Whoever is back there preparing the edemame is a true master of his craft. I don’t know how they do it but the edemame is incredible. I would say World Class even! Whoever that chef who is responsible for these tiny green perfection is the Soybean King!!!

I left a pretty lengthy review as a check in on accident but this place is good enough to write another. Lol best sushi is Sugar Land. Trey, one of the managers stopped by and the customer service he offered was ridiculous. He was very opening and warming from the beginning of our meal. He walked us through the drink menu and helped pick out the perfect drunk for our taste buds this evening. Marquis is the man!!! We told him what we liked and he got it to our table and was probably some of the best sushi we’ve had. When you visit Azuma, ask for Marquis and let him choose your menu for you. Hands down the best in sugar land! Japa-who??? Come to Azuma on the lake, the patio looked nice but the weather was a bit chilly.

Brilliant food and service… We love the Irishmen roll and kids really enjoyed the lobster Mac and cheese as well as fried rice. Happy hour menu is great and super reasonable.

We live nearby and it’s nice to have a good date place that isn’t a two-hour wait and loud and expensive. The sushi is really good, and they have a decent wine selection, but the other«American» stuff on the menu is not great. Also, their hostesses are several(they only need one) young women who could work on their customer service. I called ahead on a Friday night(because my husband had forgot to make reservations) and they almost laughed at me when I asked to make a reservation for two people 1 hour in advance, saying«we don’t make last minute reservations.» Srsly? When we arrived 1 hour later, they barely had a wait. But all-in-all the service was excellent, and it’s a good place for date night or to bring your family.

Great sushi and atmosphere. They have an awesome view of the lake and the Hyatt hotel. Definitely get the Crazy Irishman Roll if you’re not the biggest sushi fan; it’s more amenable to western tastes. My only complaint is with the attitude of the hostesses – really quite rude and unprofessional. Other than that, pretty nice spot!

Pretty good food. The brussel sprouts are really good. The snapper and rice had a good flavor profile, the fish could have used more flavor. The Hawaiian chicken is great but the chicken was a tad bit overcooked.

I came here for a lunch meeting. It’s a nice restaurant with lots of parking and many tables. They offer many different lunch specials so it makes it very affordable. I got the chicken katsu bento box. It was plenty of food for a lunch meeting. I was not overly stuffed.

Fast and friendly service. Ordered rolls this visit and all were very tasty. Prices seemed to be about average for a sushi restaurant. Atmosphere was inviting a little on the dark side to give a more lounge effect. I would go back again to try the negiri. Overall I was satisfied with this restaurant.

Should really have known better than to order a steak at a sushi restaurant. I admit the layout and atmosphere of the restaurant is really nice and classy, and it brings about a nice mood for a romantic dinner. I like how they actually have a second floor dining area, which I have yet to visit. There is a full bar by the entrance, and the sushi bar is located in an open space right in the middle of the restaurant for everyone to view. Waiters were attentive and professional. Girlfriend and I decided to go a little fancy despite already knowing the how pricey the menu was. We started off with the Sweet and Spicy Karaage, and the sauce made the crispy and juicy chicken bites quite enjoyable. But that was the only decent part of the dinner. The Surf n Turf roll she wanted had run out of ingredients, and we were forced to pick another roll. The $ 12 roll she chose came out with 8 extremely small pieces, small enough to surprise and shock us. And then the so called Australian«Wagyu» Steak with grilled shrimp that I ordered came out and turned our dinner into a disaster. The steak was so dry and chewy I could not gulp down enough water to wash it down. And it was cooked medium rare. It’s safe to say that it was NOT Wagyu meat at all. Even a regular ribeye steak from a chain restaurant would taste better than this rubbery catastrophe. We really couldn’t believe they would so casually throw«Wagyu» into the description to bait customers into ordering their low grade steaks. Our dinner was pretty much ruined for the night.

We had the most amazing dinner! Really amazing! Started with Naruto roll and Sumo roll and then I got the Azuma Beef and the husband got Ramen. The sushi was fresh and so creative, cucumber used as wrap instead of rice paper. The azuma beef comes out in a little bowl that sits on top of a little fire pit. Maybe I’m not very wordly, but I’ve never seen this before! On top of awesome food, service was excellent and location is really beautiful. Wonderful dinner. Can’t wait to go back.

I use to believe that this place wasn’t good, but still took a chance to see what the place is like first hand, and i was glad that I did! It was an excellent experience and i will definitely be back in the future. Service was excellent and attentive, and food was great as well. Really enjoyed the Naruto roll and the Irishman roll. Their Chicken Yakitori was delicious too! I wish they had more rolls that weren’t centered around shrimp tempura though. Really would like to see more rolls with raw fish in them. Definitely go with a couple of people, since you get to try out a lot more food then. Prices are a little high, but well worth it. It was a great experience overall! Delicious food, excellent service from our server. What more can you ask for!?!

My wife and I drove by, and on a whim, decided to stop in and try Azuma. Needless to say, we were extremely happy with our decision. The ambiance and décor of the restaurant was very nice. The staff was very friendly and helpful in the ordering process. We ordered the Fearless roll since we were in the mood for something spicy. We also ordered the Snapper Fried Rice. We thought both the dishes were excellent. I do not remember the name of the drinks we had, but they were very tasty as well. We can not wait to try more of the menu in the near future!

The only time I come here is for Happy Hour, which ends at 7pm on weekdays, and it’s ALLDAYSUNDAY. They offer nigiri, rolls, appetizers, and a couple of cocktail drinks. The Happy Hour prices are pretty good for the amount of food you get, but personally, I would rather go somewhere else for better tasting sushi(sorry!). Spicy Tuna Roll: 4/5, equivalent to HEB spicy tuna roll. Comes with 4 pieces for Happy Hour. Spicy Salmon Roll: 5/5, I thought this was the best thing I ate for Happy Hour. Also 4 pieces, they give a good amount of spicy salmon. Pork Gyoza: 4/5, love their gyoza sauce! It’s a little bit on the sour side — typically for a sauce accompanied with gyoza. I would have liked it a little bit less fried. Irishman: 2/5, maybe it was just the roll I got. It comes with 5 pieces, and it’s fried. It was really nothing special — and the pieces weren’t even that big. It just tastes like a big fried roll of rice. Calamari: 4/5, good deal for the Happy Hour price! It comes the same gyoza sauce and spicy mayo? If it was spicy mayo. It didn’t taste like anything, but a creamy texture.

Great Happy Hour specials and thanks to Christine for being so professional. Hanging out for a Friday happy hour while enjoying good drinks and even better sushi is such a great way to wrap up a long week. Our bartender, Christine’s excellent customer service, reminded me that serving good food is not enough. When one has an attentive and kind bartender who is excellent at her job then that combined with amazing food creates a great dining experience. We’ve all been there when we are faced with rude staff members and how easy it is to choose to walk out and dine somewhere else. Azuma On The Lake provides a great dining experience with an awesome kitchen staff and an expert bartender like Christine. Keep up the good work!

This place is great! It’s a little on the expensive side but every time we’ve gone the food is consistently delicious and high quality. The raw fish is always fresh. This place doesn’t skimp out on presentation. The food always looks as good as it tastes. The staff is very friendly and courteous. I would recommend the surf and turf roll and for dessert the apple pie! Really delicious food and good service!

This restaurant near Whole Foods has a happy hour from 4 – 7, and you can sit anywhere to order the items. Happy hour used to be a bit longer, but they scaled it back and also took off the any flavor mojitos(for $ 6), as we found out. I came to meet up with a friend on a weekday and we just sat in the bar since it was fairly early. The bar area does fill up after about 530, and it will get loud, so be prepared. My simple order consisted of a crazy Irishman roll and the beef skewers. The roll was very unimpressive and the beef skewers were pretty tough. At least they had some flavor from the marinade. The ambiance of the location is okay, but I much prefer the Kirby location. It has a younger crowd and better vibe.

Love their happy hour, which is all day Sunday and until 7pm on weekdays. Food: We ordered the tempura green beans($ 4), crazy irishman($ 3.5), spicy salmon($ 2.5), the crunch, pork belly sliders($ 6), calamari($ 5) and a georgia peach martini($ 6). Everything was delicious and I recommend trying all of those, especially the crazy irishman and the pork belly sliders. Do eat the pork belly sliders and crunch roll while they are hot and crispy. The happy hour portions are indeed smaller but that is why they’re cheaper. Their non-happy hour menu prices are a little higher. Ambiance: Beautifully decorated restaurant with romantically dim lighting. Outdoor seating available with exotic décor and a lakeside view. There is upstairs seating and a section for a large party. There is bar seating in front of the chefs. At the bar, a flat screen TV is conveniently located for the guests. Good customer service, our waiter was pleasant.
