I am giving it 3 b/c I am not sure what it deserves… I guess I was not sure what to expected. By the name, I was thinking a soup place, but was surprised at the set up. A kid(yes, maybe 10) greeted me and was very nice, but it was strange. OH! all while they are dressing a baby at the hostess station… kids dont belong in the front of a restaurant, they should have a baby sitter or stay in the office. the food was decent, but there was no real explanation of what mixes with what, exactly how the process went, etc. SOOO while the food was decent, it was not what I was expecting and the atmosphere was strange. I will try it again now that i know the process and hope that they leave the kids at home so they can run a clean and successful business.

My brother is in the hospital directly across the highway. I was hungry and decided to give it a try. Not bad. I’d definitely compare it to Genghis Grill, but this place actually gives you separate bowls. One for veggies and the other for your meat. Came in around 7pm on a Monday, fairly empty. The food was yum although something was off. Maybe it was the fact that my chicken and steak were tough, or that my tofu magically disintegrated. LOL, I dunno! But it was cool. I’d eat there again if I were hungry.

First of all. im not a huge person for trying different things. give me texas bbq anyday. My wife and i decided to go mongolian for a day and try out the place right down the road… man was i glad we did. This place lets you go to 3 different bars and and fill 3 bowls with food that will be fried in front of you and served in a bowl or a to go box. You can choose on one side whatever vegatables you want in one bowl follwed by what meat you want in another and finally the third bowl os for the sauce. I had freh green beans. corn .brocoli.bean sprouts and bell pepper. In terms of meat i picked beef chicken and crab meat. They also have pork, shrimp, eggs, and tofu. You can choose between rice or noodles to start. All in all awesome flavor and sauce choice.

The food here is great! We have been here a couple of times. If you want something different, this is the place. The owners are very friendly. Restaurant is very clean. The food is always fresh.

I think it’s hard to get a Mongolian Grill to do your food wrong… so my review is basically on the cleanliness of the restaurant, because that’s what bothered me the most about another place we visited weeks prior. The vegetables and meats were kept in separate sections. I’m really particular about raw meats being out and they kept everything orderly — no spillage from prior customers. The pricing is really good too. I believe it was $ 11/pp. They keep the vegetable bowl separate from the meat bowl, and you can stack up a ton of food if you’d like.

As she seated me, the hostess asked if I’d ever been there before. I said no, so naturally her next question was what type of noodle I wanted. «Um, what are the options» was the question I shouldn’t have had to ask. Well it was all downhill from there. She hands me a thimble and warns with a forced smile, «This is for protein only.» Next she points to a teacup and says, «you put your veggies and fruits here.» OMG why didn’t I listen to the Schwarzenegger voice in my head yelling, «Get out now!» Before I give you the rest, I will admit they do have a nice selection of fresh veggies(although I’m not sure why there was pasta in that section). The«protein» section was mostly meat, plus tofu – and mushrooms for some reason. Nice, fresh selections here as well. Now we arrive at the part it seems all Houston stir fry restaurants manage to fail at – sauces and seasonings. So there’s a section of premixed sauces then another of seasonings(onion powder and the like). You put the sauce in a little bowl, which will be added to your food as it’s cooked. You’re supposed to add the seasonings to the protein only. I didn’t know either of these things, though I won’t blame it on insufficient signage. It may have been because I was trying to be patient and give the place a chance, and didn’t notice. I say that all Houston Mongolian stir fry spots fail at this because I am used to the ones in Austin, where sauce recipes are posted on the wall and they tell you exactly how many ladles of each ingredient to add to make your sauce – rather than being left to your own culinary skills to decide which seasonings to use. Since I was winging it, my food came out pretty tasteless. So I’m done with Houston’s Mongolian stir-fry scene.

I really love this place. Out of all the Mongolian restaurants I’ve been to this one is the best. Lots of great sauce selection. Plenty of veggies to choose from and all kinds of protein.

Customer service is so poor, I will not be coming back. They watch you like a hawk. Charge you $ 1 for an extra egg and make sure you use the small for the meat. No smiles and serve is spotty if any. If I had options I would chosen that.

Excellent food with a nice variety of meats and vegetables that the diner picks from. These are combined with the rice or noodles of choice and then stir fried with a sauce also chosen by the customer. The result is a potentially very healthy meal that is tasty with plenty of quantity to often allow for leftovers. Great stuff.

I’ve been to quite a few Mongolian restaurants. This one ranks pretty high for me. Food cooked as it should be, tastes fresh and not over-seasoned. I will be coming back.

The best seasoning! Workers were FRIENDLY. I recommend to all of you what I always had: get it TOGO! Why? The sauce marinates the veggies, beef and whatever else better by the time you get home, it just tastes better. And the main reason is because you could never finished one meal in a day. Trust me. Its just too many to eat(which is good!) Or else, get one order for two(or maybe 3!!)

This place is fine if you’re looking for a quick lunch with lots of options. You know the drill, fill your bowls with veggies and meat, pick your noodles, seasonings etc. and they cook it for you and bring it to your table. Couple things I noticed: 1. The veggies are cut up overly large and couldn’t fit much into the tiny bowl. Four pieces of broccoli filled up half the bowl. I guess that’s how they portion control. 2. Variety of meat, only a couple of them are seasoned. Like they have raw eggs! 3. Lots of good sauces to choose from, some are thick and sweet looking, probably not homemade. 4. Love that peanuts are an optional add into your food Anyways, if you want something quick and are neutral about flavor, it’s a good stop. Thanks for not being greasy!

I really like this place! I’ve been coming here for years and if anything, they’ve gotten better! I recommend the Mongolian noodles(rice noodles) and get two cups of sauce instead of one. This place is really good and the staff is very friendly!

A Great Family Owned Small Business with yummy food! My family of four, 2 adults and 2 children have been eating here for about two and half years. The owners have come to know our faces and always remember what we like to drink and the wonderful starters we enjoy. They never assume without asking, but they do ask us first if we’d like spring rolls and our regular drink orders. It is nice in huge Houston to have a place that is so welcoming and works hard to get to know their customers well. Every time we arrive they welcome us warmly. The veggies are to die for fresh and beautiful. Last time I was there I could see the gentleman cleaning and cutting them up just before adding them to the buffet area. They have lots of fresh meat, and sauces. The restaurant is spotless and the bathrooms are nearly a work of art. They have worked so hard at not only keeping the place nice but investing in it and improving it over time. In this recent economy so many restaurants have let things like the bathroom become run down and a mess. Not here.

A hot bowl I can customize with the veggies, meats and seasonings of my choice? Thank you! Sounds good? It is. Hot bowl is one of the«you choose it, we cook it» places that seem to be everywhere. What I like about Hot Bowl as compared to other places is the freshness of the ingredients, variety of seasoning and sauces, friendly service and above all, the cleanliness. The whole set up is simple. You arrive, get seafed and the hostess explains how Hot Bowl works. If there are any misunderstandings all you need do is read one of the many instructions posted about the place. After being seated you fill out a card designating which carb you want: steamed rice, fried rice, brown rice, rice noodles or other. Then you are given two bowls. One is for veggies and fruit, the other for proteins. You can pile as much as your appetite desires into the bowls. The selection of veggies and fruits isn’t overwhelming but there is enough choice that you’ll be satisfied. Proteins include beef, chicken, shrimp and pork. Everything we saw was fresh and well stocked. After picking out the main ingredients, you can enhance them with one of the several sauces. Separate cups for sauces are available at the station. Additional spices and seasonings are available, too, so you can have the exact flavor you want. Once finished choosing, you hand your bowls to the guy at the grill who cooks your food perfectly. The food is then brought to your table. It’s like an assembly line for meal making and eating. You can order additional items to go with the meals you create. We chose the fried dumplings which were served with a savory sauce. They were light, flavorful and went very well with our chosen meals. Our meals were delicious and tasted as good as they looked. Everything was cooked to our standards. Meats and seafood were tender and quality with no stringy, fatty or gritty pieces. The hot tea was a wonderful accompaniment to the meals. We were offered drinks to go once the meal was finished. The staff were friendly and checked on diners regularly while keeping the place clean. I was impressed and relieved to see the food stations so well kept. Nothing is so big a turn off as nasty eateries. There were no worries here, however. After an active day, this place was a welcome discovery. I am glad we tried this place. Add the aforementioned to the fact that there is endless variety in meal choices, I am certain we will be back. Give this place a try yourself.
