We had a really good breakfast at McCarthy’s. We’d eaten at the small café at our resort the morning before which had a smaller menu. McCarthy’s had pretty much anything you could think of. I went with an omelette and thought there was a good mix of fillings. The breakfast potatoes were pretty good as well. I really enjoyed the toast they served with it. Everybody in our group of four seemed to enjoy their order, which varied from egg combos to omelettes. All in all, spot on for breakfast in Stowe. Just remember to bring cash!

Stopped in for breakfast, excellent food! Omelette was made to order! The home fries were fresh and outstanding! Eggs Benedict was good! Yummy coffee! Getting a table and waitress was chaotic, but it was a Saturday morning during ski season! Would come back again!

Came here for brunch and just left with a very full and satisfied stomach. Ordered French toast with whipped cream, along with a huge cup of coffee and a bowl of fruit. I wish I had taken a photo of the French toast because it was a huuuge plate. The maple syrup was perfect-not too sweet. Would come back again if I’m ever in the area. Edit: this place takes cash or check only do be prepared!

McCarthy’s! Had never been to, heard of, or seen this place before and only found it through my Unilocal app during a weekend in stowe. We showed up at around 11am on a Sunday, expecting a loooooong ass wait. In fact I had a contingency plan to go elsewhere but we only waited for about 15 mins. on a sunday morning! They turn the tables over quickly. I could wax poetic about the food here which was just amazing, the OJ fresh squeezed, sweet and tangy, the coffee, omg it was just all awesome. What sets this place apart is the customer service. The owners and waitstaff are all almost intrusively friendly, but I loved every minute of it. If youre not white and /or rich you might feel a little umm, out of place on your first skiing trip to stowe. Not when you walk in McCarthy’s though. Everyone is made to feel so welcome… can’t wait to return

Unassuming local diner that serves unassuming breakfast fare. Large portions of excellent breakfast foods are served by friendly and quick servers. Add good coffee, and this is a solid choice for breakfast in Stowe. As a bonus, it is one of the few establishments in town that continue to serve breakfast(if in slightly limited fashion) after ten in the morning. Bring cash.

Food was good, service not so much. Maybe we had a rowdy looking group but I think we were all unimpressed with the judgy vibe we got from being a younger crowd. As a waitress myself I feel like you jipped us from a pleasurable experience and yourself from a pleasurable tip…

Crazy good food! We went here everyday for Breakfast except for our first day(we had expensive room service) and will make sure this is the only place for breakfast next time! The cinnamon rolls are so good you want to get there early before they sell out! They have ice coffee which is a huge plus for me… can’t complain about anything!

If you want proper, real deal corned beef hash, this is the place to go! We only discovered McCarthy’s last year and were kicking ourselves for not knowing about it for the years we have gone to Vermont. Fresh food, no canned corned beef hash, and their cinnamon buns are delicious! The only reason for a 4 star instead of a 5? The service can be awfully slow, so I don’t recommend coming here if you’re in a time crunch. Be prepared to wait for your food and sometimes your waitress.

A very nice casual style breakfast location along VT108 to fuel your morning hikes in Smuggler’s Notch. Pretty decent diner style with a large breakfast(and lunch!) menu, so everyone can have what they want. Decent prices, but cash and check only. Parking lot can be a bit of a nightmare when it’s crowded because there aren’t exactly lines painted in the lot. However, if you’re looking for a fast, cheap breakfast on your way down 108, look no further than here.

We loved it! Great coffee, excellent home fries, toast, pancakes, french toast… everyone really enjoyed each item they ordered. And the service was top notch as well. Only regret is we didn’t find this on day one of our vacation to Stowe. PS — just be aware, cash or check only though they have an ATM machine on premise.

I was visiting friends in Stowe, VT and we were recommended this place. Food was great and reasonably priced in a otherwise expensive town. Very family friendly place. You can tell it’s family run and if it isn’t they certainly give off that vibe. Lots of parking, which was a nice change from other places in town. Nice outdoor covered seating as well. I had eggs, toast, bacon, potatoes. Potatoes were especially great. Everything else was good. Very pleased. It’s cash only, but there is an ATM in the waiting area.

Came here on a Saturday morning, it was pretty busy but didn’t have to wait long to be seated. The French toast and pancakes were exceptional, bacon was ok. Food came out really fast. Definitely worth checking out, seemed like a local spot for residents. Note, it’s cash only so come prepared.

Great food! Great atmosphere. There isn’t a better place in the Stowe area for breakfast. The McCarthy’s corn beef hash is to die for as well as there fabulous french toast. Always specials and a fantastic menu that has something for everyone. The omelettes are full of your choice of fresh ingredients and served with awesome red skinned potato home fries. Waitstaff is friendly, they don’t rush you snd let you truly enjoy your dining experience! You need to check this place out!

McCarthy’s! I love this place, I always show up for breakfast so I haven’t tried some of their other fare, but everything I’ve devoured for the day’s first meal here has been spectacular. Well prepared with a homey feel. Staff is attentive, sweet and always on point. Can’t recommend this place enough.

Favorite place to bring family and friends who visit from out of town. The atmosphere is really laid back and I almost feel at home while eating breakfast there. Twice as good is my go to choice of combo plates. Service is speedy and very friendly.

We ate here at the suggestion of our Air B&B hosts in Waterbury, VT. He described it as good food, but not gourmet«foodie food.» I think that was accurate. It was stereotypical good American dinner food. Tip: Cash or check only.

BEST corned beef hash I’ve ever had! It was homemade, light, and fantastic — I ate the entire thing! Very friendly wait staff who catered to my sister’s celiac disease and were incredibly gluten-free friendly! Also catered to our service dog. Delectable sour cream coffee cake!
