I visited this place for a goodbye dinner for my friend, and it was by far the best sushi I’ve ever had. It’s very fresh I have never ordered a dish from them that ever came out disgusting or odd tasting… They have so many selections on their menu for children and adults… I highly recommend this place for families that love to eat sushi together. Great service, fast, and the make sure your drinks are always filled, as well as your tummies!

Solid good sushi & bentos. Sometimes it’s slow service if they are busy. One of our usual places!

The volcano roll is amazing. So decadent. The service is always quick. The food is delicious. Who would have thought sunland would have a top class sushi place.

As others have mentioned, there aren’t that many authentic Japanese places in Sunland-Tujunga…Sake Sake is home style Japanese food made by a friendly Korean crew. I have always been happy with any roll I’ve eaten here, including my recent find, their 911 roll, which is spicy tuna wrapped with rice and avocado and topped with a red ribbon of sriracha. The 911 also came with a thick soy sauce, the consistency of maple syrup. The beef gyoza(potsticker) is very deep fried instead of pan fried. It resembles more of a Korean mandu dumpling than a gyoza, but it hit the spot. To go orders are prepared quickly and packed nicely for the transport home. Eating in is a pleasure with the dark and relaxing ambiance. It’s nothing fancy, but great for a quick lunch or dinner. Parking is plentiful(since the Starbucks moved out of this shopping plaza). It’s difficult to see from the street, but if you’re heading east on Foothill, make the first or second left after the 7 – 11 at Oro Vista. They have Japanese beer specials, which means I’ll have to be back here real soon…

When a waitress tell you that there are many other customers wanting to eat there that your not important to them. It time to fine another sushi spot.

My kids love sushi and they always want to go there because it’s close by our house, but this last time we went, the service was really bad. The waitress is SOORUDE! We felt very unwelcome. The food is good but the service is terrible! I don’t think we’ll be back to this place anymore.

The sushi here is average at best, but for Sunland it’s okay I guess considering there’s very few options around. It’s decent if your into rolls & want some saki @ a local place, other than that not much more to say.

Great sushi spot in sunland! Amazing food and quick and attentive service! Always a pleasure to dine in, very quite. The only down side to the place is their rating:/ for some reason they scored a «B» as far as their public health record! Make you think twice

I’ve been here many times with my husband and we enjoy it every time. We’ve been to better sushi places, but with this place being so close to our home, it’s super convenient and always hits the spot. The service is pretty decent as well. Can’t complain. Not 5 star AMAZING… But definitely well worth 4 star goodness!

I have to say for a tiny little sushi joint tucked away in Tujunga, this place is really great! The quality of sushi is definitely there, and the staff is very friendly. I generally go to Montrose for sushi, since it’s so close to my work and all, but whenever I feel like sushi by home, this is my go to place. Hamachi [yellowtail] is Must, as well as finishing off with some uni sushi!

I know better sushi places than this. I am a Korean speaker myself, so it is really hard to enjoy the food when all I hear are the sushi chefs and the waitress gossiping loudly in Korean. The prices are a bit higher than some of the sushi places I know, and the quality isn’t as high. However, the place has some pretty good Unagi(eel). The first roll of Unagi I got was 5⁄5. The second one was 3⁄5. So I guess it really depends on how long they cook it. I got a salmon sushi and salmon roll, those were okay. 3.5÷5. Would probably stop by once in a while since it is so close to where I live. 1 word to sum it up? Mediocre.

I ate here today. Food was good but I was a little bothered with the waitress. I asked for fried rice and with attitude she told me it wasn’t a Chinese restaurant. Ummmmm I’ve been to sushi places in the past where they have fried rice. Besides her shitty attitude everything was ok. Won’t be back again because of her though.

Have been a regular here since they opened. Jin, the owner, is a very kind affable person. Service is prompt & efficient. The quality, size, & price are fair & reasonable. The ambience is warm & inviting. Some of our favs are ahi tartar, the house udon, sashimi special, dragon roll, sweet shrimp sushi, albacore sushi, & hamachi kama! Definitely recommended & our fav place!

Quick Review: At this point if I go to Sake Sake again I might have to ask myself«Am I a masochist?». Good food, terrible service, mixed feelings. TLDR: The waitress looks annoyed and all I asked was«May I have some napkins please?». She looked so miserable, never made eye contact, and hardly spoke a word. Ordered 8 items, everything tastes good as usual. Member of our table got angry at the service. Made it super awkward. Tipped 20% as usual, left feeling sad and confused. I think I’ll just opt out to get the Filet o Fish at Mcdonalds and save myself the drama. At least with that big warning label I know what I’m getting there(Cancer). =(

We really do need more places like Sake Sake in Tujunga. It’s great business for them to be the only ones in S-T, but I would crave just a TAD more variety. They don’t have SO many rolls like most sushi places, but they do offer 21 rolls on their menu — and to be fair, the ones they do have are DELICIOUS and the rolls are generously sized. I specifically like their salmon and spicy tuna, but ALL of the fish is delicious. Even the shrimp has great taste and texture, which tends to be hit and miss at many sushi places I’ve been to. The fish always tastes fresh, and the rice is cooked perfectly. It’s not overly cooked nor is it too sticky — it’s always perfect. The rolls are rather large, so you definitely get your money’s worth. The food is always presented nicely, even in to-go boxes. If you haven’t already and your diet allows it, try their spicy mayo. It’s pretty good! In my opinion, they’re priced well. The specialty rolls are as cheap as $ 8.95, and no pricier than $ 10.95… are you kidding me?! Most places I’ve been to that don’t taste as fresh are at LEAST $ 9.00 for some crappy wanna-be specialty roll to as expensive as $ 15 for a much better roll all around. ALL the rolls I’ve had here are delicious. This place is clearly priced well. For the quality and quantity, it’s worth it. People are just used to small-town deals being from Sunland-Tujunga, but this place is just as good if not better than most sushi places I’ve been to. I really am SO surprised that people are complaining about the service/attitude. That just hasn’t been my experience. They’ve always been humorous and very welcoming, and I have never felt they needed improvement in their service. I admit, they could use more waiters on busy nights, but they definitely have a great attitude. My roommate and I always order takeout by phone — at least 2 to 3 times a month. Nothing wrong with their restaurant venue, we just love enjoying fresh sushi at home since they are a block away from us. They ALWAYS give us our correct order, and add some complimentary miso soups. I don’t know if they always do that, but our orders are usually around $ 80.00, so maybe that’s why. We don’t like asking for freebies, so it’s nice that they do that for us when we don’t expect it. Highly recommend :)

This is one of my most favorite sushi restaurants. Seriously for Sunland, this place looks really nice inside. The food is just amazing! I’ll post up a picture of my favorite dish, the popcorn lobster roll. I also love the baked scallop roll and the baked mussels. I appreciate the fact that the faculty staff always greets you when you walk in. I also appreciate the consistency of the food. It’s always delicious. Worthy of 5 stars. Unilocal. Don’t you dare remove my comment!

Very nice evening after shopping– stopped in for takeout. Hawaaian roll and calamari roll are good! There were lots of people here but the man taking care of both sitting customers and take out customers makes you feel welcome, wanted and updated. Contrary to some Unilocalers’ opinions, Sunland and Tujunga have a bunch of great places to eat as we are a little secret waiting to be discovered, nestled against Camel Back Mountain. You know how I love being welcomed so nicely when we could choose so many other options– this is part of what I pay for. Class, customer care and great food. Truly this is 2014 and whining about prices is really weak. I am so glad I finally got in here. A nice looking venue and it is hard to imagine you are in a strip mall between Subway and dollar store. I hope to get back very soon and check out their menu more.

I’m going to give them 3 stars because I have a love hate relationship with them. Once they hung up on me when we were placing a large order. I called back and they didn’t answer so I left a bitchy voicemail about how we were going to boycott this restaurant. We are a local business up the street and nobody should mess with us. We are a bunch of women who don’t cook and order out everyday. Not to mention that when we order from this place, it’s a minimum of $ 120. Anyway. My boss treated us to sushi last week so I ordered from here again. I really couldn’t help but miss their beef teriyaki lunch special. It’s a lot of food for $ 11. I also split a Philly roll with my coworker and it was pretty good. The sushi is a bit overpriced and not the freshest fish but their lunch special is the bomb.
