There’s not many places to get a snicker doodle cookie from in Suffolk. But let me just tell you they are sooo good here. Ive gotten a couple of them a few different times. And I can tell they let them sit out where I’ll get there in the morning and they’ll be chewy but when I go later in the day their brittle… But still good! I also run into a few of my clients there its a ute and warm place to chill, relax, and have fun. It’s like being back at my grandmothers house with all the odds and ends there(not to mention the amazing baked goods) P. s. grandma if you’re reading this they have nothing on your chocolate chip cookies

Cute café in the heart of charming downtown Suffolk. I stopped in to have a little lunch while working out of town. The females working are very welcoming and the baked goods on display looked more than appetizing. I am a New Years ‘get fit resolutioner’ but if there’s ever a cheat day, this is the place to binge. The cookies might be the tastiest cookies I’ve ever had. After trying one, I had to get one of each… Yes, that good! Nice lunch menu, I had a veggie wrap and can’t complain. I had to take one star because I stopped in a second time and waited for service but it appeared that there were not enough people working, no one was at the counter or in the dining area… I was on a lunch rush so had to go elsewhere. Oh well, I’ll try again next time!

Over a year ago, I welcomed a new café where I could enjoy a pastry and coffee after court across Main Street in downtown Suffolk. To my delight, the vivacious owner, Susan Glover, introduced me to a variety of enticing confections. In a hurry to return to Norfolk, I targeted some apple turnovers, lemon squares, and coffee cake to take out. My coffee in the car required a companion of a turnover. I was struck instantly by the delicate and flaky phyllo, luscious slices of apple in a just sweet enough filling, and the delectable vanilla lacing literally and figuratively topping off the turnover. Susan tells the story now that her assistant told her that afternoon that there was a man on the phone who wanted to talk to her about some turnovers he had bought. Fearing the worst, she was relieved when I told her it was the best fruit turnover i had ever tasted. My wife has expected me since that day to return with«goodies from Susan’s.» Our latest rave is about her cinnamon crumb coffee cake, which we agree is unique in our experiences. The pale-yellow cake is light and delicately sweet, the crumbs are just crunchy enough and the dusting of sugar is ineffable. Susan has also perfected scones, raspberry being my favorite. Upon returning from Suffolk recently, I saw a neighbor, who is an accomplished baker, outside our condominium, and recommended Susan’s. She exclaimed that she is in Suffolk frequently and always brings home a variety of Susan’s wonderful creations. Susan’s Bakery and Café is the icing on the cake of a visit to downtown Suffolk.

Upon walking in, the feel of this little hometown bakery is immediately welcoming. The employees were genuinely kind, smiling and pleasant. there was one lady, I’m assuming is the owner, that thought my daughter was adorable. She had great energy about her, jumping up and down, sharing in my daughter’s enthusiasm over a case full of cookies. We ordered 6 cupcakes(my birthday), a cookie, a chicken salad sandwich on wheat, an avocado BLT on white, and two half sandwiches for the children(came with chips and juice or milk). All for $ 43. The sandwiches were all really good, very basic but very tasty. The café seemed very clean. The chicken salad was really great, not too much mayo but not too dry. it was served with kettle chips and a small bite of watermelon and a few grapes. My husband said his sandwich was really fresh and he liked the balsamic addition to the traditional BLT. His was also served with kettle chips, watermelon, and grapes. The cupcakes were all pretty good too except the basic vanilla with sprinkles. The cake was, unfortunately, a little dry and the icing was way too sweet. Overall, a really good experience though and we will definitely be going back and recommending Susan’s.

I stopped in here with an offer for free lunch from doing a Maya Couture dress fitting nextdoor, and let me tell you… insanely delicious evvvvverything. I had a to die for peanut butter brownie and a great roast beef sandwich. The staff was super friendly and talkative, which I love. This is now going to be a favorite stop of mine in Suffolk!

I’ve been meaning to get over here for a while but between their limited hours and not spotting them on Main St, it just didn’t happen. So glad I made the time to stop in today! The bakery is warm and inviting with vibrant colors and a pleasant atmosphere. Lots of little tables to sit and enjoy a cup of coffee. I noticed chai on the menu as that’s one of my favorites. I didn’t indulge in coffee today, but next time I have a day off, I want to stop in and have a cuppa. The service was friendly and helpful as I decided what to get. I went with chocolate toffee scones, maple raisin scones, and pumpkin crumb cake. I can say the scones were fantastic!(#OMG! Factor) Wonderful flavor and perfect texture. Haven’t tried the crumb cake yet but I’m sure it will be equally delicious! The staff person who waited on me even tossed in some lollipops for my boys. :)
