It’s so fun to see this Columbian(South American?) café expand! I admit I wouldn’t have tried it otherwise, just because I assumed its clientele was mostly spanish-speaking. I love the café con leche, the chicken soup, and the round cheese pastry. It’s been busy both times I was there yet not over crowded.

First time here and I loved it. It definately be my on going breakfast place during my day off. The service is fast. Also, the food and bakery are great. The other Unilocalers recommeded beef empanadas, I tried it, and very pleased with it. Hot sauce goes well with it.

Been coming to this place for years, but the quality of the food has decreased significantly since the renovations. They seem to have changed the staff and the cooks. Miss the old staff, which was nicer and faster. Stop by for coffee and empanadas. Skip the sweets, the soups and the chicharron.

Sometimes you want some comfort food, and sometimes you’re too lazy to cook it yourself. On those days I usually go to El Buen Sabor. Whether it’s the sopa de gallina, or the carne guisada con arroz y lentejas(you can choose beans if you like), both are sure to hit the spot after a tiring day. The empanadas they have, baked or fried, are nothing spectacular, but decent if you’re on the go. In addition, they have all the Colombian bakery greatest hits: pandebono, pastel de guayaba con queso, etc. El Buen Sabor Bakery also underwent a recent renovation and expanded so there’s a lot more seating space available if you’re more about the dine in experience.

The Empanadas are some of the best I have ever had in New York City, the coffee here is authentic Colombian coffee which is pretty hard to come by, the staff here is super professional and kind, the new renovation is also very beautiful and more spacious, I would highly recommend.

I’ve been thinking about trying this place for awhile now as i work near it, and decided today was the day. i was pretty excited to try the empanadas(baked and fried). although it was a bit of struggle to order(due to the language barrier), we got through it… no huge biggie(but enough of a problem to mention). i get to work and the baked ones were colder than room temperature and the fried ones were only a touch warmer. talk about disappointed. i wondered if they were supposed to be that way, but after taking a bite of the beef one, i just couldn’t eat it that way. luckily the fried ones were warm enough to eat although just barely and surely not my preference. i wanted to wait until i got home to write my review(so i could heat everything up). ultimately, it was ok, but it lost A LOT of points after the let down from earlier. i MAY try it again, but only if they can heat it up in the store… and i want to try their lunch special. eh.

Cute lil bakery/restaurant. The coffee is amazing. I recommend their coffee with milk, they flavor it with cinnamon– so soooo good for these chilly days. And their pastries and baked empanadas make a perfect pair with their coffee. I will have to come back here to report on the food but by the looks of it, I get a feeling it’s going to be just as good as the pastries and empanadas. I’ll keep you posted.

I ordered some empanadas to go. Argentinian style baked beef and fried corn with beef and potatoes. The corn empanada was great, with a thin shell and a good amount of shredded beef. WAY better than Mama’s Empanadas. The baked empanada was tasty, but stone cold. I’m not sure if they heat them up if you eat-in instead of getting them to go, but that was a real let-down, and if I was on the run and not going home where I could heat them up, I would have been pissed. This place has recently expanded and renovated. It is clean and well lit and has lots of tables. It is true that the servers in this place struggle with English. I definitely did not experience what some reviewers say they have experienced with servers refusing to speak English or being rude to English speaking customers. My server was struggling, but she was absolutely trying to communicate with me and she was pleasant and polite. If you see someone clearly trying, don’t be an asshole. If you know a few words in Spanish, help them along. Point to what you want. It’s not that big of a deal. If the empanadas were kept warm this place would be 5 stars.

This establishment recently underwent a renovation, it’s much bigger with more seating. The food is your standard Colombian fare. Breads, cakes, pastries, soups, stews, rice, empanadas, arepas etc. Most of the items are items are good, the empanadas are really good, as well as the breakfast options. The desserts are ok, and the soups are a terrible watery mess. Service is very slow, especially in the mornings. They have a decent amount of staff behind the counter, but for some reason it takes them 3x longer to get your order together than any other bakery. I definitely would not go out of my way to come here, but if I’m in the area I’d get an empanada or two.

Nothing special here. Staff struggling with the English language. Plain and boring selection. All the same as everywhere else you encounter a Latin/Colombian bakery Plain. Simple and boring.

RUDE GROSEROS!!! The woman behind the counter couldn’t be bothered with me despite the fact it wasn’t busy. I had to repeat myself 5 freaken times when I selected a chicharon. This was because she was too busy trying to engage in her coworkers business. After ordering a chicharon and three empanadas, my bill was close to $ 9. The empanadas were doughy and the chicharon was poorly seasoned. I was curious about this establishment, but I will be going to El Pilon from now on. I should’ve listened to my sister. Ugh!!!

Their beef empanadas were fresh and delicious. The empanadas were made from corn and stuffed with shredded pieces of beef with potatoes. It is better than the ones from Mama’s Emapanadas. The hot sauce didn’t have much taste or flavor, so I would have to give this one to Mama’s Emapandas. Plus, they were stingy on the sauce(I got one hot sauce for two empanadas). The service was lacking though. As mentioned in some other reviews, the woman at the counter tried to skip me to go help some men that came after me. But, I politely told her that I was first and she asked me what I wanted.

Another Colombian bakery in the neighborhood it has been here for over 10 years. It is a bakery-restaurant place right on Queens Blvd my favorite is the baked Empanadas they are full of beef, VERY tasty and is a healthier choice than the fried ones. The coffee is really good and only $ 1.10 not bad in comparison to the other bakeries in the area. I had tried the soups, but they are not serve hot enough for me. The customer service is not bad the blond girl with pony tail is very nice to me and my husband sometimes she even bring the food to our table. Not a bad place to have a quick meal. Only three stars because they do not accept credit or debit only COLDHARDCHASH.

Love their food, empanadas are always on point! For the food I would give 4 stars, but there is one lady who is always to me and my little sister.(The blonde haired woman with the pony tail) She always tries to make me speak in spanish to her she’ll constantly ask me questions in spanish, if I understood I would’ve definitely answered back lol and she will ignore me for the first few minutes when I address her speaking in english she doesnt look at me she’ll pretend to text on her phone. Although, the other women are very very sweet and helpful. Her attitude wont stop me from getting those yummy empanadas lol! :)

Officially my go-to for chicharron and hot Colombian soup! It’s a daily struggle walking by this place knowing that there is a pile of fried pork belly beckoning me from within. It’s always perfectly fried. Never too tough to chew, perfect blend of crunchy and melty. I also love the cheesy bread they have which sells out halfway through the day, so get there early! Today I tried a roast chicken leg over rice with beans, maduros, and potato and it did not disappoint either! Bring cash.
