Today I treated myself to a cup of coffee at Dunkin Donuts on Ferrell Rd. It was the worse cup of coffee I ever(truly) ever had. On my way back from the gym I revisited the store and wanted to talk to the owner. The employees didn’t know who the owner was. So, I asked for the manager and learned that there was no manager present either. The store looked dirty, poorly stocked and the employee who had purred the coffee insisted that someone had to drink the leftover coffee and he insisted that it is all the same. Though the shift leader returned my money, she explained that they were short on staff, and that is why the store is dirty. The message I got was«Never to purchase anything at Dunkin Donuts». A great disappointment!!!

This is a relatively new DD location and it has immediately made itself undistinguished from other DD locations. In general, I consider Dunkin to be nothing more than a purveyor of fast food. Nothing is any longer made in house as all products are baked in a central factory style baking facility, delivered to Dunkin locations in a frozen state(including pre-cooked eggs, sausage and bacon) and either defrosted or heated to make the products ready for serving to the public. This is an observation of DD corporate and not a swipe at the individual franchiser. WIth uniformity and blandness built in to their baked products, the distinction between DD locations is largely based on the service provided by employees, preparation of beverages and cleanliness of the facilities. I like DD because it is unpretentious and generally comfortable. This location meets these criteria. They seem to be rather busy and doing a good volume of business, particularly via their drive in window. The inside can be empty while the crew is overwhelmed with drive through customers. I almost universally find that DD locations could use a dedicated employee to clean tables, floors, seat backs etc. It is never fun to find comfortable chairs, tables and abundant electrical outlets(with USB chargers to boot) only to encounter a table, floor, chair or other surfaces covered with crumbs from last week’s customers. Customers could also be more respectful of the premises. On the plus side, this place is distinguished by plenty of large windows, a bright atmosphere, outdoor seating, and excellent, hard working, polite employees. No Wi-Fi.
