Fun place. Great service at the bar. The place has a positive vibe. It has character. Ordered the nachos, which were delicious. We both got hamburgers, which were cooked just right. The sweet potato fries were to die for. Not fancy but has a good feel. Right on the bay too! Nice small little place with an interesting history.

The service was subpar at best. Don’t get mussels if you don’t wish to get sick. Would never come back here!

Had a great dinner last night with a group of 8 girls! Waited about 25 minutes for a table! Bar had a great little Craft Beer Selection! Food was very good! Enjoyed the Seafood Flatbread and the Shrimp Tacos! Very friendly Wait Staff! Highly recommend!

Great place to get a drink and sit by the bay. The food was disappointing and it was pretty crowded. I ordered a turkey burger that was dry and only had a sad little piece of lettuce on it. Drinks yes, food no!

First of all I wouldn’t say this is a «hole in the wall» by no means is it modern inside but it’s not a dump. Yes it shows its age but that’s what adds some charm to this place. It is a fun restaurant with a bar that the locals seem to go to. The locals we encountered were very friendly. The décor is weird with dried? Fish hanging and dozens of coconut heads. Wild. The view is amazing too. Ask to sit on the small deck. We had a yummy cheeseburger and a crab roll. Both were excellent. We got the buffalo fries as an appetizer. The fries came out and we thought um… They look like plain fries. No sauce. Hmm tried them and kapow the heat hits you! They use a dry rub on them and they are addictive! Pricing was decent. Overall a good place to go late at night or with the family for a meal

Good stuff! We wanted to try somewhere new this time around and went to Twisties. From the outside you can’t tell what an awesome gem it is BUT as it turns our it used to be a speakeasy! The view is pretty great and since we had a short wait for our table we had time to enjoy it and actually went back out for some after dinner drinks. To start we ordered some steamers with the white wine broth — I could have ordered 3 more bowls of it, it was so good! There was also a red wine broth and a lemongrass ginger which I don’t doubt are also very tasty. I got the ahi tuna salad and it was really good, the tuna was prepared perfectly. It initially came with a honey sriracha dressing but I’m not one for spicy food and I ordered it with the balsamic. My husband got the cuban sandwich and there wasn’t a crumb left on the plate. We weren’t in the mood for dessert but I’m sure there were some good things on that menu! We will go back here and I feel silly for not having gone earlier-I’ve been going to the shore since I was a kid! I recommend it!

Seriously, try it. We pulled up and thought, «this looks like a hole in the wall, not a kid friendly restaurant» but we decided to give it a try. We were immediately greeted by a patron who said to our whining 2 year old«you can’t be too loud for twisties» we knew our kids would be treated well. We were waiting for our table when our starving 6 year old started to melt down, we went to tell the super friendly hostess we would have to come another time, as the 6 year old was indicating she couldn’t wait for food. She said«if you can Give me 5 more minutes, I’ll have your table, I’ll bring crayons and crackers for your kiddos, I have been there!» Loved her! We stayed, and I had the mussels(delicious) my husband had the Cuban, he loved it. The kids chicken fingers, and spaghetti with meatball. We were all happy with their and the super friendly service. My husband found ipa’s on tap at their bar overlooking the bay. We can’t wait to go back and try more food! It feels like a well kept secret :)

My wife and I decided to finally try this place after vacationing in Strathmere for years. We finally learned to stay far away from the Deuville Inn. Twisties was such a wonderful discovery! We chose to eat our lunch on their small but cozy deck overlooking the bay. We were greeted by friendly waitress staff as 2 seemed to work as a team to keep patrons tended to. We started with their Nachos, figuring it was a safe order to try a new place. When they were brought out, it looked like a work of art… definately not expecting this quality coming from this sort of place. It was stacked high, loaded with chicken, bery colorful with their fresh(and what seemed liked) home-made salsa. After devourimg the plate, we decided to go ahead and try more, so we ordered shrimp tacos. Again, very well presented on the plate with color. But the taste was even greater. I suppose because we did not expect this mind of top notch food from this type of place… but it really was put of this world. The chef they have is certainly very very good and creative. We did tell the waitresses to please give him our kudos. Twisties will certainly be our go-to place each and every visit to Strathmere from now on. Trust me… it is worth the try.

First time in 5 years or so and Twisties is the same place I remember as a 7 year old. The same eclectic décor with great food and beer. We had minestrone and grilled mahi– mahi on a Kaiser Roll with fries. Everything was simply superb.

If you want to go back in time, twisties is the place! The staff is friendly, our server Jen was great. The tempura tuna rolls are a must!!! It’s probably one of the best kept secrets at the jersey shore. Actually after prohibition, twisties sign on the road said …‘find us if you can!!’ Well worth finding!

I went here with a large group for dinner. The food was just OK. I’m a vegetarian and there were very few options — basically pizza or a salad, not even a veggie burger. Others seemed to think the food was about average as well. The service was fine. It got quite loud though so it was hard to carry on a conversation, even with those sitting right next to you.

This is the first time I have ever felt compelled to write a review either good or bad. My meal last night was one of the best meals I have had in a long time. We started with the mussels in a lemongrass ginger sauce, I was reluctant to try this instead of the typical red but with a little arm twisting from my fiancée we ordered them. The mussels were cooked perfectly but the sauce was nothing short of amazing. My fiancée said she was going to come back every day to order this. We started by sucking down the broth using the empty mussel shells as a spoon, I then proceeded polishing off a loaf of bread in attempt to get every last drop. For the entrée I ordered the roasted corn crab cake. I am a crab cake lover, it is usually what I order the first time I visit a restaurant. Typically, I prefer just plain crab cakes but decided to give this one a try. I would definitely order this one again, it was delicious! It was crispy and full of lump crab and the roasted corn added a dimension I had previously not considered. The only negative was that my fiancée’s seared tuna was a bit over cooked but was still very good. Our server, Maura was very attentive and friendly. The atmosphere, as others have said«is what it is». We love it here and will surely return very soon.

I guess this is the restaurant side of Twistee’s-much better service than the bar. The food was good, the servers seemed to hustle and everyone seemed nice. The only drawback is that the one end of the restaurant dumps into the bar. Depending on the clientele your meal will either be a success or failure based on their behavior. There was a long wait time for a table, but again, I had the lousy service at the bar to pass the time. The bartenders were better than usual, but it was packed. So, go early, grab a table, eat, then mosey into the bar and claim a place near the window to get a view of the water. I never ate outside, that view and vibe is likely better except that the drunks and or lightly inebriated revelers stumble into the tables and clearly were affecting the diners enjoying their meal. It’s a tough situation. The bar is likely more profitable than the restaurant, but they need to the restaurant to use the unneeded space in the bar. I wish the restaurant luck, but for me, I only go here now about once a year when my SIC Crew decides to bribe a jitney to take us there.

Here’s the thing about twisties: it is what it is. Sounds cliché but that’s the truth. It’s a dirty little bar that used to be really hot until recently air conditioning was added. It’s not that cheap beer with ok food and not the best service. And it is this WITHNOAPOLOGIES. Take it or leave it shoobies. Go somewhere else if you expect more. The locals don’t leave bad reviews… not because it’s great… but because we know what Twisties was, is, and always will be.

I get it. You’re at the shore, but come on. $ 4 for a coors lite in reality(the middle of nowhere strathmere). Food and drinks are incredible overpriced. $ 10 for a stoli Bloody Mary is probably more than what you would be charged in center city Philadelphia. I’m all for paying for quality but it’s just not here. It’s dive bar food at best. To me that doesn’t qualify the pricing. 9.25 for a plain and thin burger without cheese and orida(sp?) frozen French fries. Granted I may be a bit tough but considering the circumstances I’m not seeing the value here. There’s better options 5 miles down the street for the same price.

Beautiful view of the bay although outdoor seating is limited. Nice bar with good atmosphere. The clam chowder is delicious — thick and rich and flavorful. Top notch crab cakes — yummy — really really good! The shrimp tacos are very fresh and light and also delicious. Drinks are priced for tourists but as long as you know in advance — be prepared =)
