Ordered delivery on Unilocal via EAT24. Estimated time was 45 – 60 minutes and food arrived in 20. Vegetable chowfun was fantastic — spicy flat noodles with big, fresh veggies. Chicken with cashew was good. Ordered spicy szechuan chicken medium spicy and it was not spicy at all, but was good and saucy and had good veggies. Ordered sliced fish with red garlic sauce very spicy and was given shrimp which was not spicy at all and was way too sweet(and not good). Crab rangoon was beyond terrible — hands down worst I’ve ever had. They were chewy yet hard, clearly very old, and the«duck sauce» that came with them tasted like ketchup and was just awful. The chowfun was so good, I’d order that again and again, but I would discourage ordering anything fried as it seems the reviews complaining of reheated food seem accurate.

Tasty food. Not my favorite Chinese place but, I’d order again on occasion.

I ordered take-out from here last night on my way home from work. I usually come here about once a week. I would say, first off, that this place is definitely under-rated. Don’t let appearances fool you. First Wok is in a dated shopping center next to Safeway. It is, however, sparkling clean inside(the owners obviously have a great work ethic) and it would be a great place to have a sit-down lunch. However, I have only ordered take-out here and their take-out food is absolutely delicious!!! Let me start out by saying that First Wok has the BEST Chow Mein hands down in the entire bay area!!! Please understand that Chow Mein is sort of my personal litmus test by which I judge all Chinese restaurants. I know if they can do chow mein right then, the rest of the food has a high probability of being good too. Fortunately, This proved to be true with First Wok. I have tried many of their menu items and they have all been consistently delicious. I call ahead of time and when I arrive to pick up my food about 15 minutes later, I often times see the chef bringing my food out fresh from the wok giving it to the young, pleasant woman behind the counter to package it up for me. I am always amazed how fresh and hot the food is. I commute to Palo Alto and the food is still quite warm when I get home!

We ate here for the third time today — what a treat! The portions are generous — the food is really good — the hot and sour soup is delicious — the rice is moist and the chow mein is well flavored — all at affordable prices. My wife can only eat gluten free foods and First Wok accommodates her extremely well. Also the place is very clean and the staff are nice. This is now our ‘go to’ Chinese place in Sunnyvale!

This place is Panda Express on crack. I really enjoy the food here. They give you a lot. Food is really chip. You get 3 items and noodles /rice for under $ 10 bucks. It is really filling and the quality is good.

STAYAWAYFROMTHISPLACE!!! My Wife and I have given the place every chance possible. Ordering at different times of the day, ordering different dishes, etc. Theres usually one dish that’s OK, but the rest of the meal is old re-heated, tasteless, greasy, and smothered in some kind of sauce to hide its true condition. DONTTRUSTTHISFOOD !!! Just ordered there last night, the food came fast and was hot, but you could instantly tell it was old, re-heated, greasy, smothered in too much sauce garbage. I was starving after a long day and ate it anyway. At about 4am I woke up with the worst stomach pain. Massive headache, couldn’t stay off the throne and what came out of me smelled like death. I’ve been drinking PeptoBismal all day and replacing my body fluids. This was the ONLY meal I had eaten yesterday so I know it wasn’t from anything else. Just now, this evening as I post this, I’m starting to feel better. I will never ever eat here again. Enough is enough!!! I think this place should either clean up its act, or close its doors.

Food was delivered very fast. Rice tasted great. Shrimp was good. I also ordered beef with Broccoli, Mongolian beef, and a few other dishes. They were all very… meh. I’ve had better at Panda Express.

I frequently order take out here when I don’t want to cook and want something inexpensive. The taste is very good at such price range and the portion is relative big. The food is authentic Chinese food, not the American Chinese food that you will usually get in a such a small Chinese restaurant.

This place is such a little gem! I come here all the time whenever I’m too lazy to make dinner. Their express boxes are such a great deal. You can pick 2, 3 or 4 items where 1 must be fried rice or chow mein and it also comes with soup! I usually get the 3 item with egg flower soup and it’s only around $ 8.60. Not only is it cheap but the food is good and authentic and it is extremely convenient. My boyfriend and I have ordered delivery from them before too but for that you have to order $ 40 of food so I usually just make the short drive to pick it up.

Having been in the Sunnyvale area for the past 2 weeks on business, I decided to venture outside the standard fare of good old fashioned American(burgers, steaks etc) which led me to realise I was really craving Chinese. Being only minutes away from the First Wok, I thought«What could go wrong?». I casually sauntered over from my hotel room and took a look at the menu outside. They had some pictures on the window of their meals, which should have been my first warning, but I continued in, undeterred in my quest for chinese culinary glory. I was faced with a buffet style selection of a few dishes. I was confused at first, because simple things such as General Tso’s chicken were clearly mislabeled. The woman behind the counter explained that they were in the process of «Rearranging the food»…right then… At this point, there was no going back now. She pointed to the sign that said I could have 3 items from the selections in front of me for $ 9. Lucky me. I opted for the fried rice, which looked good. I then asked if they had any lemon chicken, to which she pointed at two scrawny pieces left in one of the serving vessels. I decided against my better judgement and went for the«Salt and pepper chicken». The moment she picked the chicken up, I realised how dry it looked. It had probably been sitting under the hot light of the buffet counter all day. I cautiously asked what the dish to the right was and was informed it was«honey garlic chicken». It looked like no honey garlic chicken I had ever seen before, but at that stage, I just wanted to get out. Now all this was bad enough, but what happened next really took the cake. I put my card in to pay for my meal, already underwhelmed but wondering if it was one of those ugly meals that looks really bad but tastes awesome. After paying, the lady behind the counter says to me «The food is cold, would you like me to microwave it». Stunned, I kind of shrugged and said she could do so. I got back to my hotel room(literally across the road) and my food was stone cold anyways. I took one bite of the salt and pepper chicken and it was an extremely unappetising colour(See the pictures if you don’t believe me). I had had enough at this stage, trashed my meal and wallowed in a pit of sadness and regret. Please heed my word and avoid this if you enjoy hot and delicious food.

Wow, what a nice little find for Chinese fast food! Located in the little Safeway shopping center, this particular restaurant really impressed me at lunchtime with the quality of the food in the express line. They offer a 4 item tray for less than $ 10, so sharing with my boyfriend made for a very cheap and delicious lunch. We ate on the vegetable fried rice, the vegetable rice noodles, the hot tofu, and the eggplant. The tofu was so deliciously prepared; I wish I knew how to make it that good! They kept it silky, but firm enough that it was easy to pick up with chopsticks. The seasoning was also perfect. The noodles and rice were light and good; not too oily, but, still, it’s Chinese fast food. I would definitely say this is the best Chinese express food I’ve had in the Bay Area thus far, and, for the price, it was pretty awesome! The reasons why I had to deduct a star: Only two vegetarian options were available for eating in the express line(the two I had). They definitely cook more dishes sans meat for their party trays that are vegetarian, so it really would’ve been nice to see more. Also, the soggy, microwaved eggplant was kind of weird, and inconsistent with the goodness of the rest of the things I ate. If I’m craving Chinese and I’m in Sunnyvale, I would head here again, for sure!

As a quick Chinese-American steam table express line, it’s pretty good, though Wok’s On Express down El Camino is a bit better. Has most of the same dishes. I usually get salt & pepper fish — one dish that’s better here than at the other place — and mongolian beef with the thin vegetable noodles.

I was at the Safeway right next door after going to the gym nearby and saw First Wok. I immediately thought, «Hey, a Chinese chicken salad sounds yummy.» Walking in it’s pretty typical and has a takeout type bar to select your items(looks pretty convenient for busy lunches). As I arrived, they were just opening, luckily I didn’t have to wait. .. So, I ordered my salad and the cashier woman was pretty nice. After about five minutes — my food was ready! So I headed home and I opened up my salad. It was HUGE and had a TON of chicken. But. .. the noodles seemed soft, the chicken was breaded and VERYDRY, and the sauce was very thick and sickly sweet. I just stopped eating about a ¼ way in(right now) to write this review because I just didn’t want to eat anymore. Quick and friendly service. Large portion. Pricey for quality. Poor food. Wouldn’t come again, but maybe it was my fault for ordering this particular item.

Well, I have to say, this place was super speedy for delivery; I was told 45 – 60 minutes and about 20 is all it took to get my food. I was really grateful for that, and the driver was very polite. The food itself, though, is a pretty consistent«eh». Since there was a $ 35 dollar minimum for delivery and as a first-time orderer, I splurged a little more than I would have normally. The fried pot stickers were not too bad, but also nothing special. The honey walnut prawns were also solidly«okay», again with nothing to really recommend them as spectacular. For the price of that dish, I expected more, and better. I also ordered steamed veggies with chicken, and when drained of the extra ‘water’ and paired with the«spicy» garlic sauce(it was not spicy at all), it was pretty good. Without the sauce though, the dish will be extremely bland so be prepared to add *something* if you do not take the sauce from the restaurant. The BBQ pork fried rice was also good, and both were generously sized containers. All in all, this place delivered food to me when I could not leave the house and did not have anything else on hand. I would be willing to order again before writing them off completely, when next I am in the South Bay.
