What an extraordinary experience it is to dine at the Sugar Hill Inn. 5 stars is not nearly enough in my opinion. A week before my birthday my husband called to make reservations and check that there would be a vegetarian entrée available for me. When we arrived for dinner they had obviously taken a note and even served me a delicious vegetarian amuse-bouche(basil sorbet). The inn owner took the time to help us choose a bottle of wine that we really enjoyed from the expansive list. The dining room is intimate, comfortable, and very romantic. Everything about the meal was perfect — presented beautifully and delicious in every way. The truffle brownie dessert was absolutely to die for. The only problem I have is not being able to eat here every night. Thank you so much for the best birthday dinner ever!

First off I never write reviews. Even when I really dislike a place, just not my thing. But this place is special across the board. I have been in F&B for over 12 years. And this is hands down my favorite dining experience. Not only is it amazing, it is amazing every time! Innkeepers are incredibly kind and passionate. Service is world class. And every dish is made with love and respect for food. You will not find a better place to dine in NH. If you are in the area, and do not come here to experience their hospitality and food, you are doing yourself a disservice!

The location in the White Mountains is lovely with beautiful views. The inn is restored but retains the look and feel of an iconic country inn, all exceptionally well maintained yet inviting. The rooms(we have sampled two) are well appointed: a luxurious and comfortable bed, clean and modern bathroom with exquisite bath products. They even provided a portable heater against coldness. The dining room provides the highest level and finest cuisine we have ever enjoyed. A truly remarkable and not-to-be-missed dining experience under the extraordinary hands of chef Val. And the breakfasts are equally superlative. The owners and the wait staff are friendly, ready to fulfill even small requests. The whole experience was impeccable, enjoyable, and richly rewarding.

Went for a romantic getaway with my Husband. True New England Bed & Breakfast style. The place is intimate, charming and an exceptionally needed break from city life. Beautiful pool, savory eats, and wait for it… cappuccino machines in your room! We stayed in the Moses Aldrich room and found it roomy enough for two.

My husband & I loved Sugar Hill Inn and the town of Sugar Hill. We stayed in one of the cottages and felt like we were in our own private hide-a-way. We had dinner in the bar and Jeremy made us feel like family. The breakfast was amazing. Not often do we get a 3 course breakfast. The muffins were full of berries and the frittata was cooked perfectly. We enjoyed Katy, the dog, she helped make the visit feel like we were with family. Any future trips to New Hampshire will include a stay here.

Loved this inn, clean, updated and very comfortable. I wasn’t able to get a reservation for dinner however after having breakfast I will be sure to book dinner upon my return. We were there for the Lupine festival, the gardens are beautiful!

Chef Val at the Sugar Hill Inn is an artist. A man who loves and lives food, the chemistry of deliciousness, the alchemy of flavor. Wow! Lots to love and not enough space: highlights were the salmon cake amuse bouche, the warm maple cured pork belly and scallop, the truffle Mac and cheese, foie gras and cod. Oh my! Can’t wait to return.

My wife and I just visited this lovely small town inn for a getaway weekend and though we both admit to being among the pickiest people on the planet, we could only find great things to say about both our stay and our sumptuous dinner. Our room was in the main house and was cozy and warm while the snow was falling outside. Very romantic and comfortable. The soaking tub was a hit as was the king-sized bed covered in quilts and coverlets. Our own private gas stove and espresso maker were also very nice features. This was our first time staying at the inn, but our second time there for dinner. Both dinners were simply top-notch. The dining room is perfectly decorated and lit for a relaxing dinner and drinks. The service is excellent, the wine list expansive, the pace of each course being delivered to the table was right on the money, and the food was creative without being precious, perfectly prepared, and much of it locally sourced. We have dined in fine restaurants all over the world and the Sugar Hill Inn is among the best we have ever visited.

I selected the soup trio, the frisée salad and the duck dish. With a nice bottle of Mt Redon Château Neuf du Pape and death by chocolate for desert, Our dining experience was divine and the wine selection exquisite!

The strong attention to detail at the Sugar Hill Inn did not go unnoticed. We celebrated our 2 year anniversary with a great one night stay. The delicious treats upon arrival for our celebration started us off right. The cocktails were well prepared and smooth. The dinner was exquisite. I very much enjoyed the risotto appetizer and my boyfriend had the pork belly. The duck was fantastic. All dishes were well thought out with a balanced flavor profile. The wine list was solid. The linens were high quality and a very comfortable bed. We enjoyed the country breakfast, the strong coffee and a nice morning soak together in the large tub. We will be back for sure!

We just returned home after a weekend of hiking in the White Mountains. Our stay at Sugar Hill was fabulous. Upon our arrival, Katie the dog greeted us! Karen and Steve we very friendly and accommodating. The Dream Cottage was beautiful– comfortable and tastefully decorated. It was the perfect escape from city living. Gas fireplace, soaking tub, sauna, espresso maker and the small touches such as Lake Champlain chocolates and champagne waiting for us(they had known we were celebrating a birthday). Food at the inn was top notch. Would recommend pancakes and the cheddar egg crêpe for breakfast. The homemade muffins were a very nice addition. Dinner was quality– the filet was tender and cooked perfectly and the caesar salad was creatively presented. The eggnog frozen custard itself was worth a return trip. We thoroughly enjoyed our stay and hope to make a repeat visit next fall.

My husband and I went to Sugar Hill Inn for dinner while vacationing for a weekend in Franconia, NH. It’s a lovely little Bed and breakfast and I wish we had opted to stay there for our visit. The restaurant has a price fix four course dinner for $ 63 a person. Everything from the bread and butter to our after dinner espresso was divine. I had a trio of soups to start, my husband had this delicious light yet crisp risotto ball. Second course was a delicious Caesar salad perfectly dressed, chopped and placed in a parmigan fluted mold. The presentation of each course was just beautiful. For dinner, I had filet mignon and my husband had the black truffle mac & cheese. Both were divine. Extensive wine list with great selections to choose from. My only complaint is that we were both too full to try any of the desserts. Server was excellent, food was outstanding. The chef really enjoys what he does and takes great pride in his creations. When I say the best restaurant in the area, it certainly is, but there are slim pickings up there. However, living in a suburb of NYC, we have no shortage of quality restaurants here and hands down our meal at Sugar Hill Inn was better than many fine meals I’ve had in NYC. It’s worth the trip and if you are up there, you don’t want to miss this place. Pricey, yes, so it’s for a special treat, but worth it.

We stayed at the Sugar Hill Inn this February and had an amazing stay. We only stayed one night but would stay longer next time. Katie, the friendliest dog, greeted us when when we checked in. The owners and staff were friendly and accessible. The room was exactly as described and pictured on the website. The gas fireplace was a nice touch, as was the soaking tub! Such a quaint little town and inn – we really enjoyed our visit! We also ate at the restaurant at the inn which was incredibly delicious. It was a little pricey, but there were 4 courses and everything was great. And it was nice not to have to leave the inn for dinner. We will definitely stay here again and would recommend that you do too!

A wonderful, relaxing getaway for New Year’s Eve with my husband! We stayed in the Richardson room – large, great jacuzzi tub, very nice linens. Breakfast was lovely each morning and service and staff were all wonderful. We opted in to the special NYE four course meal, which I would say was nice considering we didn’t have to go anywhere, but not the caliber food I expected for the price tag. We’ve been spoiled by fine dining and the meal lacked a «wow factor» and we ended up with a few lukewarm plates. Would go back for the lodging and eat elsewhere next time.

We stayed at the Sugar Hill Inn for our anniversary this past September and can say enough about our stay. The food was excellent from the pre fix dinner to the complementary country breakfast. One of the best meals we have had in a long time. The dinner menu was very unique and interesting. One aspect of the inn that we liked was the separate cottages scattered across the property. Each one was unique inside and they almost all had a covered porch, with chairs for you to lounge on. The room we stayed in had a gas fireplace and a nice couch. There are many little touches that may go unnoticed, but my wife loved such as the chocolates left on the night stand, the espresso machine and the water bottles in the fridge. The husband and wife who own the Inn really make you feel welcome and we able to answer any questions we had regarding activities in the area to local places to go for lunch. I would highly recommend the Sugar Hill Inn to anyone in the area looking for good food and/or a relaxing place to stay.

I stayed at the Sugar Hill Inn this past weekend and was so impressed with how thoughtful and accomodating the inn is. Our stay was a great experience. The room was clean, the décor was great and all of the staff we encountered was warm and welcoming. I loved that we could borrow board games from the library as well. Great idea! Breakfast was also delicious. This inn goes above and beyond.

If you’re someone who takes most references from tv shows(as I do), then you’ll get what I mean when I say that Sugar Hill Inn is like a meeting of HGTV, Top Chef, and Newhart. I discovered Sugar Hill Inn from a targeted Facebook ad while I was surfing the web in Vermont this summer. That was kind of interesting, since Facebook ads usually annoy me(they all feature either a pastel-frosted cupcake, or some ad that says all women my age like these shoes – thanks, but the way to my heart is not to blast my age at me every moment). I ended up on the website, and then got caught up reading the innkeeper’s blog which referred to his love of HGTV and his time in culinary school. When my mother then became addicted to the blog, she decided to book a family trip there.(Since Sugar Hill bills itself as a romantic inn, my sister was worried that people would think we were a couple. Considering that we were traveling with our parents, whom we both resemble, I didn’t think that was a big concern). Anyhow. The food at Sugar Hill is worth the trip. My sister called the prix-fixe dinner the best meal of her life. Steve, the innkeeper, while a graduate of culinary school, doesn’t actually cook the dinner; instead, it’s prepared by an self trained chef who could cook circles around many high-profile big city chefs. From amuse-bouche to dessert, it was amazing. The quail terrine with candied pistachios was exquisite. The breakfasts(cooked by Steve) are also very good and the afternoon tea is a nice touch. One day it was cookies and the next a cheese plate which included a chocolate mascarpone-type confection. The best rooms are those that Steve, an HGTV fan, has renovated – the other rooms are still left over from previous owners. The area is lovely – Franconia State Park(where the Old Man in the Mountain used to be) is quite majestic.
