Golden Wok

I’ve been ordering from Golden Wok for a long time and they used to be my favorite Chinese in the area. However, the food has gone downhill over the years. Additionally, the customer service is really bad. The other day I ordered shrimp dumplings and sweet & sour chicken, but received chicken dumplings and general tso’s chicken. When I called to let them know of the mistake, instead of apologizing the woman on the phone tried to convince me that I should just eat the general tso’s chicken. Seriously? I had to argue with her for them to send me what I actually ordered. I didn’t even bring up the dumplings (since I hadn’t realized those were wrong until later on) or that they had overcharged me (since general tso’s is more expensive). This is not the first time I’ve experienced something like this with them.

Good Chinese food. Delivery is fast. Consistent with the quality of food and service. Can have a «off» day. They will accommodate you. Better tasting than other Chinese restaurants in the neighborhood. Friendly staff. Nothing fancy.

I ordered from here yesterday got 3 separate containers with food and each dish had hair in it. Do not order from this place there is more options

This review is to show and prevent you guys from ordering from this place. I order here at least once a week and today I was disgusted to see this insect on my six year old plate. I will never order from here again.

I really needed a fix of Chinese food. I decided to try Golden Wok. What a mistake, the food was tasteless. All of the take away was tossed out. I would gladly pay more for quality Chinese food Sunnyside seems to be cursed with bad Chinese restaurants. .Perhaps I am spoiled, I know how good Chinese food tastes.

Really delicious and fresh chinese food .
So far everything I’ve tried from here has been really amazing, it’s hard to find a good chinese spot but this is my go to place now, I drive totally out of my way to get food from here .
Top faves: general tso chicken, special fried rice, special lo mein

GREAT BBQ spare ribs. Fast delivery and friendy staff. Consistent in taste and place looks clean.

Based on the review we decided to give it a try… why not???
It was edible but terrible… the BBQ boneless too greasy too hard and too much sauce. The rice wasn’t good neither. Maybe was bad luck but its taste old… like a week left over. And the dumplings… OMG I am traumatized with those dumplings. Since I saw them I knew it… hideous… they supposed to be thin, light and delicious… well like I said maybe bad luck, but I will not recommend this place: (

Ordered Chicken with Broccoli combination platter. The broccoli was crunchy and chicken well seasoned. Great portion of both. The rice tasted nice and fresh. It was great food! Very pleased to finally find great Chinese food in my neighborhood!

Dependable, consistently good Chinese food at a good vale. Been going here for years and never had a problem. Lived in the Pacific Northwest for 2 years and found most Chinese places weren’t good out there. A $ 5 dish at this place beats any $ 20 dish in the PNW. Glad to be spoiled with good NYC eats again.

I’ve been here a few times, and ordered from them as well — their food was nothing spectacular and tasted like regular take-​out Chinese food. But that’s not the reason for the single star rating.
The single star rating is because of their delivery people, especially the girl in the pink hat — yes pink hatted girl, you know I’m talking about you!
Pink hat girl who rides the silent e-​bike, and another one who rides the moped constantly ride them on the sidewalks, also running red lights, going down the wrong way on the streets. This happens at all times of the day and night.
So imagine yourself walking home from the subway station just trying to get home to watch the Knicks game, only to find yourself almost clipped and knocked over into the bushes because of the silent e-​bike that went zipping past you and you happen to get a glimpse of a pink fluorescent hat as you try to gather yourself.
This was not an isolated incident, this has happened a number of times. There was even one time I was parking my car and I saw the e-​bike sitting on the sidewalk, assuming that the person was making a delivery. I stayed in my car until pink hat girl comes out. I immediately jump out of my car and run to get in front of the e-​bike that she was riding on the sidewalk in the dark. I tell her that it’s illegal to ride those e-​bikes on the sidewalk and also just riding them anywhere in NYC is illegal. She dismounts and walks the e-​bike down the sidewalk and jumps back on for a quick getaway — she was just out of my reach that slippery little devil.
The next time I see you pink hat girl, I won’t be so pleasant. Keep your e-​bike and mopeds off the sidewalk and follow the rules of the road!
Until we meet again PHG … you might have won the few times I’ve encountered you, but rest assure I will win this war … you are now officially my nemesis.

I’ve lived in Sunnyside my whole life and Golden Wok is one of my favorite places to eat! They are reasonably priced and speedy delivery. My favorite is the cheese wontons and general taos chicken.

So, I’ve been going to Golden Wok since I moved into the neighborhood, and I haven’t had a bad meal since coming.
The lunch/​dinner combos are great if you want to plump yourself on NY style chinese food, but recently I got the vegetable egg foo yung, and it was incredible. HUGE too, so you’ll have plenty for that late night drunken «dear god I just remembered I had egg foo yung in the fridge» moment.
The staff is incredibly nice, as I’ve become something of a regular for them.
I’ve had a variety of the meals, including the generals chicken, tai-​chin chicken (think garlicky version of generals), the eggrolls that are perfectly hot and crispy, the sweet/​sour pork (incredible), and the aforementioned Egg Foo Yung (heaven). I’d avoid the chive pancake, as it’s a little too doughy, which is true to the style, but not for my palette. Their crab rangoons are spot on delicious too.
So definitely give these guys a shot.

The portions are incredibly big… every time I order I know I’ll have lunch to bring to work the next day. I am pretty sure they are the cheapest priced and best-​tasting Chinese food in Sunnyside, so you are certainly getting a bang for your buck. Vegetable lo mein is tasteful, not too greasy, vegetable chow mein is just as good and they are happy to substitute dishes (general tso, sweet and sour or sesame chicken) with tofu or bean curd, which makes life better, and this place even more wonderful.

Golden Wok has become my go-​to place for Chinese food in Sunnyside. They’re quick and the food is delicious. It’s also incredibly cheap — $ 12 for two spring rolls, a quart of egg drop soup and quart of beef with veggies? Awesome sauce… and you get a free soda to go with it.

Great Won Ton soup, 2.75 for a large with huge Won Tons. Broth is standard. I will try some of my other favs here and get back to you.

It didn’t take my partner and I long to find our go-​to Chinese place when we moved to Sunnyside, and we have been loyal to Golden Wok ever since. The staff is so friendly and remembers our usual orders, even the little things like if we want soy sauce and forks.
I’ve only tried a handful of things even though I’ve ordered from this place every other week for two years, but everything I’ve had has been yummy. This includes the chicken and broccoli, sesame chicken, sweet and sour chicken, and shrimp with chinese broccoli (my fav). They give you large helpings and are well priced, so it’s hard to stay away.

I love Chinese food and when my favorite spot closed down three years ago, I was at a loss. I discovered Golden Wok and I couldn’t be happier.
The favorite dish that I always order is the Kung Pao Chicken. It’s spicy enough where there is a kick but you can ask them to make it hotter if you want it spicier. The steamed shrimp dumplings are also divine. They steam it enough where it is not rubbery.
I always order this place for delivery to the point where they recognize my voice and know the usual order that I place. They are incredibly friendly and they know how to treat their customers with respect.

I have tried other take out places but I stopped as soon as I found Golden Wok last year.
This is definitely the place I go when I am too tired or lazy to cook or just having a craving for some take out food. My favorite is the beef chow fun (wide noodle) and I have to literally slap myself from eating it. It’s actually one of the best chow fun I ever had. Their green jade is also good too and shredded pork in garlic sauce is hmmm… so good.
Trust me — I’ve been to enough places to know good Chinese take out food and I was super happy to find this one! Okay so I am ordering from them right now as I type this…
