Delicious dinner and a fun menu with pleasant outdoor seating as the sun went down. I had the salmon and wild rice, which really hit the spot after a long day. Crab cakes are tasty, too!

Visited this restaurant last night to celebrate my parents anniversary. It is a very tiny, intimate restaurant with a nice atmosphere. We waited about 10 minutes while our reserved table was being prepared. The bar was very busy and we ended up waiting the entire 10 minutes to order a drink, yet the bartender was quick to apologize and was very pleasant. Although the bar is small, one bartender wasn’t enough on a very busy Saturday night. Once seated, we were able to order pretty quickly. We did have to wait quite a while for the apps, again for the entrée, for the dessert and again for the check, however we didn’t mind because we are not ones to rush through dinner. The food was absolutely AMAZING… all of it. I cannot wait to try a few more of the selections that were offered. Unfortunately, the server did not have much of a personality, seemed almost preoccupied and stressed even though there were two other servers plus a hostess helping out. The food definitely made up for the lackluster service. All in all, I look forward to visiting again! Kudos to the chef!

This is a slightly upscale restaurant thats been thru 2 – 3 chefs before the current one. Its always had a pleasant atmosphere but the service and food has been up and down over the years. BUT the current chef and staff are great. Food is interesting and very well done. Obviously the food is prepared and cooked to order. Dishes have a very distinctive style and preparation. Nice patio in good weather. Pleasant small bar. Great for special occasion or a spur of the moment.

We have been to Tosca many times and have always(20 or so) enjoyed our meal. We will not be going back any time soon! The Chef(Keven Cousins) came out and joined some aquintences at the bar where we were sitting, let me say I thought we had gone to prison. The language they used in his restaurant would make Al Capone blush.

I Cannot recommend this restaurant to anyone. We had reservations for 6. When we arrived the restaurant was half full(small place). It took over an hour for our appetizers to arrive. We were offered no bread while we waited. After two hours our dinner had still not arrived. We talked to our server about offering us SOMETHING for our wait(dessert, a drink) she talked to the chef who offered no apologies and said he would offer us nothing for our wait. The steak came and it was over cooked(order medium and it was well done) no steak knives and it was tough as anything. I have NEVER experienced such disregard for customer experienced. I would NEVER go back.

We had a reservation here for New Year’s Eve since we had a gift card and the reviews are generally positive. It’s a pretty small restaurant in the center of Suffield and not much time has been spent on décor, layout or front of the house service. The restaurant is way too dark and it’s probably made worse by the red walls. Once the restaurant fills up the small space gets really warm and seemingly doesn’t ventilate very well. The aroma of bad perfume is profound after a short period of time. It sounds like based on the reviews that you should expect to wait a lot. We waited a few minutes upon arriving before being talked to at all and others that arrived after us had even longer delays. The staff is friendly, and appear to be frantic at all times. It’s just conjecture on my part, but part of being an executive chef is actually running a successful front of the house. Clearly, based on the menu, the prices, and the pedigree of the chef this is a restaurant trying to be in that upper echelon but really does fail primarily based on service. I don’t mind sitting down for a two hour+ meal if things are actually spread out appropriately. That you don’t serve the amuse after the appetizers have already hit, that you actually come back to offer more to drink besides refilling water glasses, and that when the various courses hit, they hit proportionately from each other. The food is on the expensive side particularly in light of the service issues, but overall it’s done pretty well. If they could fix the service issues this would be a solid restaurant, but you just can’t overlook the lack of attention on the service side.

Food was worth the wait. Bartender was cool enough to make the wait bearable. Little on the expensive side, but again delicious is always worth it.

Nice to see a West Hartford or Longmeadow quality place here. Very good food, price fits the quality.

Wife and I had an enjoyable dinner here early on a recent Saturday evening. Inside is quite small yet not as intimate as you might think – tables are close together. We started off with two excellent cocktails… wife had some sort of pumpkin martini and raved about it. I had a jack and coke… big in size and packed with jack. very good. we shared a risotto ball app and liked it. four little balls. very tasty. salads looked too fancy for our taste. Wife had a scallops entrée…four huge scallops broiled perfectly. I had the Bolognese alla Tosca… rigatoni in a veal, pork and beef sauce. we both enjoyed our meals. Service was fine. our server was friendly and very accommodating. owner appears to be the head chef here and it shows… food prep might be a little pokey but the meal is made with love. prices are a little high for the area but its a very positive dining experience.

3.5 stars. Tosca is a nice little Italian-inspired restaurant located in a strip center in Suffield. The space is relatively small and subsequently intimate with low lighting and white linen-covered tables. The space has a good vibe going for it, and it would be a great date place. Tonight we arrived right at our reservation time of 7:30 and we are immediately advised — even before being seated — that the kitchen is behind. Expect a slow evening the hostess says. Well, alrighty then. Set low expectations up front and then exceed them. Our server comes to our table about 10 minutes after we’re seated. We order drinks. About 10 minutes later our drinks arrive. We ask for bread. Another request for bread is made about 10 minutes after that. We’ve been here about 30 minutes and we’ve just received bread. I’m thinking that the problem may not be the kitchen. Service was to be lousy all night long, right to the finish. The good news is that the food at Tosca is very good, easily 4+ stars. Bolognese sauce is a good test of authenticity and a chef’s talent. Often on a menu. Rarely does the ragu measure up to its Italian lineage. At Tosca Bolgnese is the real deal. Organically farmed salmon over risotto or cous cous(depending on the menu of the day) is terrific. Perfectly done. Beautifully plated. The house loves their desserts. Home made ice cream is a delicious specialty. Tonight we order the cannoli. It’s two mini chocolate covered cannolis filled with a lusciously sweet cheese filling. Unfortunately the cappuccino machine was acting up, and the server came back after the cannoli was devoured to advise us that the coffee drink was still being brewed. Too late. Another service faux pas. Prices are not inexpensive at Tosca. Personally, I wouldn’t mind the prices if the service was equal to the food. Clearly the service at Tosca can be off — way off. For me that takes this 4+ star restaurant down to 3 stars. Another«keeping it real» review…

We came in for a drink and asked for a pomegranate tots and a margarita. We were told by a friend who recommended them that these were great drinks. The drinks were not great and for happy hour it they did not have specials And seemed very quiet, more like a wine bar. They did not have a happy hour menu and you have to offer off of their regular dinner menu. We will be back for dinner but else where for happy hour.

Dined here with a few colleagues. We arrived as the restaurant was opening at 5pm & were greeted warmly & seated immediately. All of us enjoyed our meals. Small restaurant with tables closely placed together so it has a neighborhood feel. Servers were great… attentive but not hovering. Plan to go again to try other things on menu.

Classically elegant and yet quaint restaurant. The service and food here are always great. My favorite dish is the spicy calmiari. Great place to go for a nice cozy night out.

If Einstein ever spent time in Wndsor Locks, I’m certain he’d give this place 5 stars. «Relativity» was something this man did not take for granted. Relative_Rating = food_quality * avg_quality_of_nearby_restaurants2 I however, am nowhere near as smart or sophisticated in my judgement(though I certainly hope I’m better looking, if not solely by virtue of youth, than our esteemed genius. ok, maybe not… more Asian then? You gotta give me that one…) Anyhow, point being… the food, even compared to restaurants outside of Windsor Locks, was good. I’d go for the fried oysters and rib-eye(hold the sauce). Maybe a tad high on the prices,(Entrees were $ 30-$ 40), but the food was decent. It was the long wait for our food that this gets knocked down to a 3 star. We literally waited for 30 min for our entrees to come, and then 30 minutes after we finished them(not after they came), the entrees came. That’s a lot of waiting. I understand they probably have a small kitchen and staff given the location, but seriously… we can’t go back cause we typically have work at night and we can’t spend 3 hours at a meal. As I said though, if you want a nice restaurant sit-down meal in Windsor Locks your options are limited. Other decent options we’ve found so far are Bears BBQ, a nice Asian place called Mietzu or something, and Tunxis(fried brussel sprouts FTW). If you can bare the wait, higher prices(this is twice the price of the other options) and want«higher-end» American food/have a business dinner, then it’s a good place to go. Food Details: — The friend oysters were great as an app, 5 juicy pieces that are nice to share. Best app of the lot. — Calamari was a bit different than usual, with some honey on top to give it a hint of sweetness(some people at our table weren’t a fan) — Salad app was forgettable(I literally forgot what was in it… but had some soft croûton things which were kinda gross) — Beet and goat cheese was… well, beat and goat cheese. Layered nicely so it looked like a mini cake. But beet and goat cheese — Mushrooms wrapped in proscutto and cheese — meh — Ribeye was cooked nicely to a medium rare, but I’m not a fan of lathering sauce on top of a good cut of meat; and this came looking like it just ran through Tough Mudder or Spartan Race. — Braised beef — a little overcooked, a could have used more seasoning, but overall good.(seriously, when is anything braised in red wine NOT good?” — *cough*Mac*cough*-and cheese: When you substitute the Mac for Penne, you should probably call it Penne and cheese. It would probably even look more interesting on the menu. Not sure why people seem to like it from other reviews. «Cheese» was more llike an alfredo sauce, but the crunchy breading gave the side a nice constrast. — Duck fat fries were crispsy, if not too crispy/overcooked. Luckily I like em on the overcooked side rather than the softer side. Didn’t have time for dessert, due to the slow service.

We brought a group of six to this Resteraunt for dinner. The service was great, and the food was incredible. The prices are high, and the portions are not large, but the quality is apparent in every course. I highly recommend the salted caramel home made ice cream, wow.

We were trying to go somewhere else and stumbled upon this little gem. Even though it was a busy Friday night we were seated almost immediately– a cozy little table by the bar. Our server Ellen was great– it’s always nice to have someone who loves what they do. We went with her recommendations– the risotto balls were average but Cajun pasta(without meat ofcourse) was delicious. I had the ruby red canary drink while the hubby had a Chardonnay. We were too full to try the deserts but we’re already planning on going back for that!

We came here for a nice dinner with my in laws and will definitely be back. Stumbled on the place mostly because it was halfway between Danbury and Boston and there wasn’t much to choose from on the Unilocal reviews. We were a bit surprised by the prices given the location, but figured why not since most of the other options were mediocre chain restaurants. Unfortunately we weren’t too hungry because there were amazing cheese plates passing us on either side right after we ordered. My husband and I both got the salmon, my Mother in law the tuna, and father in law got a steak that was on special. Overall the food was great. The salmon was cooked beautifully for my husband and me and my father in law’s steak was cooked perfect medium rare as well. The salmon came with a delicious risotto that wasn’t treated as second class as you often find with a risotto ride. The only food issue we had was my MILs tuna that was ordered medium rare(admittedly ordering tuna anything but rare is just asking for issues), but it came out much closer to well done. The only other issue was the restaurant was pretty cold. All in all, this was a great meal and we will definitely head back next time we are meeting someone in this area.

Tosca is an excellent choice for any occasion. Whether it be a business dinner or a quiet date night, I couldn’t recommend Tosca more. I had an opportunity to try Tosca as the result of a business dinner. Since the tab was on my boss, I had the opportunity to try a few appetizers, main dish and desert. We started with calamari, which was fried and somehow caramelized. I had the opportunity as well to try the Wellfleet Oysters and they were amazing! Lastly, we had a bite of antipasto, which was to die for. My meal was the organic salmon and risotto. It was just the right size and cooked perfectly. For desert I tried the lava cake and ice cream. This is not the Chili’s version, this was amazing. Tosca makes their own ice cream and I’ve never tasted anything so wonderful in my life. Let’s not forget the service. Our server was wonderful! She made excellent recommendations and did the little things like refill the water glasses without us even knowing. I can’t wait for a date night at Tosca with my wife. It will make me husband of the year!

Loved this restaurant. It’s small with an open floor plan so I can see how it can get loud, but with the lights low and candles flickering on the Saturday night I went, everyone was speaking in reasonable tones. The ambiance was perfect. I also loved the food. The bread was delicious. I got a scallops special. Scallops over brussel sprouts, sweet potatoes, and bacon, with a vinegar reduction. I tasted a bit of my husband’s short ribs too and it was delicious and tender too. Service was on point, even though she seemed to be new(forgetful and slow describing the specials). Very attentive and sweet. Wish I lived closer.
