I go here often with my friends to chill out after a long week at work — the service is excellent and the food is very good. Always a great crowd and atmosphere, especially on the weekends. They have a great selection of wines — perfect place in the neighborhood to unwind.

So, racist place. This place is only for white ppl. I have nothing else to say about racism. From the owner to the bartender to the employees. I’m So f*****g disappointed. Never ever going back there. I wish to put 0 star. I have no idea how do they doing business there. Never going back there ever. On Friday night. I was with my wife. I’m Latino. I have worked in this industry for so many years. It was My first time being there. I sat at the bar with my wife. Took forever to get bartenders attention. He wasn’t busy making drinks. He was busy pleasing a group of ppl sitting next to us. I ordered my drinks with my wife. She did take longer time to order compare to me. Didn’t know if bartender was trying to make jokes about it. Was not funny when it comes to my wife. From the group there was a person next to us was making jokes about me and my wife and the food we have ordered. The joke was so obvious to ignore. Our bartender was adding more jokes in to it. It was so disrespectful. Bar was not crowded enough for not to avoid that rasist jokes. guess they didn’t want us to be there. I did not feel comfortable about dine in there. Not going back there.

My friends had a co-ed baby shower for my husband and I at Claret last weekend. It was perfect – everything I wanted in a baby shower. It was casual and people mingled – it wasn’t stationary and stuffy. My friend lives out of town so I was scoping out venues for her to check out. My husband and I live in Sunnyside and have been to Claret – and thought it would be a perfect spot to have a party. And it was. The food was good and there was enough variety to keep everyone interested. I’m told the wine was good and for a party of 40 people we did a case(12 bottles) with an extra 3(which we were able to tack on the day of). All of our friends and family were very impressed with Claret – the location, food and staff. Justin was helpful from the very beginning. He gave me all the initial info and then worked with my friend to get all the details down for the party. I can’t say enough it enough – we had such a great time. Thanks to my friends for doing an amazing job and thank you Claret for hosting such a great event.

Excellent place to have a drink, tapas, pizza, light fare… Quiet in the early hours of the evening but noisy later. It depends on who is the ‘DJ’ at the bar controlling the music with soft or hard rock. If Justin is in you are lucky because he administers the sounds with good balance between soft and hard. Also there are live guitar or something else performances late in the evening that I haven’t experienced…

Places if perfect fit for Sunnyside! Came here for their happy hour 25 $ for bottle of wine and pizza, best decision ever. Took a seat by the big bay window with my husband and 3 month old, we had nice friendly service. Food came out in normal amount of time. Enjoyed some classic rock while we ate. Will definitely return.

I like this place but lately there has been s snooty attitude from one of the women who hangs out there and might be a relative of owner but she acts as if she owns the place. She is not particularly pretty but acts as if she were

This is the best bar in Sunnyside. My husband and I are regulars. We return as often as possiible for the super-friendly staff and manger, wonderful atmosphere, great beer and wine list, and delicious bites. Need I say more?

Really nice place — we got great seats next to the open window and enjoyed an excellent charcuterie board with some wine and beers. The staff was very friendly and helpful — would definitely recommend checking this place out.

My favorite place in the neighborhood. Wine selection is great(the beer selection is also solid). The salads are out of this world. Try the one with apples and proscuitto or the new organic chicken, which I had last night and loved. I also love the mushroom pizza. It’s great to just sit at the bar and make friendly conversation. This place is never too noisy, but always lively. The sidewalk tables are awesome on a sunny afternoon.

A nice, little spot in the neighborhood but food and service wasn’t so great. The pizzas were cold but the meatballs were DELICIOUS and def worth the try. As for their service, we had to wait about 40mins until our food was served(it was the longest I’ve ever waited to eat at a restaurant). Overall, besides the LONG wait, it is an okay place to visit BUT not worth the second visit.

My hubs wanted to take me to a nice, private & cozy spot nearby on our first date after a dinner. When we walked in a waitress greeted us w a pleasantly nice smile. The ambiance is very warm, ALL of the dishes r just perfect! My favorite is the original brick oven pizza although all the pizzas ive tried there r superb! Hummus w jalapeño w pita js also great. Cheese platters r very delish! I love them all! I always bring friends whos visitijg us out of town n they all love it! I know they have the pizza & wine special but i never make it… Wish one day to make it to take advantage of the special!

Ate here last year and was very pleased. Nice place to eat and have drinks when the weather is nice. I hope to visit here soon since I don’t live too far.

I feel a little bad giving this place 2 stars, but everything on Friday night was really a solid, «Meh. I’ve experienced better». 3 friends and I came here after enjoying a yummy dinner(which resulted my my getting sick… but I’ll get into this on that restaurant’s review) nearby. Our intention was to enjoy dessert and perhaps have a wine nightcap. Upon entering we were guided to a nice bench, given menus and served water. I noticed their pretty awesome draft beer and wine menu and made a mental note to come back and check them out… but our main goal here was dessert. Out of the group of 4, only 3 of us were in the mood for dessert and there were exactly only 3 types of dessert on the menu… so we got them all. The dessert du jour was Red Velvet Cake, I ordered their Tahitian Vanilla Crème Brûlée and my other friend ordered their Molten Chocolate Cake with whipped cream. Each item was $ 8. We legit waited 46 minutes for our desserts to be served and when we asked about it our waitress wasn’t apologetic in the least. In fact, her response was, «I told you it was going to take awhile. Do you still want them?», my group and I were flabbergasted — we never had a heads up that our order were going to take almost an hour to arrive. Had I known, I probably would have just ordered a beer. The dessert presentations were all very pretty and all came with a rose made out of cut up strawberries and chocolate syrup as stems. My crème brûlée was ooookaaaaay. It wasn’t impressive, but it was okay. The red velvet cake was disappointing on few different levels. The icing was meh, the cake itself wasn’t very moist and it was a tiny round portion — we were expecting a slice of cake… a generous one given the $ 8 price tag. This was a tiny little cupcake sized portion. Pffft. The Molten Chocolate Cake was easily the winner in this trio and as delicious and as decadent as it was, I wouldn’t endure the painful service just to order this again. One of my friends also ordered a sparkling rose wine and that took like 20 minutes to arrive to her(I think we had to ask about that too) and when the waitress came over and poured it in front of us, it wasn’t what my friend ordered. It was a flat rose. We pointed that out to her and 5 minutes later she returned with the correct bottle. I felt that considering that we were still waiting a ridiculous time for our desserts, and the rose wine and she poured the wrong one, the waitress should have just left the flat wine and comped it. Her attitude was simply unapologetic and there was no semblance of customer service. Given our experience here and how there are plenty of cool places in this part of Sunnyside, I don’t think I would return or recommend it to anyone… it’s a shame too because my friend(who had the wine issue) that suggested Claret Wine bar really likes and is a regular patron here. But I’d only return if I was with friends who really wanted to.

Claret has a great atmosphere — good music, but not too loud so it’s easy to have a conversation. The bartender was friendly and helpful. When I went they had my favorite beer on tap — Unibroue La Fin du Monde — which is hard to find. I was impressed! They also have a wide selection of wines — the girls next to me were ordering wine and asked the bartender to steer them in the right direction, which he did gladly.

This is where I meet up with my wife when she forgets keys and has to wait for me to get home. The wine comes in a mini carafe, which you pour into your glass. I’m not sure why. The windows get all foggged up, which is kinda cool.

This is a cute little«bo-ho» spot along a Skillman Ave that is slowly changing from a working class bastion of Queens to something with a bit of a more Manhattan vibe now that the times are a’ changin’. Claret is always a nice spot, though. The environment is very relaxed and the staff are certainly friendly. Ironically I’ve actually never had wine here. The Old Fashioned is tasty although could definitely be stronger, especially for the price. Have also had a vodka soda that was good but again, a bit overpriced. The food I’ve had by and large has been delicious. The truffle mac and cheese is great, there’s a mushroom/truffle panini that I ate in about three seconds flat because it was so good, and the pizzas are awesome. One problem I have experienced the two times I’ve been here has been the attentiveness of service. The servers are absolutely friendly, but after a certain point it’s hard not to comment — on my last visit, our table was one of only two toward the end of the Sunday night shift, and yet we were still waiting maybe ten minutes or longer for anyone to notice our«We’re done» stares/smiles/nods. Actually, those were originally«We’d like another drink» but we decided to go next door to Flynn’s for a pop instead. The server and bartender were having a conversation ten feet away from us that went on forever. That being said, this is a nice spot and the food is good. I think with maybe a double-down on attentiveness training and maybe a slight overhaul on either the strength or price of the drinks, this would be more of a must-go-to.

The pizza here is pretty refreshing; the problem is, you have to wait forever for it! Seem like our waiter had a lot on his mind or was new. either way, he needed to get it together. We all shared each others pizza and the best one was the one with the arugula on it. The crust on all the pizza was very thin and crispy(like an oven baked cracker). Our drinks taste like the the ice cubes and the alcohol were at war and the ice cubes won! smh. The place is cute so I might stop by again if I am in the area during the day to see if things are different then.
