I love this place. I eat here at least twice a week, and they have the best jalapeño poppers and garlic edemame. Friendly waitresses make you feel welcomed, if it was up to me I would be here everyday yummy.

My friend took me here for my bday yesterday and Oh-Em-Gee. this place is so delicious! This is the first time I’ve went there, usually I have to drive to T.O. to my favorite place, but this one is just around the corner from my place. The place is enough to sit maybe 40 – 50 people, they have cute two seaters, if you’re looking for a romantic place place to get some grub, and also have a sushi bar. Definitely giving it many thumbs up!

I enjoy coming here when I visit my friends out in Sylmar. The food is delicious and fairly priced. The waitresses are very friendly and helpful. They move very quickly in taking your order and frequently ask if everything is okay and if anything else is needed, which I appreciate. I plan on visiting Rok N’ Sushi again soon!

I have eaten here several times before and it’s always been good. But today we went to celebrate our anniversary during lunch and the food wasn’t very good. I got the tiger roll, volcano roll and my husband got the salmon roll. The food was very mediocre I didn’t even want to finish my rolls. And I love sushi, I never leave left overs! We also order 2 miso soups which were $ 9 just for the soup! Most people give free miso with purchase of lunch. I noticed the signs that indicated that all the prices had been raised. Which I didn’t mind, but after being disappointed in the food it was even more disappointing to be paying more for bad food. For 3 rolls and 2 soups and one Ice tea we paid $ 60.00. Over all I think today really killed it for me, I probably won’t be going back. On the bright side, the staff were very nice and friendly.

After going to another local sushi place in Sylmar, we stumbled across this jem. And this is the only place we get our sushi fix now. The service is very fast and friendly. You get greeted as soon as you step foot inside. Waitresses are very attentive and always checking if you need anything. The best part is their prices. They are very affordable.

At arrival we entered and noticed the sushi bar side was completely empty on a Friday evening(first sign) we looked around and hoped to be acknowledged and be seated since there were several tables open. The waitresses that were working that day waited till we walked to the back sat ourselves. At that point they both said. «Welcome please sit anywhere you like» we were practically already seated by then(second sign) At the time they came to take our order I asked for a Saporo, not realizing that they do not sell beer here and I was told«sorry we don’t sell alcohol»(third sign) Moments later the group next to us is hand delivered 4 margaritas by one of the other waitresses. It appears she went next door to Carusos to get them drinks. I asked the waitress how come I wasn’t offered this option and she says«well we know the customers, they come here regularly» and walks away. At no point did she offer to get me a drink. After our mediocre sushi the waitress asked how every thing was and I said«ok» She then says«next time if you want a beer you can go to Carusos and we will take the sushi to you, that way you can have a drink with your food» Are you effen kidding me!!! Next time I will just go eat somewhere else! I haven’t even gotten to the good part yet, but I will keep it short. I ordered the 911 roll and the shrimp tempura crunch roll which had the end piece of the tempura uncooked as it was Still doughy. BADNIGHTOUT!

Been here a couple of times even before I began Unilocaling and I must say this last time was the best experience my wife and I have had ever had here. We went all you can eat and the rolls were fresh and properly constructed for the most part(one roll was to include Ono as one of the fish, but snapper was substituted without a word. I guess they thought we were rookies an wouldn’t notice the absence of my favorite fish in the world?) Our sushi chef at the bar was someone I had not seen previously and maybe that was why the sushi was actually pretty good and not just for Sylmar. We shared 6 different rolls and enjoyed them all, I even got a side of tempura that was soggy but other than that I could not find much to complain about when it came to the food. My biggest complaint was the different AYCE menu, I had to keep researching the names on the AYCE to the regular menu and vice versa in order to get what I wanted. I was very disappointed to see some of my favorite rolls not an option on the AYCE menu and this made dinner very confusing and slow. If they keep up the good work we will definitely be back when we need a sushi fix close to home, Aloha

Love this place! Fish so fresh, wait staff is good, but can deteriorate when it gets too busy. Friendliest sushi chefs that make your rolls stand up and demand attention. I recommend the Vegas and Caterpillar roll for freshwater eel lovers. Finish off your meal with mochi ice cream… choose any 3 flavors. Be sure to get vanilla or green tea – it’s got that authentic green tea taste. Yummy!

Atrocious. Over priced, I mean super over priced! Had a crunch roll and tempura, it was so oily and disappointing. The food lacks flavor, and the portions are ridiculous. Do yourself a favor and don’t even try it. The ambiance is incredibly pretentious, not welcoming at all.

Back again, and I took my friend who likes sushi places to have a late lunch early dinner. The fact that they are open all day(not closed at 3 and reopened at 5 p.m. like some places), impressed him. We ordered the garlic edamame for starters and it was so garlicy tasty!!! We both love garlic. Then, we shared the baked mussels, which to my surprise, were really good! The spicy mayo on them was just right. We shared the House roll and Bibcyo roll which I asked the chef to give me plain tuna instead of spicy tuna and he gladly did. We finished our meal off with the vanilla tempura ice cream. Everything was delicious, the chefs were friendly and the servers were attentive and smiling. They always thank us for coming. I don’t know why this place has bad reviews. I will definitely be back to try new rolls~

It’s unfortunate to say this place was terrible! Tiny hole in the wall that is not worth it! Service was fine, but the food was horrid! We ordered the garlic edamame and it was so disgusting! Bitter, sour with the funkiest taste! I ordered a hand salmon roll which I regretted right away. The sea weed was so stale and hard to swallow! I even spit some of it out! So I traded that for a good ol California roll that was just as bad. They served it with warm rice! I’ve never had sushi with warm rice!!! Wtf! My friends didn’t enjoy their rolls either. No surprise! And they charge extra for any type of sauce! What a joke! Arrogant manager walking around like he’s running the best restaurant in town. Haaaaa! Never coming back and definitely never recommending this place!

NO bueno BADMANAGEMENT Try to avoid this PLACE moved my business to San Fernando area in 2015 and found this place online ordered more then 50 times and have the receipts to prove it close to $ 4000.00 spent in one year on business meetings and I sent my partner to pick up $ 60.00 worthy of sushi and they tried to sell us the hot sauce for a $ 1.00 dollar lol not even the ghetto Chinese place sales it for a dollar. Long story short had a conversation with the manager and she said the owner was cheap and customers were wasting the sauce. Not a good way to start 2016 by loosing for sure one of there top customers. So please go there if you what to get charged for hot sauce next thing you will be charged for ginger and wasabi.

My wife and I use to come here on a regular basis but not anymore as of today. We took great pride in Sylmar’s own sushi restaurant and wanted to support it and the owner. We took our son and 12 year old daughter to have an enjoyable dinner on New Year’s Day and my wife and I wanted to partake in the all-you-can-eat sushi while my son and daughter wanted to eat off of the menu. We were told that everybody at the table had to order the All-you-can-eat or no one could partake. I asked that me son and daughter be seated at an empty table next to ours so that we didn’t technically violate their rules and we could converse as a family. We were told that the chief had to keep an eye on my son and daughter(I guess so that we couldn’t pass food to them) so they had to sit on the other side of the restaurant. REALLY? Well my son and daughter ordered several rolls off of the menu and my wife and I had the All-you-can-eat menu. We tried to communicate with our son and daughter but it was really odd yelling across the restaurant. Let me just say that the sushi chefs and the kitchen help were wonderful and very helpful in taking our orders but the rude waitress has to go. She was rude to us during the entire meal did’t come around frequently to ask if we wanted anything else(we were paying a stiff price for all you can eat) and once more took one of my son’s orders and delivered it to another table where they devoured it in a minute. Once more she had the nerve to tell my wife that our 12 year old daughter looked like a thirty year old and that my wife was rude to her. Confronting the customers? Not the way to win over customers. Won’t be going back there again anytime soon. As convenient as it was there are other choices for Sushi in the area and they are more than willing to have our business. It’s too bad the owner probably won’t be making any changes soon to the operations and eating polices of this restaurant but that’s certainly his prerogative. And it’s my personal prerogative not to eat there anymore.

This is totally unheard-of… ½ price sushi during happy hour BUT you only get half the sushi!!! So you pay half but only get half. So do the math. Where is the savings and how does this make any sense? ? Lmao. For example if you order salmon sushi you only get ONEPIECE!

This a review for Rok N’ Sushi in Sylmar. I came in about five minutes until 3 and saw that there was a lunch special that ran until 3. I asked the server if I could get the special and she told me the lunch special is over at 3. I pointed it out that It’s not 3 and I still have time. She said that she would, except her manager would get mad at her. So I asked what time do they stop offering the special. She paused for a bit and said they stop offering it at 2:40pm. Now, WHY would you advertise a lunch special that runs until 3, and stop offering it 20 minutes prior? That is one of the major gripes that I have with this place. For the value, the sushi was mediocre. I’ve been to many other sushi establishments and the first thing that I noticed about my sushi was that the ratio of fish to rice was off(too much rice to fish). In addition, the way that the nori was cut was sloppily done and appeared to be torn/ripped(minor, but noticeable). The teriyaki beef was decent, too much on the teriyaki flavor(way too salty), but I guess that was the reason for the huge pile of rice that came with this dish. If you’re hungry for sushi and there are no other places nearby, then it’s convenient. If you’re going for the lunch special, make sure you come in before 240pm, or else they will not offer or honor that deal.

I can’t believe my favorite sushi place is in Sylmar! Always large portions of fish. Well plated, creative and will make anything you want. Staff is extremely helpful and friendly. ½ price sushi during happy hour. My daughter loves the garlic edamame. We have never been disappointed !

I had the best Salmon Skin Salad… everything was fresh best of all the Salmon Skin was crispy and plentiful . One drawback don’t know if the blonde waitress forgot, we never got ginger or wasabi at our table… It’s kinda of a must when eating sushi. But our waitress never came back in fact she left and another(darkhaired) waitress took over. She was very attentive.

This place is exactly what you’d expect in terms of its location and quality of food. Came here for a quick lunch and decided on the 405 roll, the el pancho roll, and the baked salmon roll. The 405 roll was tasty; it was basically a fried Philly roll(tempura style) with a good helping of cream cheese. The pancho roll was so-so. An albacore avocado & jalapeño roll topped with French fried onions sounded good on paper, but fell short in terms of flavor and freshness of the fish. Also, the jalapeños were not seeded, which led to a nice coughing spree. The baked salmon roll was a complete fail. The salmon was definitely not fresh and somehow made the entire roll soggy-which was extremely unappetizing. I had no choice but to let the waitress know we did not like the roll. We were offered another roll in place, but decided against it. The rolls were also cut super large, which made them somewhat difficult to eat. The service was also a bit off. It seemed that both waitresses and chefs were in process of training, because no one really knew what they were doing. Parking is available in front of the structure, which is typically not full. The restaurant was also a bit dark and didn’t really suit the environment. Based on my experience, I wouldn’t recommend this place as a sufficient place to satisfy your sushi craving!
