We stopped in this morning for a quick breakfast while on vacation from Tampa. We ordered 2 empanadas(1 chicken and 1 ground beef). They were ok. Then we ordered the American breakfast($ 8.99 we thought was a little pricy) which included 2 eggs, toast, bacon, coffee or tea. … The eggs were good, the bacon great but an issue when we asked for iced tea. She explained to us it was coffee or hot tea. Which the board does not say. So we were charged extra.

My biggest issue with this restaurant is that they charge gourmet prices for hot dog stand quality food. I have spent over $ 40(2 people) and still leave hungry. When I go down the street to la pequeña colombia i’ll eat double the food, pay half the price and they actually make you feel welcomed. Perhaps they have a very high lease rate and they pass on the cost to customers. I hope this family improves the quality of their food if they want to charge these jacked up prices that are not equivalent or comparable to other restaurants with similar dishes.

I arrived after a hard workout seeking something good. I asked for a grilled chicken breast, and I was left waiting for 40MINUTES! That’s sad considering it would have taken me 10 minutes to make it at home, and I was the only person waiting there. Overpriced, $ 9.37 for one small sized piece of chicken which barely filled me up. The worst of it, is when it did arrive, it was awful! Completely overcooked. When signing off on the touch pad the man attending me gave me attitude when he saw I left no tip. I do not recommend this place to anyone, ever. Everything from the empanadas to all the lunch entrees are EXTREMELY overpriced.

Me atendieron muy bien pero imagine una arepa de verdad no una del tosti-arepa por casi 7 $, pero estaba rica

I have to agree with most of the other Unilocalers on this restaurant. The food is good when its fresh, but its not always. Do not expect to leave with pocket change. Its like ur buying diamonds in this very small place. Worst of all is the service. I have been overcharged and charged different prices(depending on which family member rings me up) several times. Which is why i stopped burning my money there. They are very rude. They never smile or say please or thank you. The worst staff member is the older blonde lady that i belebelieve Is the mother. Im not fluent in spanish and she made it very clear that she didn’t like that. She always overcharged me and always threw my food at me. Shes ignored me several times. And i realized how rude she was when i would show up and she would roll her eyes and say … Yes?.. I totally dont go there anymore.

Food is alright The guy that is in the cashier is the same that serve you and doesn’t no how to give an smile or talk to people and was nasty rude to the lady from the kitchen and to someone that is choosing they place instead of other places in the area I found this to be mess up also they charge you a service charge. First time I came to this place was like 4 years ago and I decided not to come back ever again because a worker from this place disrespect my wife right on my face and we decided not to come to this place where they have perverts working behind the counter and now 4 years later we stop by to get some TO-GO and once again disappointed. By the way the 2 stars are only for the food.

The food was actually OK but the service was TERRIBLE! I walked in and said good morning and none of the people from the restaurant even looked at me. I asked about the food and they barely responded. Then I went to pay and try to have a conversation with the lady and she just asked me to pay the bill on a tablet that FORCES you to leave a tip. For that reason, I WILLNEVERCOMEBACK! If you’re getting into the restaurant business, you better like people because guess who will come to eat at your place?!?

While the coffee they serve is good, the empanada and arepa I had were stale. I might give it a second chance but for now there are better options close by.

This Venezuelan restaurant is the worst of all Venezuelan restaurants in South Florida, here is why… The food is very poor in quality, the meat, doesn’t have any flavor, the arepas dough is hard, the empanadas are dry and on top of that it is extremely EXPENSIVE. Another interesting aspect was that at the end of our meals we ask for the total and the owner of the place didn’t give us the total, we ask again and he didn’t respond, he came to the table and presented a receipt for $ 43.76 and the bill was not displayed. We had 4 empanadas, 2 areas, 4 Susies and 1 Soda. They charged us $ 43.76 for something that we could have gotten in Doral, Miami Beach or any other Venezuelan Restaurant in South Florida and even Orlando for half the price and the food quality would have been better. I WILLNEVERGOBACKTOTHISPLACE. NEVERAGAIN!

This is my favorite neighborhood spot! Quiet, owners are extremely friendly and they have very good homemade Venezuelan food, I can’t understand why people think it’s expensive as most dishes are under $ 10.00! I love their coffee. It”s right around the corner from me off of Weston Rd. and St. Rd. 84

I love coming here. The owner and staff are absolutely friendly and make the best with the space they have. Pros: The cachapas are delicious, get them with nata and queso rallado on top(sierra nevada) and you can’t go wrong. The tequeños are some of the best, as well as the chicha with cinnamon and condensed milk. Cons: The food is pricey and the amount of food you get, compared to other places fails in comparison. All the other dishes that I have tried on the menu are tasty, just not abundant. For example, Arepa Reina Pepiada, Pabellon Criollo and Asado negro and their daily soups. Overall I will keep coming back to this place because the staff makes you feel like part of the family. I just won’t be going if I want huge servings.

the site has a lot of time, I’ve gone several times trying to see if it improves but definitely has deteriorated the quality of food and prices go up, definitely a very expensive for what they offer, should be compared with other types of restaurants that are priced competitive. chairs and tables are somewhat damaged. the manager always discussed with employees in front of customers.

It’s ok for quick Venezuelan dishes like arepa, empanadas, cachapas. Ok prices. Uncomfortable seating. I come here when I visit my parent and my mom hasn’t cooked breakfast, otherwise, ciao!

This Venezuelan restaurant is right next to my house in Sunrise, FL. Its been there for the past 5 years and this past weekend(March 2010) was the first time I tried it. Most people that I know had tried the restaurant, but their experience hasn’t been the best. I finally decided to take my wife for lunch on a Saturday to see how the food was. I was not impress with the quality of the food neither its price. I got a «cachapa», a passion fruit juice and a «pirulin» box and my wife got an «arepa» and an oraje juice, our total bill was $ 35.00 and they still asked me for a tip!!! The menu doesn’t have a great variety and the quality is not the best. I guess I was expecting something better like the Bread Shop in Fort Lauderdale or Date Aqui Pana in Miami. I really hope they improve the quality and prices soon. It wont be until next time I see another review from Café Canela that I would give them a second chance…

I came to this Venezuelan restaurant serving traditional foods because it was supposed to be the best in Broward. But this place maybe gets 3.5 stars for Broward County, but 2.5 if it was in Miami, even though there’s really only two reasons why: — Kinda pricey for what you get — Not a large menu(definitely pales in comparison with Caballo Viejo in Miami although the tequenos here are better) — Some things are just not available(more than half of the stuff in the dessert menu is missing — but they blame it on the lady who has not been consistent in bringing the desserts for the restaurant to sell) Otherwise, here are the pluses: — Traditional Venezuelan food outside of Miami(and it’s pretty tasty — had the asado negro, tequenos, empanadas and coffee) — Friendly and bilingual staff — Venezuelan dessert Marquesa is offered here — not too common! But, I wasn’t able to try it because it wasn’t in stock — Plenty of parking
