Ah, Korean food is always an adventure, and at the urging of friends, we tried Shin Chon. Although I’ve had Shabu Shabu, this is my first time trying Korean BBQ. Not only was it a great experience, but it was delicious and fun! Though the menu had many different Korean dishes, after a couple of apps(dumplings and a scallion pancake), we told them to bring on the BBQ! We chose the beef short ribs, chicken and spicy pork. Sara, our waitperson, was the greatest. Not only was she fantastic at explaining the meal to us, she did all the cooking as well! As those persons familiar with Korean know, a number of side dishes are served with the meal. There were quite a few, ranging from cooked spinach, macaroni salad, kimchee and more. Overall, the BBQ was fantastic as well as the rest of the food. Also, I can’t stress enough how wonderful Sara and the rest of the staff were even as they were tending to a large party. The only reason Shin Chon doesn’t get five stars is the décor. SUCH a small point, I know, especially when food is the highlight. However, it really does add to the overall experience for me. Regardless, it’s definitely worth trying out if you’re in the area. I’m adding this one to my best of Sunnyside list. Enjoy!
