Love, love, love the catfish on Wednesday nights! I would have given 5 stars, but the place is just so dusty. The ceiling fans and light fixtures are caked with dust and it’s also all over the ceiling beams. Every time I go, I check to see if someone has dusted, but nope. So if you’re not a clean freak, you will really enjoy the food.

The place is very good overall. We were going this city and stopped for a lunch. I had loaded potato soup and pulled pork with coleslaw. My husband had grilled chicken and cup of chilly.

Now there’s another another reason to rush back to WCU! Got to say without a doubt the best restaurant there. Huge fresh tasty cheeseburger– steak fries and I thought chili was pretty much chili– not so! Delish!!!

Well, I have mixed emotions about this place. My wife had the BBQ sandwich and had the BBQ platter. The fries were awesome. Fresh and hot. The slaw was decent, not amazing but not bad either. The BBQ was tender but a little on the fatty side. The hush puppies I got with my meal were awful. They were cooked to death and chewy. My wife’s BBQ sandwich was way over sauced. A little sauce goes along way on BBQ and her sandwich was swimming in it. The waitress was freindly with us and attentive but it seemed like none of the waitress wanted to be around each other. They often had scowls on their faces and seemed to have attitude issues. We were sitting in the booths across from the bar and the kitchen was behind the bar. The kitchen staff was very loud and the use of foul language was present. Now I’m a mechanic and this does not bother me but other patrons may not appreciate that while trying to have a meal. Overall, not a terrible experience but I would look to other resturants before I would return here.

Great place to eat. Prices are very reasonable. The staff is courteous and quick to satisfy your needs. The owner is very friendly and always keeps customers happy. The only downside is that they can overcook some menu items but they never completely burn anything. The specials are always terrific and I highly recommend ordering whatever special they have because you won’t regret it.

This restaurant is a family favorite! We visit every time we are in town. Try the works burger — it will not disappoint! They have fresh cobbler every day and it’s delicious. The people that work here are warm and friendly. A perfect place!

Oh my soul! The Thelma Lou chicken sandwich, makes you want to smack someone it’s so dog gone good. The most moist chicken I’ve ever had and great flavor. This is my third time here and haven’t been disappointed yet. The servers are great on top of everything. Can’t wait to come back next time I’m in town.

Was on our way to Maggie Valley from Uncle Bill’s Flea Market to eat at Salty Dogs, but wanted to check out Silva. Nice little town but being Sunday, not much open. Drove by Bogart and the parking lot was jammed and I do remember seeing this place on Unilocal with good reviews so we stopped. There was a bit of a wait for a table but we sat at the bar with a beer. The place is not fancily decorated, mostly pictures of the sports teams at WNCU, which is nearby. But I don’t rate restaurants by decorations. If the food is good, I don’t care if the table is a pickle barrel with a piece of plywood over it and I have to sit on stools. They start you out with a small warmed pumpernickel bread loaf. We started out with the shrimp and crab dip that comes with Tortilla chips. I scooped some on the chip and I wasn’t impressed, very soupy and no chunks of seafood. Ahh, but wait! I quickly figured to stir it from bottom, don’t use the chip, just right out of bowl and I came away with very tasty crab and shrimp bits. I ordered the fried oyster dinner that comes with very good hushpuppies(2) and creamy cole slaw. Also comes with 1 side and I had the sweet potato fries. My wife had the crabcakes, which were very tasty. Very fresh and not overly breaded. didn’t much care for the fries, tasted like frozen and they didn’t come with any sauce(maybe a honey mustard or ranch sauce). Service was decent and not bad even though it was busy, even when we left there were people still waiting. The food was a little slow out of the kitchen, but again I will account that to being non-stop busy. They have a location in Waynesville I’ll like to try.

My husband and I went there for dinner after moving our son into his dorm at WCU. Short wait for a table and had a great waitress! Very prompt, efficient and had lots of suggestions for us. Started off w/two nice house salads and a loaf of warm bread. Husband got the smothered grilled chicken w/mashed potatoes and absolutely loved it. I had the ½ rack of pork ribs w/baked beans. Baked beans were delicious. But, I have to say they have the best ribs I’ve ever! tasted and I’ve tasted lots of them. Very tender, meaty(I could only finish ½ of the ½) and I would say one of the best western Carolina sauces I’ve ever had, just the right amount of heat n sweet. I’ve always been more of a fan of eastern Carolina bbq, but after this meal… it’s about 50⁄50.:) Will definitely go there the next time we’re in Sylva!

Good lunch place. Wed special is catfish w/hush puppies and a side(I chose Mac n cheese at the server’s recommendation & was not disappointed) for $ 6.99. The waitress was delightful as well as efficient; just the right amount of chatty and always a big smile. Good food, reasonable prices, full of locals — always a good sign. Gotta stop here again next time I’m in Sylva.

Stopped here for lunch after a visit to WCU. The food was good and prices were okay. We tried the fried Oreo for dessert! Was awesome! Glad we can’t get those at home. Only suggestion would be to update the inside. It could use a little work.

I live in sylva and have eaten here several times. Bogarts has good food and decent prices. The majority of the wait staff do a great job. Most all items on the menu are good. The smothered chicken is a solid choice. I would recommend the fried oreo’s for desert(only in the south).

A solid Sunday lunch. I got a club sandwich which was just so-so(then again, how can a club sandwich be amazing). Two others in our group got the pot roast special which was great. A ton of food for a decent price.

Got the works burger with«baked? Beans». Burger was nothing special. Bun was stale and chili was watery with loads of onions. Baked beans were out of a can with onions added and«warmed slightly» not hot enough to completely cook the onions. Bright spot was the wait staff. Excellent service!

You know, it’s hard to screw up a Caesar salad– but these guys did it flawlessly. Waynesville location is way better. Will not come to Sylva location ever again!

As someone who is trying to be a healthy eater this might not be the right place. My salad had way too much dressing on it and was very iceberg based. My son enjoyed his burger but couldn’t finish it but said it wasn’t the best he’s had. Atmosphere was nice. I would say the best part of the dinner was our server — a young lady who had graduated from WCU and was very personable.

I enjoyed the chicken philly sandwich and sweet potato fries. My whole family enjoyed their entrees. The club was very good. They make their own salad dressings which are tasty. I had the homemade ranch. Yum. Delicious soft pumpernickel bread was also served before dinner with soft butter. Our waiter, Michael, provided our dinner entertainment. He is a riot and is as friendly as they come.

Sometimes I unreasonbly hold a grudge on a restaurant and don’t go back for a while. In the case of Bogart’s I should have gone back sooner than I did. First and only other time I ate there was a wkend night in 2007 and it was mediocre. It took me till 2013 to go back(not that it was that bad but there are many other good food options in and around Sylva it was like«why bother?») So last week I was in town at lunch time and thought I’d give it a try. After all, a lot can happen in six years! Upshot: I had a fine country lunch and I have learned to give restaurants a second chance and not wait so long.
