Food was amazing! Me and my friend had the steamed shrimp dumplings and they were oh so good! Then we ordered the Terri roll, thunder roll, and the summit roll all three were so fresh and delicious! We finished off with the red bean ice cream and again not disappo Was my first time there and loved it. It is byob which I didn’t know. Cute place and service was great, out waitress was very attentive.

This is my go to place for sushi! Bento box is enough for my daughter and I to share. Good miso soup, ginger salads, excellent customer service, reasonable prices. They also have some of the best dumplings I have ever had!

Just ate here on New Years Eve last night. I haven’t eaten here several times before when I lived in Summit but this has been my first time back in years. Service was quick, efficient and friendly. The atmosphere is very nice and it makes me wonder why I waited so long to come back. For dinner my friend and I stuck to sushi and split an assortment of rolls. We were very satisfied with the sushi and the entire experience. I’d definitely recommend to locals in the area.

One of the appetizers, Roasted Duck served in small plate, tastes really tender and juicy! Sashimi all are so fresh! Even desert tastes really great!

I am not a sushi eater, but meet friends at Taka a couple times a month. I have never had a bad meal here and the wait staff is always friendly.

I have only been here for lunch and I really enjoy the chiraishi lunch special. They do fish substitutions for me because I don’t like maguro. The rice tastes really delicious. They season it just right and it’s cooked to perfection. Sometimes I go there because I crave the rice!

Solid place for sushi tucked away in the lovely downtown of Summit. Good service and good food made for a delightful evening with colleagues — we ordered apps and rolls for the table and everything was great. BYOB was also a plus. If you’re ever in the neighborhood looking for sushi, Taka will satisfy your craving.

This is one of my go-to sushi spots in the Summit area. Cute and cozy, and(of course) delicious food. My team comes to Taka about once a week for dinner. Our repeatables are: Appetizers: — Avocado Boat — Shumai /Gyoza — Tuna Tartar(awesome plum sauce) — Rock Shrimp — Miso Cod — Spicy Kani Salad Entrees: — Any/every sushi roll — Seafood Hot Pot — Fried Rice Alcohol — BYO Dessert — for people’s birthdays, they have the most amazing and fun candles you’ve ever seen — i promise.

Summit definitely needs to open up another sushi spot because this is the only one and it is really meciocre. Huge sushi buff here and I was not impressed at all. Not to mention phone staff was really incompetent. Fast delivery

For the area… good sushi. It’s the only place we order from because there is nothing better. Not to say it is great but it does the job when we are on a sushi kick. The rolls are very good. The specialty rolls and sushi is delish as well. I haven’t tried any of their hot food because, well it’s a sushi joint! We usually order 5 – 6 rolls as well as the sunomono. We usually do take out but when we do dine-in the staff is indifferent. Definitely not very friendly but not out right rude. Food is good. If you are in the area and need a sushi fix go to Taka. I wouldn’t drive out of my way to come here tho.

Back for more at our local restaurant. .yum! Bf remained consistent with beef negimaki which he loved. I split some sushi with a friend. .my favorite and always excellent. .jumbo Taka Roll. We tried the Terri roll… salmon with avocado and crispy outside which was a little plain, but very smooth and creamy. Our disappointment was with the spicy salmon roll. It was definitely chopped salmon, but Nooo spice. Waitress’ response was to offer to bring us hot mayo. We opted to ask for regular hot sauce which made the roll tolerable. .but still just mediocre. This really struck a chord because about a year ago, I ordered a spicy tuna roll there. Out came an orange colored spicy salmon roll that they insisted was tuna. The manager offered to bring another which I said that I did not want if it was the same filling as in the roll that I received. …out came another spicy salmon rolll!!! Anyway, I will never again order another spicy chopped roll again! !! The other food is great!

Not the best service, when I asked for a ice cream she brought me the check instead? … Careless staff and they usually take a while to bring the food. HOWEVER… the sushhiiii is AMAZING and reaaaaally fresh !!!

My parents live in Summit, and Taka has been our go-to restaurant. Over the last 7 years, Taka distinguished itself with fresh sushi and friendly service. Big plus is that it’s BYOB — and our server last week even warmed our sake for us. Highly recommend.

My second time here. The sashimi is okay but the service is not good at all. They served dinner while we were still eating our apps and rudely pushed our apps aside. I can complain more but I won’t, I’m just not coming back.

Being that it’s sushi in Summit, I guess my expectations shouldn’t be that high… Nevertheless Taka Sushi is a cute restaurant that tries to be as authentic as possible with the atmosphere, décor, and open sushi bar in the back of the restaurant. I believe it’s BYOB so +1 for that. We ordered 3 different rolls — California, spicy salmon, and spicy scallop. They were all good and freshly prepared — no real complaints there. My sister ordered the tempura udon. It was weird cause they served it separately. The udon itself lacked some flavoring in my opinion — didn’t think it was salty enough. The tempura was quite good! I got the pork katsu lunch box. The katsu was alright… a bit dry. But the box is definitely a good deal! We’ve also gotten catering from Taka and they were super accommodating and let you pick kind of any combination of sashimi and sushi and put it on a nice large plate all pretty. So if you’re hosting a party and want lots of sushi, this is a great place to order from. Overall if you’re really craving some sushi and don’t feel like leaving the comforts of Summit, then Taka Sushi is a safe bet for a good Japanese meal.

We been coming here for the past year and a half. The sushi is always(with the exception of Saturdays and Sundays) fresh and quick to come. From the specials rolls, you can’t go wrong with the Taka jumbo, the Phoenix and the Fancy roll. The sashimi is delightful and fresh as are the hand rolls. Be mindful in the check as they tend to sneak extra charges for extra avocado, and such. Service is great depending on the day and the waitress. Chloe usually takes good care of us and is very sweet and fast. But sometimes there are others that are not every friendly and would just take your order and leave. Overall Taka in summit is going to be sorely missed as we now move to Montclair. But we will be back for some great sushi as good food always do.

This is my go-to sushi place in Summit. Overall the fish and rolls are fresh and good. This is a frequent stop for my family of four, and I can largely thank this place for getting my kids to eat(devourer) sushi. The atmosphere and service is OK. Complaints(and I’m reaching)(1) there is always a slight odor and(2) they don’t serve milk at all. On the plus side, there is a liquor store right down the street where you can grab a bottle of saka or whatever you’re into. Update: This was my go-to sushi place. Shunju has become a strong contender.

Got the green salad and while the ginger dressing was good, I am not a fan of iceberg lettuce green salads on a plate. Is rather a bowl and lettuce that isn’t so large that you have to cut it. Got my usual, tuna avocado rolls. I used to get the yellowtail scallion but remembered I thought it was a bit fishy tasting the last time I had it. The rice is bordering on a little overlooked, but still I enjoyed it. Tried my husbands spicy scallop which was tasty! Good service and quick.
