Solid bagels. They were doughy and crispy. Coffee was solid too. Good place to go for an early morning breakfast before or after you head out for a day on the mountains.

this place is the embodyment of an average, gets-the-job-done-without-being-terrible, chain-quality breakfast joint. the coffee is a nespresso machine, there are no fresh juices, the bagel sandwich ingredients(eggs, bacon, lox, etc) are average-to-low quality(my bacon was 90% fat and flavorless). and their namesake, the bagels, while decent, are nothing special, no better than other decent new england chains and certainly not as good as what you can easily find in new york or new jersey(i’m from new england).

I just ate here an hour ago and was disappointed. My husband ordered egg with bacon and cheese on a sesame bagel. I ordered pepper and onion egg with ham and cheese on a sesame bagel. Both our sandwiches were bland and literally didn’t have flavor. It was so odd. The eggs are microwaved as well. I was looking forward to a freshly pan fried egg. But perhaps that’s too much to ask for. I got a latte in which is made all by a machine and that was the only flavorful thing. The people there are not very friendly and were complaining about one of the workers in front of us. I also noticed the girl making food, scratched her face with her gloved hand and go back to making food with the same gloves. I’m definitely never coming back here.

My wife and I stopped here on our way back home from local Stowe. We wanted to have a nice bagel for breakfast, and figured this was a place to go. I have definitely had better. Granted, I’m from Jersey and our bagels are pretty solid, The Bagel could do better in one major category: the BAGEL. I ordered the country ham, egg, and cheese on a toasted bagel. The bagel was paper thin and flavorless. It almost seemed to crumble as I bit away — never a good thing. The other aspect of the bagel was actually okay — the ham was tasty, the cheese was nice and melted, and the egg was… OKAY. Nothing special at all. Would I go somewhere else next time we’re back at Stowe next winter for a bagel? Yes, I would.

Decent bagels, OK breakfast sandwiches but the coffee is less than adequate. I would have expected a little more care and sophistication with the java given their breakfast focus but came away somewhat disappointed. On the positive side, I did not experience the indifferent service noted by some other reviewers.

Coffee here isn’t the best. Bagels are yummy. Location good for mountain activities. Unless you are a coffee nerd like me you may like it better than me. I for one need a place with consistent care in their coffee brew.

TL;DR — Surprisingly decent bagels, but poor breakfast meats. As a native North Jerseyan, I am picky about my bagels. «The Bagel» surprised me with a decent quality bagel, so this place might be worth trying to grab one with a spread. The sandwiches though? Ugh. Wife and I shared two breakfast sandwiches — sausage, cheddar and egg on an everything and«The New Jersey» — taylor pork roll(sigh), cheddar and egg on a plain. The sausage was subpar, but edible. The«taylor pork roll» was probably the worst I’ve ever tasted, with my wife commenting it may have been rancid. Very rare for me — didn’t even finish the food.

First off, I am a former New Yorker and consider myself a bagel snob. Ordered a bagel sandwich and coffee not expecting too much. Was pleasantly surprised to enjoy a deliciously chewy on the outside but soft and warm on the inside pumpernickel bagel. It was light and not heavy at all. The eggs came with Vermont cheddar cheese. Great way to start the day of biking through the beautiful Vermont countryside.

Rude service. We were looking at the menu and she kept trying to rush is to order. Then, when we asked for a recommendation for the type of bagel to have with a specific sandwich, she shoved a list of available bagels at us and said«depends on what you like.» She seemed very irritated that we were even there in the first place. Maybe she was having a terrible day or something. Don’t know. Their food might be great, but we’ll never know because we left instead of dealing with the rudeness.

Nice bagel in Stowe. Owner was very helpful making selection of interesting spreads. I went with the horseradish bacon cream cheese. Delightful on an ET bagel. Also had test bagel of hot plain with butter. A+ on test. Try this place, it’s a lock!

I know my bagels bring from NY and this is a good bagel! And for Stowe the prices are reasonable. I do find the counter staff sometimes terrific and sometimes terrible. The ladies making the food never are friendly to us. It’s worth a visit!

Wanted to get something in our bellies before a day on the slopes! The receptionist at our hotel recommended this place. Average breakfast sandwiches at a decent price(much cheaper than you’d pay on the mountain). We came on a weekday, place was not very busy. service was extremely lacking. we were very polite but made to feel as if we did not belong. the women behind the counter were rude and cold. I’d skip this place the next time I’m in town.

The bagel sandwiches are under $ 6 and they are very quick in the morning. Bagels n lox was very delicious and much better than my usual mcdonalds run before skiing. Great spot for a quick bite before skiing

Good bagels, had a reasonably priced SEC/Everything Bagel, ate the whole thing. They have cards for breakfast/lunch sandwiches where your«13th sandwich is free!», and other similar cards that I missed. Service lost a star.

Was ok… Make sure you ask for condiments if u order an egg sandwich, they wont give you ketchup unless u ask. The bagels are«ok» but I didnt feel like my everything bagel had«everything» — seemed like it was mostly sesame.

WE went to this place when we were in Stowe on 4th of july weekend. It is a typical bagel shop with many varieties of bagels and bagel sandwiches. I got egg, cheese, onion, pepper and bacon on onion bagel while wifey got a onion bagel veggie sandwich w hummus. The bagels we not bad at all and pretty nice and soft. everything looked hand made in the shop and nothing that was out of the packet or a freezer. I am not sure about the egg though. overall it is a decent place to get bagels for breakfast and lunch and you wont be disappointed.

Any time I’m in the Stowe area, I try to frequent The Bagel, as it’s good for a modestly priced, yet very satisfying sandwich. Their bagels are decidedly above-average: not the best I’ve ever had, but still quite good. What really sets the place apart, though, is the quality of the bagel sandwiches. Whereas bagel joints frequently use lower quality meats and produce, everything here tastes fresh and delicious. I typically opt for grilled chicken, Swiss cheese, bacon, lettuce, tomato, and spicy honey mustard on an everything bagel. So good that I’m getting hungry now, just thinking about it! Reasonably priced, too! Less than $ 7 if I recall correctly. Definitely worth checking out if you’re in the mood for a quick, yet satiating lunch.

Not sure Nescafé counts as espresso :-( The barista let us know this is not Starbucks and she is sure right it’s not even close it’s gas station coffee at best…

Dammit. We came back to give this another shot as the bagels were tasty and possibly the service was abyssmal because we came during the busy winter season last time. NOPE. Service was still dissmissive and rude. Quick, cheap, and if you don’t mind being treated like you just shouldn’t be there, then by all means make the trip.
