Solid cheesesteak and their onion rings rock. I recently moved here from outside of philly so I am pretty fluent in cheesesteaks. Seriously ranks up there with my old philly favorites. Husband really likes their chicken cheesesteak, but I actually prefer the regular.(Super odd, because I usually don’t eat red meat, but eat a TON of chicken.) Soft and chewy roll, and their cheese sauce is better than plain wiz. My boys love their fries, crispy on the outside, soft on the inside, but I definitely prefer the rings. Sweet, hot, crispy perfection. Staff is super kind, and my order is always right. Great take out, but also nice to sit outside and watch the constant bustle. Can’t comment on any other item, because I’m addicted to cheesesteak, but I’m pretty sure it’s all good. Open kitchen so you can see freshly made, clean environment. Now if I could only find a roast pick with sharp prov, and broccoli rabe, life would be perfect in Florida, but for now the cheesesteaks hit the spot.

I have tried this several times but I’d still say average at best. Seems to be more of a family spot with typical bar food. Nothing special… average…more of a typical«american folk» eating stop.

I was excited to try this local stop with my husband so we ordered a few items and were not 100% happy. The food was okay but nothing super exciting. My husband was excited about the homemade cheese sauce which tasted like regular American cheese which was extremely disappointing. Everything was bland and my sandwich was missing the black olives I requested. Overall the food was okay but I don’t see myself ordering from here again in the future.

I loved the atmosphere here. The Whistle Stop is a small sandwich spot that serves all kinds of sandwiches and wraps, as well as different salad selections. They even offer an array of options for breakfast! The inside décor is nothing fancy but they had cute old toys on display that instantly caught my 9 month old’s attention. He also enjoyed people watching as the hustle and bustle of patrons did not slow down the entire time we were there! It’s seems to be a very popular spot for working folks on their lunch break! This is probably because The Whistle Stop offers counter service. Whether you’re dining in or taking out, all orders are placed at the counter. It is clearly a popular spot for to-go meals. I ordered a garden salad with chicken salad on top. The salad was very fresh with all the usual salad items… it even included a boiled egg. I very much enjoyed their version of chicken salad too! It was on the lighter side with minimal mayonnaise. The chicken was almost shredded, instead of in chunks. I really thought the chicken salad was just delicious! The only odd thing that I didn’t care for, was the dressing for the salad. I had ordered the balsamic vinegarette, but was given just balsamic vinegar. JUST vinegar! It’s definitely a healthier way to go, but not my cup of tea.

My family loves whistle stop! Our favorite things to get are the Philly cheesesteak, BLT, cheese fries, Turkey dinner(only available on Thursday) and all their breakfast sandwiches! When we lived closer we were there a couple times a week, mostly for breakfast.

Simple and fast breakfast meal. The menu and food was exactly what you would expect from a small breakfast diner! I would recommend for anyone in the area that is looking for good predictable breakfast food(ie. Eggs, toasts etc)

Breakfast was perfectly cooked eggs, toast, grits, service is friendly and atmosphere is fun and funky, clean and comfortable. I have had lunch there also and that too was great. Cute local place to, have a home style meal and appreciate what Port Salerno area has to offer. Great for visitors from other areas, so bring your friends and family here !

Nice place to grab breakfast. Warning though; they don’t serve pancakes or waffles!!! They do serve great scrambled eggs, great bacon, and have a good selection of sides(country potato, home style fries, or grits). It’s not a full serve place, which was perfectly fine to us.

This time around I had the Chicken Philly. It’s not as good as people make it out to be. There is just way too much cheese. The cheese overpowers everything else in the sandwich until it tastes like cheese and bread with some lumpy pieces in between. To top it off the bread was stale. I’ve had the Philly Cheese Steak sandwich before and I found the meat to be dry and lacking flavor. It’s a cute place with decent prices. Unfortunately, I would not recommend it nor would I go back.

Have had breakfast there twice, have not had lunch, or sandwiches. From the reviews I had read, I was expecting a really delicious breakfast, but found the food just so-so both times I was there. Last time I ordered a cheese omelet with biscuit and home fries. The omelet was somewhat tasteless and had an odd consistency. It was on the dry side and«spongy» is the only word I can think of to describe it. It wasn’t like a fresh egg omelet at all, more like yellow styrofoam(some kind of frozen product? I don’t know.) The home fries and biscuits were edible, but nothing special and the biscuits were dense and heavy, not the flaky homemade type I look for. The employees were friendly and polite, at least, which was a plus. Perhaps I will try a sandwich there sometime and have better luck with that, but I will not be back for breakfast.

Stopped in while in a bike ride to refuel. Lived here for over 20 years and had never tried them. Weather was perfect for sitting outside and enjoying our lunch. They serve breakfast all day! Friendly, fast, and good.

Love this place! Friendly environment with great sandwiches. The prices are reasonable for the amount of food you get. The hot pastrami sandwich and fries is a must. A bit hard to find if you don’t know the area, but its a gem of a place if you do.

Went last week on recommendation of friends who work nearby. Easy to find, and easy parking. You order at the cash register; this is not fancy dining. Can eat inside or out. I had tried Philly’s at several other places, and wondered what the big deal was. But our friends had raved about the Philly’s there, so we tried it. OMG what a WONDERFUL thing this was! I had green peppers and mushrooms added to mine(no extra charge; you could get jalapenos as well. They are famous also for their own cheese sauce, and there was plenty on the sandwich. I loved it, sort of a smooth Velveeta type flavor.(Back to childhood!) My fries were hot, golden, crisp, and not greasy. Better than MickieD’s! The food is wonderful, and it is a downhome family type place, and this is what we like. My only negative is the bathroom; so tiny, toilet low, door hit my knees. I am handicapped, and getting up and then out of there was very difficult. If it weren’t for the bathroom issue, I would have given 5 stars. We plan to go back often; live 14 minutes away. That Philly was to die for!

Haven’t been here in a long time. Food has always been great. Breakfast, lunch and all sandwiches. They have expanded since my last visit. Still have outside seating. And as always the kids love to see the trains go by.

Yum! Our favorite stop for a quick after-church snack. Love the Philly Cheesesteaks here, and their mac and cheese was quite delish as well. I haven’t sampled much else(I order the Philly every time), but they do have quite a few subs and other offerings. Menu ranges from traditional American to southern style dishes. The building itself isn’t much, located off the side of the road with a small parking lot. I’ve never eaten there, but it has an open kitchen style and some tables, but again, we always get ours to go as my Mom’s house is just around the corner.
