Found this place in the middle of a garden store. Well not really in the middle more like the entrance. The girls that work there were so friendly. I ordered half sandwich and half soup both very good. I love iced tea without sugar and they have amazing tea. So good that I got one to go and bought a box so I could make it at home. This will be my spot whenever in the area.

I don’t normally expect a cute little mini-café, when I think of yard and garden stores, but there it was. A great place to hide from the world, really, because who even knows about this place? There’s a little couch/coffee table/bookshelf nook where you can absolutely veg out like a pro hermit. The veggie panino was really dang good!!! I don’t remember what my friend ordered, but she seemed satisfied. The back patio area is perfect for a sunny lunch, surrounded by the blooming garden centre. The shoppers staring at you eating is a little off-putting, but hey, we’re the ones eating in a flower shop, eh? Did I mention they have local craft beers? Nutty!

I stopped here for lunch and had a fantastic sandwich called the Honey Club. It was fresh and well made. I paired it with a hot cup of Collectivo coffee — roasted in Milwaukee. After lunch I picked up a few new Christmas ornaments and admired all the beautiful items available at Mileager’s.

The Java Garden Café is obviously a secondary operation for Milaeger’s, not their primary business.(Milaeger’s is a well-known garden center with two locations.) There is no real coffee shop in this general vicinity, so I thought I would try the Java Garden. They feature Alterra Coffee, but I had to wait for it to be brewed. The«café» is a crowded counter in space carved out of the retail store, with a seating area adjacent to the counter. Perhaps I was there at a bad time, too early in the day, before the shopping crowds. No doubt, the Java Garden Café caters to the Milaeger’s crowd and not the guy looking for an earlier-in-the-day cup of coffee. I can only conclude that this is a grand gourmet experience if you happen to be spending time browsing at Milaeger’s, but I’m not sure I’ll go out of my way to visit here for a cup of Joe to go.
