I love the Buttered Biscuit! Be prepared for large portion sizes and somewhat of a chaotic environment. The original restaurant in Sumner seems to always be busy– duh, great food, however it always seems like staff is running around.(I know it’s because it’s busy– however sometimes you can tell they are flustered and often being told what to do by the owner). Seating is interesting; old kitchen tables. Which is cute and eclectic– I think to represent«grandmas cookin’» . If you haven’t been here, I’d recommend it. They serve their famous corn bread with most breakfast meals– which is a must to try! It’s the best corn bread I’ve ever had! My favorite meals are their breakfast dishes, don’t really have a specific fave; I change what I get each time. Now that there is a Buttered Biscuit Too in Bonney Lake, we go there. Same Great food, just closer to our house and less chaotic. I highly recommend stopping by for delicious food– but be prepared to bring tons home!

If you’re looking for old fashioned home cooking, this is the place. A friend suggested I try out this restaurant so we did! The chicken fried prime rib with white gravy on mashed potatoes was the bomb. Huge portions that we ended up taking home. It also came with a warm bacon salad, large slice of cornbread with honey butter and dessert. We also ordered the club sandwich and fries. The waitress was awesome. The restaurant is a little«hole in the wall» but worth trying out. We will be back when we’re in the area!

I have been coming here for years to eat breakfast and it has always been amazing until yesterday. The usually amazing corn bread was like a hard brick with not much flavor. The scrambles were good but the size of the portion had decreased by 1⁄3 and the price was the same as when you got a large portion. I am not sure what happened to this place but I wish it would go back to what it used to be. Now I am going to have to rethink about going here again. I hope the owner takes the reviews seriously and changes things for the better.

A coworker told me about this place so I thought I would give it a try. We went on a Saturday morning and had to wait about 20 minutes before getting sat. There’s two floors and it was quite spacious. The tables were a fair distance apart from each other so you wouldn’t be too crowded to overhearing other people’s conversation but still made use of all the space to house enough tables. Service was fine although I did not get a refill on my water which I needed. The food didn’t take long to come out. We ordered the chicken fried steak which was a 12 Oz and the salmon eggs benedict. My boyfriend enjoyed his salmon because it was actually a nice chunk of fish in ratio to the biscuit and eggs. The presentation is poot though. It was drenched in sauce and you couldnt tell where the biscuit or the salmon or the eggs were underneath all that sauce. My chicken fried steak however was more breading than meat. The gravy was also a little thick and flavorless. It didn’t help the breading of the chicken fried steak. If anything it was just a mushy texture. I was told to try the cornbread and quite frankly it’s not that good. The texture was crumbly and a little dry. The only thing that saved the cornbread was the butter that they generously gave you. It was sweet and moist and made every bite of the dry cornbread worth it. I wouldn’t come back to this place because the food frankly isn’t quite there for me.

Update on the Buttered Biscuit experience… not too long after my first review a Tami offered her apologies over our experience here and offered to send a gift certificate for a «do over». That was above and beyond service and I was flattered. In a Unilocal message she asked for my address so the gift certificate could be sent. According to the length of time when the message was sent that was 2 months ago and nothing arrived in the mail. :(

Wow… no kidding the portions are almost overwhelming but very good. Surprised it had 2 floors and we ate upstairs with natural lighting and windows. The staff were all very nice and the cornbread was off the hook. I had the Cowboy Omelet and had to pack half of it to go home. You have to search this place out, but it’s worth the hunt. We plan on coming back again… and again.

I went here for the first time yesterday, I was highly disappointed although the portions are huge I ordered something with a side and the waitress explained they were out and waiting on a food delivery, not thinking about it again when I was leaving I seen two young men hauling in a truck load of winco bags including all kinds of meat and produce, if you prefer not to eat Winco meat and produce I would definitely not go here.

I have never visited Sumner until we tried this place. We’ve been there a few times now, and the food was very good with very generous portions, and a good wait staff each time, we really enjoy coming to Sumner now because of this place. Here is my issue and it has to do with tipping… I’ve never been charged a tip when we’ve dined here before, when I bought a Groupon for this place, I did miss that they added gratuity in the fine print; I hate fine print, I don’t memorize it, and it’s easy to miss details. It’s ONLY legal to include gratuity to an order if it’s ADEQUATELY disclosed, I don’t call fine print as a place to adequately disclose such a charge… In general I’m not a fan of automatic gratuity, it takes away my choice to decide what I want to tip, it makes me feel good to reward good service, but not to be charged/required to pay something, it then turns into an additional charge, that’s not what a tip is, nor is it what tipping is all about. We weren’t part of a large group, we are a family of four, gratuity wasn’t added before, it was only added this last time because we had purchased a GROUPON, if it’s not a normal everyday practice to charge a family of four gratuity then it’s a scam and a rip off to only charge it to them because they had a groupon, it no longer makes the groupon a deal or a special. The moral of this story is… DON’T BUY A GROUPONTOTHISPLACE, IT’S A RIPOFF…

We have been coming here for breakfast for years and the service is still great, even on Sundays when it get nuts. If you come on Sunday for breakfast, it’s going to be slow. That is just the way it is. The alternative would be to turn people away. Be patient people! The SOS is a hot seller I hear. give it a shot, I like the crepes too.

I’ve always enjoyed BB for breakfast, so last night me and the wife decided we wanted to have breakfast food for dinner. Bad idea. The service was sub par, the biscuits and cornbread were stale, and the cinnamon roll French toast was completely different. Instead of one giant delicious roll, we were given two tiny cinnamon rolls that had obviously been sitting out in the open all day(very very stale). When I asked our waitress if they had changed the dish, she lied and said it’s always been that way. Last night BB lost us as customers. Now I need to find a different breakfast place to go to.

Ever drink wine from a mason jar? Well it’s pretty cool. Corn bread is really good, the icing is sweet with lots of butter flavor. Had a hard time deciding on the menu because everything sounded so good. There corn beef hash is my favorite thing I tried. It even had sauerkraut in it, my favorite. Chicken friend steak was super delicious too. Between my table and the table behide me all you could hear was ‘mmmm this is so good’. I can’t wait to come back.

This place is a dive and not in a good way! The place was dark and dirty. Every single table was dirty at noon and stayed dirty until we left an hour and a half later. The smart ass waiter(wish I would have gotten his name) sat in the back on his phone while we waited and waited for him to take our order then later just to refill coffee. When he did bring our drinks he spilled coffee and juice all over our table. The breakfast I had appeared to be scrambled eggs out if a warming pan and ditto the potatoes. Cafeteria food? Ugh on the famous sickening sweet hunk of weirdly dense cornbread. I know, I know we should have left but it was pouring and we aren’t from Sumner so we felt stuck. Thanks, but no thanks, Buttered Biscuit. Your name is homey and cute, but you aren’t.

The fish(of fish & chips) were flavorful, firm & the batter crispy. It doesn’t get any better! The pot roast was a little salty but with the mashed potatoes it was perfect. Brenton, our server, was great. We will definitely be back!

Holy yuuuum. The Buttered Biscuit is so good. I’m pretty sure I could come here every weekend and not get tired of it! Service: Overall pretty good. Our waitress was really nice to us and wasn’t pushy about checking in on us(mostly because they were slammed). My stepdad FORGOT to order my little sister something(because she went to the restroom) and the waitress got her order out in like five minutes and made sure there was nothing immediate she could bring out to her. She’s definitely great at providing customer service, I wish I had remembered her name! There were two girls at the front who were seating people that were kind of rude, in my opinion. They were loud and joking around with each other and only time they talked to the customers was to tell them to «move upstairs. like now, please.» Décor: Main reason why I deducted a star. I think this place is the older location, but it’s kind of dingy. I like the big wooden tables and how there’s chalkboards everywhere, but they need a major facelift. The bathrooms are definitely hurting — one of the toilets is cracked, the walls have chipped paint and holes here and there… Just kind of a mess. Food: The best. There’s no question when it comes to «can they make a good breakfast?» because HELLYEAH. Last time I went I got the Chicken Little and it was so good that I got it again… The chicken fried steak is sooo crispy and YUM. Their gravy has ground sausage in it as well as tons of pepper, so it packs a TON of flavor. Their spuds are super good too… And the cornbread. Don’t forget the cornbread. Only complaint is that I asked for cheese on my eggs and didn’t get any. I definitely recommend this place for any meal of the day, because I’m going to assume all their food is good here. I’ll definitely be back in the future, and I’ll even try to force myself to order something other than the Chicken Little…

Nice diner w good olé home-style cooking. We went for breakfast, took the advice of other reviews & didn’t feel like waiting in a long line, so were the first ones there~6:15am, but not long after ppl started coming in. Before 7 rolled around, some ppl were waiting for the remainder of their party of 12 to join them. Cornbread– Best Ever! It has some kind of sugar glaze or frosting on top with Lots of butter on top melting on to the sides, Yuuummm!(See the picture) Don’t be a chicken-OMG! Didn’t even look like it was touched when we packed the left overs. Country fried steak tasted homemade-for sure! Definitely not frozen! SOS gravy was one of the best I’ve had, again, homemade for sure! And then there’s the gramma eggs, potatoes– love the sauteed onions in the potatoes &2 biscuits! What a mouthful! Gary Pherson-homemade burger patty(pretty much country fried chicken w/o the breading) on 2 biscuits w sos & over easy eggs on top w country potatoes on the side. French toast was ok, nothing spectacular.

Always good. Don’t come expecting anything fancy, I mean really, they serve their drinks out of mason jars. It should be pretty clear from the beginning this is a delicious greasy spoon. Great place for breakfast and also for lunch. We have taken friends and family there too and everyone always loved it. A little on the pricy side for breakfast, but you have to take into consideration you’re paying for those huge portions– great place to share. We’ve liked all their omelettes and scrambles, but recommend the trainwreck or Kevorkian for those meat eaters and Paris Hilton for those who like more veggies. I love their biscuits, my husband and son prefer the cornbread with sweet butter/icing. I love their different Benedicts, the gramma eggs are loved by everyone. Just tried lunch there the other day and my husband had the meatloaf sandwich. Definitely a heart attack delivered on sourdough, and he loved it. Huge, messy and delicious. I tried their bacon-wrapped shrimp po’ boy. Mine was really good, but a little too salty for me with all the bacon, probably would have preferred it with plain shrimp. Tots and extra crispy and delish! Highly recommend if you’re in the mood for a great, reliable breakfast or lunch spot.

My first time visiting Buttered Biscuit I had no idea the portions were so huge! I ordered the Strawberry Waffle and the WTF! The waffle was so large it hung off my plate. I’m sure no plate in the restaurant was big enough to sufficiently hold that waffle. Then there was the WTF! A conglomeration of ingredients that created a massive and delicious meal. A monstrous omelette that I was not ready to conquer that day. My lovely girlfriend got the Gary Pehrson. A large portion of two all beef patties, on top of a pair of mile high biscuits, smothered in their delicious country style gravy with a healthy serving of fried potatoes and onions. This cute restaurant touts ‘Gramma’ style breakfast in a uniquely designed setting. This establishment is cute and unlike any other. Televisions are on the wall in each dining area, which is perfect on Sunday for Football season. If you’re in the Sumner area and want good food, in healthy sized portions be sure to swing by this place. Oh, and don’t forget your appetite. ;)

Wow. Do *not* come here on a Saturday. I’m used to lunch on weekdays in this place, and have been in for breakfast on the weekend some time ago, and the difference is astonishing. It took around 20 minutes to be seated. Not a big deal. The place was packed. They took my name and placed it on a list, but didn’t give me any estimate on how long it might take before we could get a table. We were seated next to the ‘play area’ for children without being asked if that was okay. At one point I was head-butted in the knee by some random child retrieving a ping pong ball. That was not okay. It is not okay for random children to be crawling under tables.(Not specific ones, either. Really, no children crawling under tables, please.) It took another half hour from the time we were seated before we got to order. At the fifteen minute mark someone brought us drinks. After ordering, it took about an hour before our food arrived. During this whole time, the screaming children didn’t help. Once the food did arrive, it was tepid at best. An hour to get undercooked eggs, cold hash-browns, and cold bacon. It’s really sad it was such a horrific experience. I used to really like this place. I don’t know if they’re the victims of their own success and haven’t staffed appropriately, or what’s going on. Needless to say, I won’t be back. Ever.

I have to go back in time to review this place. I visited my bio dad and step mom in Puyallup, and before I left they took me here for breakfast. I had a huge omelet, hashbrowns, and the cornbread of coronary death. I think I am feeling chest pains just thinking about it. I also had like half of my son’s chicken fried steak, amongst other things. I can’t think of a single thing they can change about the food. It’s incredible. Regretfully I must dock one star because of the wait times. I can absolutely see why there is a wait, due to the food being out of this world(I like it more than a donut from Voodoo, and that’s an accomplishment) but crowd control was pretty off on our visit, and the lady seating us seemed overwhelmed and annoyed at the never ending line of patrons wanting to eat coronary cornbread. Next time I’m in WA for more than just a short layover(like two days ago. Sad.) I will definitely be back!

Nice breakfast spot in the south end. I was told by a few people to check this place out and I finally made the trip to Sumner. First off it’s very easy to find, right in the middle of town and there’s a few parking lots close by which made it nice. It was crowded when we showed up on a Saturday morning but we were expecting to wait in a long line here. Fortunately they have a pretty good system so the wait wasn’t all that bad, maybe 20 mins or so and that was with the line out the door. The atmosphere inside is cool, very PNW homey/cabin-ish style with plenty of booths and chairs for seating. The menu had some really nice comfort food choices which did make it hard to decide. I ended up going with their huge chicken fried steak which had everything you would expect, eggs, biscuits, gravy, the works. Portion sizes are out of control here and the food is very tasty. I really liked their cornbread which has a cream cheese type topping, it was very good and I recommend trying it. Good service and pricing as well. I am for sure heading back here to try some of their other awesome food choices.
