nearly trampled by children running rampant. We arrived early, so decided to sit at the bar, which was full. As we tried to find a seat a hostess, very rudely, nudged us as she was trying to walk around us more than once. The bartender who served us was a young man who had no problem telling customers how much he was compensated at the resort, but when asked for a drink, was rude and seemed entitled. The drinks we’re OK and the beer selection is very limited. We were seated next to a window, which, in the middle of a Vermont winter was very cold. Our waitress was kind and attentive in the beginning. For appetizers we got the mussels and cheese plate which was good. I ordered a beer for the entrée, which never came. For entrees we tried the filet and venison which sat under the heats lamps for a solid 20 minutes before they were tabled. The entrees were good, nothing to write home about. During the entire time we ate our entrees, our waitress never came to check on us. My girlfriend politely went up to the manager about 10 minutes after our plates were taken to tell her how disappointed our time was. The manager was sweet and removed the beer I ordered, and never came, and also tacked on a discount. When the waitress finally came back to get our bill, she asked for our valet ticket so our car would be ready by the time we walked out. As we walked out, the valet did not recieve the notification and took nearly 10 minutes to bring the car around. Overall, very dissapointed. The manager was super sweet, otherwise every encounter with employees at the resort came off entitled and flat out rude. Not worth the time or effort. I would recommend if you’re foing to drive up the mountain to go to Top Notch.

I went to Solstice looking for a fine dining experience in Vermont. The restaurant is located in the Stowe Mountain Lodge behind Hourglass, which is up the stairs from the left side of the lounge area in the lobby. When we arrived at the restaurant, we were seated by the window near some other guests even though there was plenty of tables open in the restaurant. The restaurant calls for dressy attire, but many people were dressed casually, which provided the feeling that the restaurant wasn’t as upscale as expected from the website. The restaurant had an open kitchen, which was nice as you could see the chefs work on the food. The waiter was nice, but he took a while to come back to the table every time we needed him, even though the restaurant was far from crowded inside. He was nice enough to swap my girlfriend’s ice wine for a different wine since he suggested it and she didn’t like how sweet it tasted to her. As for the food, my girlfriend had the hand rolled ricotta gnocchi and I had the smoked and braised duck leg. My girlfriend really enjoyed her gnocchi and the duck leg was good, but nothing special. Next, my girlfriend had the sirloin of beef while I had the veal chop since they didn’t have the venison medallions available that night which was a disappointment to me. I added the pan seared duck foie gras to my meal as it is one of my favorite foods. The veal was good but nothing special and the foie gras was good and looked appetizing but wasn’t warm when I ate it. I didn’t bother to send it back since they would have only ruined it if they tried to heat it up more. My girlfriend didn’t want to send her sirloin of beef back to the kitchen, but it was cold when she received it at the table. For a side dish, we had the truffled mac and Vermont cheese which was good. After our entrees, we had the traditional crème brûlée and an upside-down pear cake. The crème brûlée was delicious while the cake was just good. Overall, Solstice didn’t provide the experience I was hoping for, but I would most likely give them a second chance next time I go to Stowe, VT so I can try the venison medallions with some foie gras.

Solstice on Spruce Mountain has been a lunch go-to for the fam and I since we’ve been coming to Stowe together. We usually hit it around 11:30 am, as anytime AFTER that, you’re gonna be waiting for QUITE a while. Solstice is a great place for lunch. Their menu is great, and the view of Mansfield from the huge windows is always nice to dine next to. Our favorites are definitely: –The wings(order them«wet,» they’re delicious; top 5 of all-time for me) –Flat bread pizzas(Classic is delicious and consistent) They also give a generous glass of bourbon when you order, which is ALWAYS a plus. Prices aren’t too bad either, for on-the-mountain lunch!
