Hmm, food was good, not great. In my opinion. Food was overpriced, and I never complain about prices. Def NOT the place you want to go to if you’re trying to catch up with friends. I could barely hear anyone at the table cause they had a live. Loud(way too loud) band playing.

They should have listened to Jon Taffer. Wine bar with no wine list? Waitress worked really hard. Over cooked hamburger.

I was underwhelmed with this place. The Groupon made it interesting, and the food was middle-of-the-road at best. The Fries were greasy but good tasting. I was very surprised on the pricing of the beer. At 7 – 10 bucks a beer, is high for what they have on tap. Seems they have 21 beers on tap, or 24 according to other signs, or 23 on another… how many beers? The bartender suggested a seasonal beer, which he said was new and great. I know enough about beers to know it was from Nov, which means he was pushing an older beer and not a new fresh one. Thanks to the Groupon I tried this place, but probably won’t be back here. ITs too much money for what you get, and the food is average.

This is the reason we use Unilocal! We were looking to try something different that was nearby. some of the recent reviews sounded good so we decided to give it a go and we were pleasantly surprised!!! Everything we had was scrumptious! The pastrami is what people go for so my wife tried it and the clam chowder. Both were delicious. It was hard to choose because so many things sounded great but I settled on the bratwurst when our server mentioned the housemade pretzel buns. It was fantastic and something you’re not going to find in many places. The garlic fries were also out of this world. Live music tonight as well. Tyler, the manager, was wonderful as well. He was pleasant to chat with and proud of the establishment but in a humble, down to earth sort of way. We will go back again and again. So many dishes and wines we want to try.

What a FANTASTIC spot! I had the Pastrami which was SO delicious! The manager, Tyler, was awesome and made sure everyone in the room had a good time. Great Craft Beers and atmosphere. Highly recommended!

A wine bar without a wine list? Lots of beer and a beer menu but no wine list. That was the start of our visit after Brix was«Rescued» as Pacific Coast Wine Bar. I would have thought that John Taffer would have left a wine list… oh well. The inside renovation was nice from my memory of our last visit. My wife and a did have wine but was unsure of the winery and vintage. I asked for a Sangiovese and my wife a Pinot Noir. They did not have any Sangiovese in the house but did offer a red wine that was pretty good. We only ordered their Fresh Potato Chips as an accompaniment to our wine. The chips were indeed hot and fresh out of the frier and served with a flavorful dip on the side. We could not really see the renovation as there was a band playing. Will need to stop in again to be able to take it all in. Looking forward to seeing the Rescue episode.

Saw that our favorite Brix had been«rescued» and decided to check it out. We didn’t really have issues with the old place and were curious of what changes were made. New name, new paint and furniture but the new window dressing seems to have displaced the great service we experienced before. We had to sit ourselves and no server acknowledged us. Only 2 waiters and while not very busy they still could not keep up. After 15 minutes we got up and walked out. So disappointed! Won’t be coming back. Will miss our«furgetaboutit pastrami»

Horrible service. Bar rescue just recently came in and renamed the place Pacific Coast Winery. We walked in and stood there while waiter or host did not even acknowledge us. Finally I asked if we had to seat ourselves and he said sit wherever. Sat a table for 10 minutes before we got one menu. We got up and left. Obviously, they did not get rescued. Jon Taffer probably decided it wasn’t worth it. Would never go back. Ugh!!!

Brian and Sam gave me orgasm that’s all I have to say. I’ve been hearing about BRIX’S pastrami forever and finally decided to come. My 2nd time here and although first time I just had wine because we had already eaten but this place is da bomb. Very knowledgeable staff on wine and beer. The owner is from NYC and makes their own pastrami which is by far the best pastrami in SoCal! BRIANANDSAMAREAWESOMEBARTENDERS. AFTERALL I DONTGETMANYORGASMSFROMFOODLOL!

The food is specific to a New York Deli,(I believe the owners might be from that area) and it’s very, very good. We got the Fuhgeddaboudit sandwich of course, and the Shiksa with gaaahlick fries and they all were awesome! I believe that there are mostly locals here, everyone seemed to know their way around the indoors part and the outdoors side(that you have to walk out the restaurant to get there) and the upstairs indoors area that you can only get from outdoors! I know! The whole place is so weird and I would say outdated, but the service is so warm and nice and the food too delicious for their neighbors to not come here all the time. I’ll stop by if around for a quick sandwich to go next time.

Stopped by for lunch for the very first time! I ordered the Cobb Sandwich! Delicious &SO flavorful! The salad my husband had was also just as great. Would definitely recommend this place! The waitress was also very friendly and the service was fast! Nothing but good things to say about this place.

This was my first time here and I was glad I stopped by. The food was good and they had a few beers on tap. The waitress was good about making suggestions based on what I wanted. They are pretty well versed in what they are serving which is better then most places. The only thing was the wait. It was not very busy and we were waiting a while. At least give some water if it is going to be more than five minutes before you can stop and give us a «hi».

The Fuhgeddaboudit sandwich, unlike the name suggests, will leave you questioning how it’s possible for pastrami to taste so good. On toasted rye bread with cole slaw, and swiss cheese(did I mention I typically hate cole slaw), this sandwich was very flavorful! Now this is where it gets tricky, the sandwich named«A number One» Brix needs to swap names with and change it to the fuhgeddaboudit! I found that«A number One» was dry and unappealing, and needs to be forgot about! When having lunch or dinner with a friend, I suggest getting the grilled cheese and the Fuhgeddaboudit and splitting the 2 sandwiches. Also, don’t go to a place famed for pastrami and order a chicken sandwich. I already made that mistake for you! Although«The Shiksa» was a great, it made me realize how much more awesome the pastrami tasted over anything else here! If you’re a beer or wine fan, they have an amazing assortment of wines and craft beers on draft and bottle. They also have happy hour during the week, and live music on the weekends. The service was decent, friendly, and otherwise unremarkable. Check in for free pretzel bread! They also have a new location on 2nd street in Long Beach!

This seems like a very low-key type of wine bar where people can come in and get a nice glass of wine, cold pint of beer, and great food. The patrons didn’t seem like your typical wine snobs and the employees were pretty cool. It didn’t hurt that the guys that work there are pretty handsome;) Anyway, we went on a Saturday afternoon and there was a live band. The band kept the party rollin’, but the acoustics weren’t that great. My friend and I just wanted to catch up over some wine and we really couldn’t do that without screaming at each other. The good thing was that the band played on one side(I guess the wine side) of the building, so we just grabbed our glasses and headed to the other side(the beer side?). Perfect! We didn’t order food, but everything that came out looked and smelled delicious. I can say the only thing I really didn’t like about Brix was a lack of wine lists. I just feel like if you’re a wine bar, you probably should have a wine list where I can see the type, location, price, and maybe some notes like, «spicy blah blah blah». The server was good in that I told her I wanted something light and she made a recommendation that was ok. I just would have preferred to have something to look at. This is a cool place to come if you’re local to the area or at the beach and want somewhere to go for a nice glass of wine.

Wine Bar on one side, beer on the other side, with a clever and tasty menu available for both. The employees here are really friendly and really know their stuff. In addition to a great variety of drinks, they have a super awesome veggie burger! Limited parking in the lot, street parking available too.

Went here last night for some vino before dinner down the street at Roman Cucina. As others have mentioned, there is not a ton of parking in their actual lot, however behind the building there are plenty of spots. The building is broken into two sides, the right side is the deli and beer bar. The left is the wine bar(although a door does connect them inside). It was a Thursday night around 7pm and the band was just setting up. Most of the small tables were already taken so we got seats up at the empty counter bar. We were quickly and cheerfully greeted by one of the servers. They do not have an actual wine list, the servers memorize all the different varietals and bottles(impressive). This obviously makes for a more personal/intimate experience which I liked. We said what we thought we wanted, she then brought out three different bottles for us to taste. We settled on a red blend. Bottles come at retail pricing, so it was only $ 24. Since we were having dinner elsewhere, we didn’t eat. .. but it was hard not to. Something was delivered around us that smelled amazing(so much so, the lead singer had to say something about it mid-song). But now onto the band.. . this is where they lost me. It was not what I would picture in a wine bar. They were a loud rock band, that had microphones and amplifiers in a very small space. I had to shout to my friend over the music. I was hoping for something a bit more soothing or romantic, being that it is in fact a wine bar. This band would’ve been better suited for the beer bar next door. The menu has a range of items from sandwiches, burgers, pizzas and salads. Owner is originally from NY, so you’ll see the names for many items are in Yiddish, keeping the vibe fun at this wine bar. I will be back to grab some eats, maybe calling ahead to see what type of band is playing. .. ?

One of my favorite places in OC and LA. Rick is amazing as a host — he makes you feel like family. I smile just thinking of the guy. The staff is helpful and will put together a nice beer flight for you, when you give them something to work with as far as your likes and dislikes. Every time I kayak — I reward myself with a beer flight at The Brix. OR if I am just passing by — again rewarded with a beer flight. Great wines, AMAZING food. Not cheap — but WORTHIT. Fuhgettaboutit is the best pastrami sandwhich ever. Get that, and have the pastrami skins and a beer flight. That is perfection. Rick is choosey about his entertainmnet — and it’s all good. Go on any night, and you will have fun. Check the website for current specials and live entertainment. I bring out of town guests here, and it is a sure fire hit. It is a great place to just chill and visit with whomever wanders in. As a couple, this is one of our spots.
