Needed my taco fill and this place totally did it. I came in hungry and they served me pretty quickly. Their horchata is great!

Pretty good burritos. My favorite is their shrimp burrito. The only thing is wait can be long during peak lunch hours. Free chips and salsa so that’s always a plus. My one tip for them is change their menu display on the wall to make it easier to read.

I have lunch at Ruby’s about once every other week. Everything that I have tried has been great. The pastor, chile verde and tinga are my favorites. The people there are nice. The only downside is that it can get super busy at lunch time.

The food was good, and fresh! The meat was cooked on the spot. There were so many people it was fun young and hip even on a Thursday night. However the food is probably better when you dine in.

I am sure glad I was in the mood for mexican. This is a must have experience. Many working class folks show up after work for a meal. You order at the casher. They have pictures of the oderable items behind you and to the right. They give you a number and yell it out. There is seating inside and out. The in door is like a galley. There is negros modello on on tap, a favorite. I am a sucker for crispy fried carnitas platter. This was not very crispy, but they provide plenty of tortillas. It come with rice, bean, lettuce and some tomatoes slices. The Verde salsa is awesome. They also provide tortilla chips and some pickled vegetables.

One of the best burritos in the Silicon Valley. Usually get the carnitas + lengua super burrito. Not greasy and has well balanced portions of meat, rice, and beans. Get there before 12pm on a weekday as there’s very limited indoor & outdoor seating.

I’ve been back here many times since my last review, so I’m posting an update. Fish Taco — Meh. I wasn’t a fan. The fish to slaw ratio was off, maybe because the cabbage pieces were so large. Chili Verde Super Burrito — Delicious! I love the chili verde, it’s the perfect amount of spice. The rice is delicious. Overall I would order this burrito all the time. Torta — I saw it one day when I was picking up some tacos and wanted to try it. It was just okay, not my cup of tea. Tamale de Elote — Yum! This is super delicious. Highly recommend trying it. Gordita — I ordered it with spicy chicken. The chicken was too watery so it made the gordita soggy which made me dislike it. I’ll have to try it again with a different meat choice. Hamburgesa Mexicana — The fries are super basic but the burger is actually good. It has a bunch of stuff in it and I like the addition of jalapeños. Obviously you can see that I frequently visit Ruby’s. In my opinion, it’s the only taqueria in the area that actually has authentic delicious Mexican food. Ruby’s doesn’t disappoint! Pro tip — Postmates delivers Ruby’s so you can have yummy delivery on demand. $ 10 off code: mklyh

Ruby’s is a solid neighborhood taqueria with some really tasty offerings. I was feeling gluttonous so I ordered the Nacho Fries w/Al Pastor. The Al Pastor was really tender and flavorful and the Nacho Fries were exactly what I’d imagined they’d be. Nacho Fries are the things drunk people dream of. If you have the«drunchies» in or around this area, definitely grab some of those babies at Ruby’s.

This place was a nice surprise for the Silicon Valley area. After deciding that ordering from Postmates might take too long for food we decided on driving to the Taqueria. Pretty much right off the freeway — as convenient as you can get. The place is pretty small and the whole menu isn’t up on the wall. I got the full menu pretty much from Unilocal and all of you foodies. Ordered the Vampiro tacos, steak, guac, melted cheese, and onions, cilantro. I got the rice and beans as an added side which was the best idea I had all day. The homemade rice was to die for. Literally could have only had the rice and been satisfied. My full meal added with delicious Horchata was only $ 8.49 A MUSTGO& A MUSTHAVESIDEOFRICE.

Never really write bad reviews but this place was not good. I got a really bad stomach ache from the enchiladas Michoacanas, barf. The chips were stale and the salsa was sour, the enchiladas were dry… Need I go on. I don’t know if I went on an off day but I will never go back.

The elote tamal con todo(with everything). Sweet corn tamales are my favorite and this one was so delicious! I liked the mild salsa with sour cream and cotija cheese. The sweet, tart, and salty combo totally worked! One end/corner of the tamal was a bit hard/dry, but the rest of it was perfectly moist and good. Loved it! Also loved the carne asada vampiro taco and all-you-can-eat chips & salsa bar. Small & casual spot next food to Mexican market & bakery. Taco shop vibe. :)

Being unfamiliar with the area I used Unilocal to find a close restaurant while on a business trip. Pulling up to the place it was not what we expected but we left happy as can be with the food and experience. I had a fajita platter that was delicious and my colleagues had tacos and burritos. They also serve Modello beer on tap and a few bottles. This is a local joint that kills it on food and service. They also have a great mix of hot sauces — the Mexican version of Firehouse subs. Thanks — we will be back if in the area!

This is a hidden gem. Decent prices and huge portion sizes. The wet burrito is my favorite. I take mine with red sauce. It is huge– and if I am not too hungry, I can manage both lunch and dinner with that! I like that they are open the entire day. I usually come here when I get stuck in meetings until all the other places are closed for the afternoon. Then I come here and enjoy the delicious food. The chips and salsa are decent. The area is a little sketchy. But not unsafe enough to not grab to meal.

Ruby’s was far from memorable and not nearly the strongest taqueria Sunnyvale has to offer. Four of us ordered two burritos mojados and two enchiladas plates with various combinations of meats and sauces. The al pastor was the worst I’ve ever had: scorched, tough, and flavorless. I’m not even sure it really qualifies as al pastor since I didn’t see a trompo; I expect that it was fried rather than spit-roasted. The carnitas were shredded very finely after its soak in lard, which made it juicy but not as crispy as most people expect carnitas to be. Okay flavor but not great. The carne asada was actually not bad. It had a smoky flavor which is unique but not overpowering. The size of the bites and texture was good. The refried beans were the best element of the night – just the right amount of lard with good texture and seasoning. Everything else was either disappointing or nothing special. Old, store-bought tortillas. Guacamole stretched so thin that it’s basically avocado sauce. Very dry Spanish-style rice. Sour cream rather than crema. You catching my drift? The majority of the meal was one disappointment after another. Service was very slow even though it wasn’t busy at all, but then again it was Halloween night. We also asked for chips and ordered guacamole to accompany them, but the chips never made it into the takeout bag.

Came here at 6pm and it was dark out… omg no lights in the parking lot! I had goosebumps walking to the tacqueria. It felt like I was walking into a back alley just to get to the restaurant. Anyways. I love the décor! Not the cleanest place but so much sports memorabilia all over the walls! you can tell that the owner really loves sports or put a heck of a lot of effort into the place. Based on the reviews, we ordered the vampiras tacos with meat Carne asada. I was already full before trying out these tacos but I can not help but to say that it blew my mind! –Meat to fat ratio is on point! Made the taco really hearty — the tortillas held up well! It didn’t break apart easily like other tacos I’ve had. — no burnt Carne asada! I cringe whenever tacqueria unintentionally burns your meat to a flavor-altering crisp — the avocado and other condiments that they already had in the taco is already balanced This place gets my thumbs up. Will eat again when I’m in the area and hopefully when it’s not dark out

This was exactly what I wanted. A dive Mexican taqueria and this place was spot on. As I waited for my order to be prepared I was greeted to the sounds of Mexico. Not from the internal speakers but from the truck that pulled up outside blaring music. Spot on for the ambiance. The place itself it fitted into a little end unit of a small strip and offers seating inside and a few large picnic tables on the side. I can see many times hitting this place up for a quick beer and bite to eat out on their patio. As long as the dude in the truck shows up to blast his tunes. The food… First this place is on the low end for price so you get your belly full for little money. I originally just wanted a burrito but I saw they had my weakness the fish taco. Ordered it up and and came back to the hotel in stuck in. First that fish tacos. Fried fish was the first no go for me. In fact if you removed the fried fish the taco would of been a great vegetarian taco. The fish, not only fried, was also on the burnt side and over breaded. For each their own with their fish tacos… But will not order again. The burrito… For all the struggle of the fish taco the super burrito nailed it. It made me forgive the lackluster burrito I had yesterday. Each bite was filled with not just rice and beans… But guac and chicken… Yeah. They actually out meat in their burrito. I tip my hat to you. All in all a great little dive restaurant. If your taking it to go be sure to stop next door at the grocery mart for your hot sauce and beer. And grab deserts at the bakery next to that.

My BF brought me here because we were going to watch a movie near by and he works here in the area. Him and his co-workers come here like once a week for lunch. It really wanted to take me here because he swore by their food. We came in and the place looked really authentic. They had a good menu with decent prices. I wanted to try something new so I went with the wet burrito. It was okay for me. I usually like shredded chicken but they only had spicy shredded chicken. I thought it’d be fine but I wasn’t really feeling it. Also, their red sauce on the burrito had a interesting taste to it. It was a very smokey taste. The chicken and sauce wasn’t that bad. I still liked it but didn’t love it. What made the burrito almost unenjoyable for me was the amount of onions it had in it. It had so much. They weren’t cooked onions or anything either just fresh onions. Maybe if they were cooked I would’ve enjoyed it more. Other than the onions it wouldn’t have been that bad. I like how they let you get your own salsa as you please at their salsa bar. They also let you pick up your own chips. Makes it easier when we want to refill for some more. For service, we waited a while for our food but we weren’t in any rush so it was okay. Overall, I’m giving 4 stars because it was good, I just ordered the wrong thing and I know if I ordered something different I would love it here.

Not delicious. I got a carne asada mini burrito, which is only $ 4.15 pre-tax. I literally ate this only two weeks ago but I can’t remember what it tasted like at all — all I remember is that it was absolutely uneventful in my mouth and it wasn’t worth finishing. The chips(which I ate instead of the burrito, because at least they had a nice crunch) had a funny flowery aftertaste reminiscent of soap… it was barely a whiff, not enough to notice with every bite but definitely recurring. As if someone with slightly soapy hands set up all the chip trays…

What a fab find! It is situated in a fairly remote residential area in Sunnyvale. The streets and the complex look a little shady though. We came in for an early lunch and found a parking spot right in front of this restaurant. And we beat the crowd as well. Because as time went by, there was a long line forming up to the counter. They have little hard copies of menu and a huge board with pictures of the items they carry. We ordered one chicken taco and one pollo asado and took a seat nearby. There is indoor and outdoor seating area. When your number is called, you go pick up your food. In the meantime, while waiting for your food, keep yourself busy by munching on their free nachos and salsas! The taco was big and delicious, with generous filling. The pollo asado was good. I’d really like to come back and try their other dishes, especially the enchiladas which looks very inviting!

Once you’re able to find this place and take a bite out of your burrito, it’s well worth it. I had a regular burrito with everything on it, and featuring the chorizo and carnitas. The nice cashier told me that the house salsa was really spicy, but it was well under what I was expecting. I had to use the green hot sauce to kick it up a notch. The chorizo was prepared in chunks, rather than ground, but I liked the difference in texture it gave. Also had the horchata, which was a little on the sweet side, but still worth every cent. Joey and I split a nachos and I’m still unsure of all the sauces and salsa that was on there. The chips looked homemade and they were nice and thick, but some of the chips were a shade burnt. I give this place 4 stars, because its difficult to locate and because the dining area is so narrow and parking is limited. I will definitely be back to try a plate.
