Add me to the list of very happy customers. Let’s face it … Even though we always say we want to shop local, much of the time it’s easier to go into a chain store, where there’s typically better selection.
The Optical Place is the poster child for all that is good about local: an owner-​operator who is both knowledgeable and friendly; great prices; great service; and great selection.
If all local businesses were this good, Amazon would go broke.

Being broke and having my vision change radically quickly, I convinced myself that I had to shop hard for new specs. I visited 15 shops, some were chains, some warehouses and some small privately owned. Next time, I’ll just stay local. Sudbury has a gem of an optical shop. Prices are very fair, selection was the best and the service was truly outstanding.

Sometimes you just have a great experience with a local merchant in his own store, and it reminds you what you’ve given up by spending most of your money in faceless chains. I had exactly that experience here, with a friendly, knowledgeable owner, in a clean and well-​stocked shop, genuinely interested in helping our son choose and use his first pair of glasses.
Next time you need glasses, do yourself a favor and take your business here.
