My husband and I are regulars here. Their sushi is extremely fresh, reasonably priced and what I would describe as purist(i.e. not swimming in super sweet sauces) with elements of Thai and local fusion. By far the best sushi on this side of town! We buy their Phở by the gallon when anyone is sick in the house. You just walk away from this place feeling good.

I went there with my finace for dinner for the first time tonight. It wasn’t what we expected. The décor of the restaurant was nice but not what quiet what we expected when we got seated. The restaurant claims itself as a Vietnamese and Japanese restaurant but non of the servers were Asian. We both had phở and an order of spring roll, they weren’t good and the portions were small. The food weren’t authentic, we’ve definitely had better phở from other places.

We stopped in to try a roll and to see what the place was like. Honestly it was some of the best sushi I’ve had in the area and would have ordered more if we had extra time. Will definitely go back for more

I’m just gonna say– I don’t understand the décor of this place. Also as a side note why Vietnam and Japan???

Great food, however, small restaurant and extremely pricey. But if you like good sushi and don’t mind, definitively worth it!

I’m not a fan of sushi but tried this place out. It’s small but a cute place. It’s located in a shopping center so parking is good. The staff was very polite and attentive. They were dressed in Kimono robes which I thought were cute. My food came quickly. I had the almond shrimp appetizer and it was good. I also tried the beef wrapped asparagus which was great! I’d definitely visit this restaurant again.

Yo Yo Sushi is a nice quite restaurant in the College Drive area of Chesapeake. The ambiance was great and the Phở was really good. The meat was slim but the broth made up for that, so good. Wife and Daughters had Shrimp Tempura roles and fried rice. The portions where GREAT for them and it was satisfying. They didn’t care too much for the rice because it was over cooked and«mushy.» The Tempura Rolls looked awesome to me(they would not share with me) and they said they were awesome! The staff was friendly, restaurant was nice, quiet, elegant and cozy! Great for a date night but this place is not for small kids(leave them at home). Ill give it another try.

This is my favorite restaurant in the area. I am definitely a sushi snob. I rarely like it, but when I like it, I generally love it. I consistently love this restaurant. Everything about it is wonderful. The appetizers are delicious, the Phở is very good, and the sushi is clean & fresh tasting. My family & I go here at least once a month. All the waitresses are attentive and do their best to take care of your needs. Even better than the wonderful food is the restaurants cleanliness. It is always clean and that means the world to me. The only complaint I can think of is, it is often cold in the restaurant. It is very small & with the door opening and shutting with take out, it can be drafty. Thank you Yo Yo for being consistently delicious all the time.

Great Phở! I was staying at the Hilton just down the street and was looking for a warm meal on a cold-rainy evening. Yo Yo Sushi was perfect. The décor is cool-Asian, super clean and(while smallish inside) was very cozy. I ordered the Phở with meatballs and a side of 2 egg rolls. Egg rolls were super hot, nice and crispy, with a great veggie and meat filling. The Phở was up there with some of the best I’ve had! Broth was clear and meaty, good amount of noodles, and the sides(bean sprouts, basil, jalapeño slices & a lime wedge) were nice and fresh. Sriracha and hoisin sauce on the side to add my own kick(I like my Phở spicy!). Ask for Jessica, she was so attentive and her service was spot-on!

Yo Yo is a prime example of good things coming in small packages. It’s a super tiny sushi and phở spot but it’s so very chic inside. A+ décor. I love it. Furthermore, I ordered what I thought would be a small plate, because appetizers typically are. Well the peppered tuna appetizer is like 14 slices of excellence, plus a bed of mixed greens in the middle. Nice surprise.

I’m a bit of a sushi snob and was thinking, «How good can this be? It’s in central suburban sprawl» it was outstanding! I ordered a predictable(for me) California Roll and one of the specialty rolls(something, something topped with teeny French fries. Timing, presentation, freshness & taste were spot on. Be sure to request«genuine wasabi,» rather than the regular wasabi you may be used to. Genuine wasabi is a treat! Great place!

Really nice place to grab some mid ranged priced sushi. The staff members all wear summer kimonos and the walls are decorated with custom drawings/renderings(Asian influenced of course). Their salads have the best dressings! If I remember correctly they have a wasabi(very spicy), ginger, and sesame dressings. The sushi itself is pretty good. I like that the texture of the fish isn’t mushy. I will say that the way they make things spicy isn’t the most appealing to me– seems like they use a gochujang sauce which really hides the flavor of the fish so I don’t recommend that. Overall really neat place to have some sushi.

Dear Yoyo Sushi & Phở, I just wanted to thank you for the opportunity you gave my wife and I to have the best sushi of our lives. We had a killer craving and, after some online research, decided to try your establishment. I mean, 4.7 rating? Kimonos? Cool décor? Super excited! We get in and seated immediately. Looking through the menu, we saw some wonderful rolls. Waited 15 minutes, people who arrived after us got their drink orders in. Us? Nothing! Staff just looked at us and kept walking pass to help everyone else. I was fumed, but man, did it pay off! We’re not from the area and my wife remembered that there was a place across the street called Ninja, by the Harris Teeter. This place was awesome! Literally, the best sushi I have ever had! If you go, try the temptation roll, no words to describe it. Quick, respectful, ATTENTIVE, service. If you like ridiculous-looking(non-authentic) clothing and cartoon art, Yoyo is the place for you! Good luck with being able to order. If great food and atmosphere is more to your liking, go to Ninja Steakhouse & Sushi.

Great and fresh sushi and awesome phở! If you haven’t tried it, you should! The amount of preparation, care, detail and even the training of his staff is awesome to see. I love coming here. It’s my favorite place aside from Okinawa(;. We have only been here about 30 times but hey, it’s worth every dime!

I’m usually pretty skeptical of mixing my Asian cuisines(in this case Sushi & Phở) but I have to say the owner at YoYo Sushi and Phở make very good PHO. The broth is excellence; very natural meat; better than Phở 79 in Norfolk. I’ve never Finish the Broth in the Phở before, even I came from San Jose(popular Vietnamese foods). I love the soup here, I finish the broth before the noodles. Highly recommended, much better than Phở 79.

I’ve only been here to get their phở. I have yet to eat their sushi. I will say the decorum is cool. They do have their waitresses dress up which is a little creepy to me but I can roll with it. Their phở is OK. I usually get it to go. Im not a fan of pre made phở. I wasn’t too put my own ingredients in my broth. All of them not just some. Hey, I’m just picky that way.

Was urged to try Phở and was unpleasantly surprised. the broth had a very funky taste, but this may just be the dish in general that I am not personally fond of. The restaurant is very nicely decorated and it is peaceful and quiet. Waitresses wear cute kimonos that make the experience fun! My friend got the sushi and said it was average.

This was my second time there and well my belly was super happy. The way to go! Either have the waitress suggest items for you or go with the chef speciality rolls. The best one for smoked salmon was the piranha roll. Perfect absolutely perfect. I was lucky enough to have Juleena the waitress again! Such a treat!

Shhh… I have a secret, but I will only tell you. I don’t like sushi. I know – my Unilocal friends are appalled. I like some seafood –even love crab and lobster– but I wouldn’t say I’m a huge fan. Even more, I hate nori – the fishy smell turns my stomach. I tried sushi once a long time ago but I decided to free my mind from that first sushi experience. So, I was determined to try sushi again; I am an adventure foodie, right? My boys had tried YoYo Sushi and Phở(YSP) with their dad before, and they really liked the Phở. I turned my nose up at a place with a name like that but I was willing to try it. Walking inside, the restaurant was quite beautiful and elegant but small – it is a strip mall after all. I liked the animé artwork adorning on the walls. The waitresses’ «kimonos» were pretty but not my thing; I’m not into uniforms at restaurants. The main issue for me was the cold ambiance. The hostess and the waitress were not warm or friendly; let’s just say the word was«snobby.» Time to order: I picked the Maui Wowi Roll(blackened tuna, pineapple, and scallions), which I shared along with Yaki Soba, which is «thin Japanese noodles sautéed with assorted vegetables.» My boys went with Phở Ga(chicken) and Phở Bo Vien(beef meatballs). I did try their Phở but it just tasted like chicken soup. I’ve tried Phở from a Vietnamese place and YSP’s Phở broth is not authentic to me.(If you want authentic Phở, I recommend you go to some other place like Vietnam 81 Restaurant in Portsmouth.) Now the sushi! I was happy to see the rice was around the outside of the nori – that way I didn’t taste it. I used my chopsticks, dipped in soy sauce, and tentatively tasted a bite. I loved it! The combination of blackened tuna with sweet pineapple was delicious. Not only did I eat three pieces of sushi, but I wanted to have the rest as well. I also ate the Yaki Soba and it was quite good. I’m giving 3 stars to YSP.(I would give 3 ½ but Unilocal doesn’t give ½ stars. Oh well.) I did enjoy the Maui Wowi Roll but I’m not a sushi pro – y’all might think differently. However, I am excited to eat more sushi and I’m thankful for YSP helping me be triumphant. Overall, I thought the place was okay but I wouldn’t go back mainly for the service and ambiance. Think about it – if a place serves sushi and phở, maybe you should try two different restaurants.

I am not a sushi aficionado as of yet… I just got introduced to it by a coworker; but, I had some really awesome stuff here. I am however a Phở aficionado and although I am not a huge fan of the broth because they put waaaay too much pepper and salt in it, the meatballs are the best I have had — bite size, flavorful, and very yummy. If you go there with someone you get one tray with the fixings and you have to share which I am not a fan of, but, you can always ask for more stuff. As far as the sushi, he had me try a lot — my favorite was the tsunami roll! I also like the spicy scallop, Boston, and California rolls. I also tried a couple of rainbow roll bites; didn’t like those so much. But did like the Dragon roll volcano roll. They also have a wasabi dressing they put on the salad that I fell in love with and got a big container of to go. The service is quite slow as most of the reviews point out, and they do look a little cheap running around in fake kimonos over their clothes. The three star is because I didn’t like the broth for the phở and the service is quite slow otherwise I would give a four star rating.
